Does anyone know what is this? It was in the Mini video.

I never understood the "want" for the mini. It seems way too small. I think the 6.1 Pro is the perfect Goldilocks phone. I have had the Plus/Max versions for several years, and decided to go down a tad this year. Glad I did. I'm loving mine!

But, I'm happy that those who have been asking for a smaller phone get to finally have one.

Am Preordering both the IPhone 12 mini and 12 Pro max, I already have the regular 12 but will change it for the mini, Am curious about the tiny size .
Mini for personal use and Pro Max for business and photos stuff.

damn looking at those icons on the right on the mini triggers my OCD, clearly there isn’t enough room on the right side

I love how all impressions are describing the mini as "incredibly small" like ok we were just using an iPhone 5S six years ago...

"It's nice to be able to use the whole phone with one hand" the fact that this is being touted as a "feature" baffles me. This should be a basic requirement for a portable device.

every time I hold an iPhone before the 6 in my hand I wonder how we made due with screens that tiny. It feels practically useless in today’s day and age.

This CNET character: "I'd like to see MagSafe come back to the Mac."

Is this joker just going for internet points, or do people like this really exist? There is no reason to bring MagSafe "back" to the Mac. It was a net positive move to get rid of the proprietary, non-reversible, single-port charger and replace it with any number of universal ports that are used for PD and data. I can connect the cable to either side of the Mac, in any open port, in any orientation.

And, MagSafe's entire purpose is largely negated by the weight loss the devices have seen since it was originally implemented. MagSafe was first put in place on a device that weighed almost 6 pounds. A MacBook Air today weighs only 2.8 pounds!!! Even if it had MagSafe, it doesn't have enough weight to play its part in the MagSafe concept.

Does anybody know if the Mini and Max will ship with 14.1 or 14.2 (which came out today)? I don't want to apply 14.2 if it's going to prevent me from restoring from backup out of the box, just don't want the extra hassle to set up the phone, download the update, and then wipe and restore.
You can still restore as long as it’s the same iOS 14/13/12 etc.

Everyday especially considering that area of the screen is less unusable for videos
it doesn’t affect videos at all since the aspect ratio of HD video is 1.78:1 and the screen is 2.1:1 excluding the notch.

Maybe you should actually try the phone instead of coming up with factually inaccurate reasons not to

Went from a 6s (4.7") to a 7+ (5.5) to a XR (6.1") to an 11 Pro Max (6.5").

Now seriously considering trying out the 12 mini (5.4") for one year !

IMO, the 12 Pro is the best iPhone AAPL is offering this year.

But, the 12 mini has my interest !

You can see the Apple Leather Cases in the Engaget video. Looks like black, deep blue (same as watch and wallet), poppy (yellow that is same as watch and wallet), brown(as usual), and red (probably product red).

I’m currently on an XS Max and will be ordering the 12 Pro Max. Main reason I like the big size is because I watch a lot of video on the phone, especially in bed where the iPad can be too big.

People have voted with their wallets and most don’t want a phone that small. I have a XR and I able to use it with one hand without trouble most of the time. I’m glad Apple made the mini to address a small group of users, but I hope you are not insinuating that this is as big as a phone should be just to “guarantee” that everyone can use it with one hand.

People buy big phones because no flagship compact phones being sold for such a long time. I hope the mini sells really well and all manufacturers start making flagship compact phones again. More choice is a good thing for consumers.
