The pro max somehow looks slimmer but taller maybe it’s just the angle but I dunno I dope the screen isn’t just taller but wider

I love how all impressions are describing the mini as "incredibly small" like ok we were just using an iPhone 5S six years ago...

"It's nice to be able to use the whole phone with one hand" the fact that this is being touted as a "feature" baffles me. This should be a basic requirement for a portable device.
People have voted with their wallets and most don’t want a phone that small. I have a XR and I able to use it with one hand without trouble most of the time. I’m glad Apple made the mini to address a small group of users, but I hope you are not insinuating that this is as big as a phone should be just to “guarantee” that everyone can use it with one hand.

Gotta say, in the engadget video, that silver polished band looks amazing on the pro max, it really pops in the larger size. I‘ll still go with the gold, but that did look nice at least in that video, the larger scale does something for it over the 12 pro imo.

Why don’t they optimize iOS for each screen size?

Sad that the smallest screen looks exactly the same as the biggest screen. Lazy design.

I will wait patiently a little longer for my Mini. This week has been all about patience.
Thats ok to wait if you wanted it removed but might take years. As others have mentioned the notch it’s a non issue - basically the only thing that goes there are the activity and cell signal icons - apps will Execute below the notch

The silver finish is really nice this year. The metallic colours have somewhat matured, but I wonder if in the future we will see some more finishes that mix and match - i.e. silver edges with a graphite back or something. Apple has not really done that before though, so perhaps not. Would also be a logistic nightmare I image when it comes to a consistent and practical supple chain inventory & flow

But I Would certainly welcome it

Well this was definitely a surprise. I was hoping videos would wait until after pre-order.

Let me go watch!

EDIT: The Pro Max does look big, but it would have been better to put it against an 11 Pro Max to get a true view of size. If you keep showing it next to a mini or even the Pro, yes it’s going to look humongous.

Does anybody know if the Mini and Max will ship with 14.1 or 14.2 (which came out today)? I don't want to apply 14.2 if it's going to prevent me from restoring from backup out of the box, just don't want the extra hassle to set up the phone, download the update, and then wipe and restore.

Patiently waiting my alerts set hoping to get two I phone 12 pro max with 512GB to replace my two 11 pro max's

Huh? I didn’t say anything about waiting for the notch to be removed.

More than likely, both will come with 14.1.

Pretty sure for the past few years you've been able to restore even if the newer phone is on an older version - it offers to run the update itself and then does the restore (no need to get to Home Screen, update, then wipe/erase).

No hands on for the HomePod Mini?

I was hoping the media would have gotten those ahead of the pre-orders too.

Believe me, there will probably be at least 14 different channels with ‘hands-on’ with the Mini. I doubt Apple sent those out as early they do the iPhone, just because the iPhone obviously has the most notoriety that it’s launching soon. But still, i’m most interested in what type of sound the Mini can deliver over anything else.

Same width as the iPhone 8 Plus. Millimeter for millimeter. And it’s 0.1 millimeter thinner than the 8 plus. 7.4mm vs 7.3mm
