What a cheek that is! Yeah Apple although you didn’t offer any cloud security....
I’d complain if I was showcasing as CES. Because the last time I checked Apple is MORE then happy for you to use Facebook and Google apps on their iPhones whilst taking in 30% of anything sold through them....

I don't want to be at your party, but as I'd sad and desperate, I'm going to put up a sign saying the party is bad.

Wow Apple, really... you have come down to this?

This is to act as a counter-argument against all the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant connected devices which will be centre stage at this year's CES. The ones that will harvest all their owners' data as soon as you confirm the TOS to start using the product.

You mean all those devices that you can OPT out of having them use your data to improve their services? Those ones you mean that the fear monger Apple fans love to spread inaccurate information about.

Tell me, I presume I’m correct in claiming you never shop in Amazon and you’ve never used a single google service including its search engine? Or are you not concerned about them apparently collecting your data if you use them?

While I value privacy, it’s totally invisible for the average user. Is iOS really that more safe than android? Isn’t this all up to the user?

I rather see Apple showing of some compelling futures to attract more customers. But sadly can’t come up with some anymore. Blackberry used the same tactic when it was falling behind and look how they fared.

Apple really stands apart as the one company that has no interest in your data and goes to great lengths to making your data, yours and ensuring that not even they can see it, even if they wanted to or were compelled to by law.

Apple is very much interested in user data, and they do use it .
They also use and deal in user data with other sources, like FB and Google .
It's well reported and has never been denied by Apple .

All that Apple keeps telling you is that allegedly an iPhone is hard to hack .

Part of marketing is stressing your strong points. Other phone makers make fun of apple for things like lack of headphone jacks, and rightfully so. I don’t see why apple can’t play the privacy card.

Whatever, the iCloud backups were compromised and data stolen.... And who's to say it's never gonna get hacked or compromised in some way in the future. You can't.
Smartass, probably with spots on his face.
Sorry, whoever so stubbornly desires evil has done nothing in his life.

I really like it. It's so much better than my suggested tagline:

Nice game. But why this effort? The mass market will never have STD, because it works in non-military environment. So why this remark?

Sure, so Apple should be there promoting the benefits of their products and as they say secure ecosystem.
Not hide away, but put up a sign nearby.

"What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone"

...unless of course it happens within a non-Apple app that doesn't adhere to Apple's own privacy standards.

Which makes me think: wouldn't it be interesting if Apple only allowed apps on the App Store that met the same standards of privacy etc that they themselves promote and uphold?

Would that force Facebook et al to change at all? Or would they just be like, "nah, so long Apple users"?
Good note! I'm sure this question will be discussed repeatingly at Apple. After such sessions there will always be some frustration. Evil is hard to defeat.

Or encrypted with a key Apple has anyway.
That's what Android friends like to say. With privacy/security, however, Apple has entire future fields of development, so I don't think they're as stupid as you'd expect them to be.

I think you’re partially off base here. Apple doesn’t promise/guarantee anyone from any type of security breach. The reality is, the point of one’s privacy is protected on the iPhone or device itself through the security of Apples encryption through iOS, which is fairly stringent from outward attacks. Is privacy protected on the Internet? That depends on what the user is involved in, but there are ways to mitigate privacy based on what you participate in.

You have no control over the security of the systems or services that you participate in. Once you connect to a service / system over the internet , you are at risk.

IMHO, most people don’t use iPhones because of the privacy factor, they use them because of the ecosystem, the (ugh) status symbol, iMessage, their friends/family uses them, etc. not one person I’ve ever spoken with has ever mentioned privacy as a factor. I’m sure it’s important and a factor to some/a lot of people on this board and out in the real world but I don’t think it is to the general public. IMHO this is Apple being extremely out of touch with the wants of most of it’s consumer which is why the company will continue to lag in areas where Google and Amazon shine

Total long shot but I wonder if Apple might be releasing AirPower at CES. Apple has never directly been at the Consumer Electronics Show but things change. This billboard is already breaking new ground for Apple who has mostly ignored CES. If Apple wants to improve on Qi and build a new wireless power standard, CES with its thousands of Qi devices and their manufacturers is the place to make an appearance.

It’s nothing more than Apple taking advantage of free marketing for the massive population that is about to flood Las Vegas for the consumer show, why not advocate one of iOS’s strong points, security. Also, I think the Airpower if released, would get lost in the midst of all of this, when Apple typically likes to do things more solo on their own timeline.

I'm calling from apple customer care. Look at your iPhone you can see it's legit. Can i take your password please....

I let go of privacy a long time ago when MySpace was hacked. And Adobe. And everyone else. Haveibeenpwned.com will just open everyone's eyes.

Privacy doesn't exist.
Of course you're right.
There is no paradise on this earth.
But one should make an effort to defend values and dignity. This includes privacy.

And while others (Google etc) would like to convert your dignity into fast money, like any hooker, Apple has a principle that is good, and with which they can earn money in dignified ways.

Still unsure of this.

Kinda still feel it's like having Animals in the wild and a Zoo trying to say how safe it is for animals to be in captivity.
Sure some animals might like being safe in the zoo, but the majority would rather be free to do as they wish, even if being in the wild has the potential to be more dangerous at times.

Agree totally.
Most normal people just buy something as they like it, or esp when they are young it's what their group of friends all have and they want to fit in.
Whether one brand may be slightly more secure in some ways than other brands is simply not going to come into the minds of most normal people.
Like when people buy cars, they buy for many reasons, status symbols being a big one, how fast, how cheap to run.
I very much doubt many will buy the car simply on it's crash performance results, which most people wont even know of be bothered to find out about.

Hey Barmann: totaler Kackmist, was Du schreibst!

While others (Google etc.) want to convert your dignity into fast money, like any hooker, Apple has a principle that is good and with which they can earn money in a dignified way.
You have to be very young not to realize that the world is subordinated to different principles.
Just imagine Apple making money on data disclosure, too. The dam would be broken.

But that's not the case right now, you can collect the evidence if you don't want to ridicule the attempts to get something good. Then iOS in Europe would not be clarified for medicine (unlike Android), then future systems that need safe external protection (autonomous vehicles) would not be one of Apple's future development fields and much more.
If you want to act instead of talking: Request your iCloud data. If you know how to interpret the data received, fine, then you understand what data they use to keep just their ecosystem alive.
Furthermore, you'll understand what conflict Apple is in: It's supposed to be government conform (that's what it is in the case of support for e.g. state terrorism), but doesn't want to be the snitch for prosecution for any rape. I'm glad you won't be consulted in these discussions. They are difficult things.
Here again a link, which might light up the things for you somewhat.

Is it just me or does advertising on the side of buildings come across as, well, somewhat cheap?

For apple, that is.

I'd expect to see an ad for Chick Fil A or something

What do you think @boltjames
In most other cities throughout the US, this would come off as cheap but this is Vegas and it’s totally appropriate. IMHO
