but I don't think this is normal behaviour...

I don't think, that you know, how I and other users use their iPads. The splitted keyboard ist not even on his picture, an that is what I say - and see. When you don't see that, it's yours.

If he think, his iPad is perfect, that's the mainfact. But other users have maybe an other oppinion and you should accept this - that's part of a forum

Btw: Every Company loves customers like you ;)

----------

I don't want to sound nutty, but it's screen has a very slight greenish tint on the left side, and very slight pink on the right. Definitely usable, but......

You should call Apple and explain your issue, if you want a new one - and you'll get one for sure

There are morons sometime passing by.
I believe 80% of most users of iPad is simply "reading" . Just that : reading. Books, internet, PDFs for work, magazines, etc.
most reading is done, most of time, with white backgrounds. So how does it feel when you read from left to right, when the left of the screen is yellow creamy and the right is cold blue white ? Not good.
But after all, perhaps the arrogant and uneducated posters who accuse other people reporting in This thread of psychic disorder don't read themselves. Perhaps they play games on their pad so they re not bothered with screen faults .

Agreed.

These threads amuse me so much: people returning 3-4-5-6 units without finding one that fit their expectations, photos of perfectly functional iPads described as faulty .... It's always the same, for every single new apple's release.

And as usual I went to the nearest apple store, bought an iPad Air, and its screen is just fine, like my previous iPad 4, and the iPad 2, and the iPad I had.

How lucky I am ;)

fine just dont look to your left and u'll be fine. me personally i was willing to give up my currys big discount due to being irked by a blotchy yellow screen and yellow tint on the replacement.

No. You just weren't unlucky.

Those of us who have had problems really appreciate your insightful views on the topic of OUR iPads.

So why don't you just go and enjoy your iPad instead of posting unhelpful posts about the actual topic.

How wrong can one be... There are 500,000 apps available for iPad for a good reason, most people buy iPads for other things than reading books and PDF's.
If this is what you do, buy e-reader - they have perfectly white screens and cost fraction of the cost of iPad ;)

Oh please, don't be so hard on yourself...

This topic is really long in a tooth now. Nobody cares about yellow screens anymore, 99.9% of buyers don't give a toss. There is a very simple solution to all your troubles with iPad screen imperfections - DONT BUY IT, you'll do yourself and everybody on this board a favour ;)

I always love when guys like you make up some random statistic to prove your point. Based on complaints on this and many other websites, the problem has affected a significant number of buyers and is worth discussing. Unless Apple announce the iPad is supposed to be yellow on one side, we have to assume it's some kind of defect. Hopefully it was an early production issue that has already been corrected.

It's really as simple as that. No need to pretend Apple is perfect and avoid talking about problems with their products.

The reason this topic is long in the tooth is because the problem continues. That's not the fault of people buying iPads. And the solution is for Apple to implement better QC, not for us to accept a poor screen. The onus is on Apple, not us the consumer.

I love Apple, but I call it how I see it. 4 iPads tell me there is a problem. The odds of getting 4 iPads with poor screens SHOULD be almost impossible to happen, but it did and it's happening to plenty of others. That's the problem.

Because I'm quite convinced that this kind of behavior is partial driving up the price of my iPad too.
I'm not speaking about you, I don't know you, I'm generally speaking about people keep returning perfectly working devices.
If it doesn't fit your expectations after the first return (they are selling millions, a few lemons are present), then an iPad Air isn't the right device for you.
Return six is just insane ....

definitely keep it! If your screen is a uniform white without bookspine it's a keeper! pretty tragic though that we all should settle with some kind of screen defect.. how "bad" is the bleed?

It's not too bad to spots on the same side looks bad in a dark room brightness on full which I never door I've got until January 6th if it gets to me will wait and see. It's a shame that all of these tech company's screens seem to suffer from the same issues screen bleed is rife with all of the tablets I have purchased and returned because of it. I guess the average consumer doesn't notice it or are not bothered just irritating really.

So I ended up going with my gut and exchanging my half yellow half blue iPad. I am on Best Buy's 45 day return policy (Elite Member) so I waited until the 44th day to exchange mine.

I get home, check my new iPad hoping to see another bad screen (which tbh I was going to accept at this point) and to my surprise...my new iPad Air has an EVEN COOL NON-YELLOW screen! :D:D:D It is even cooler than my iPad 3 (which I gave to my mother). However, I *am* noticing the book spine effect on the left.... But to be honest, I am keeping this iPad. I don't notice the shadowy line unless I remember it. And after finally finding a screen with an even white non-yellow tint (this is my 3rd iPad Air)... I don't think I want to play the screen lottery again haha.

Don't blame you that's why I'm going to live with my small amount of screen bleed don't want to risk it plus side is can always get a warranty one in 6 months or something if it gets worse.

A significant number ??? OMG ....
How many complaints here ? 20 users ? Ok let's make it 50 ....
On how many forums ? 10 ? Ok so we have 500 whiners .... Let's multiply for 10, just to your entertainment ... We have 5000 complaints and they are selling MILLIONS units !!!

As I said before, a lemon could happen, but when you return 4-5-6 units the problem isn't the iPad air, the problem is you ... You should go for mother product that fits your expectations.

Jeez, what is it with you guys pulling random numbers out of your ass? I suppose all the people complaining about IOS 7 crashing are really just a bunch of whiners too. A problem can't exist if millions aren't complaining. Right?

Useless and mindless posts like these doesn't matter and we shall just ignore them. They bring nothing to the discussion and are just showing the urge of their authors to get a life and grow up. They just confirm the ridiculous fanboy syndrome. As someone said would you sell them tough **** with a nice logo on it they would be happy as well. Only the logo they care about, quality means nothing to their small brain and poor sight.

And, just to add some nuance to their life, no one no where in that thread is doing any kind of product nor brand bashing.
Reporting issues is nothing but legit.
Denying these issues and mocking attempts to sort the issue is basically dumb.

STOP complaining, buy Sumsung TAB, that will sort out all your issues... Oh wait, majority of iPad Air displays are made by Samsung anyway... Back to square one ;)
BTW; Samsung recently employed "army" of Apple trolls, are you the one?

Except that in quite a lot of cases there are no issue at all if not in your mind ...

How many ? 10 ? 100 ? 1000 (unlikely) ?

There are millions happy, do they count ?
Forums like MR are full of whiners, they don't represent the real market.

BTW I complained about a couple of iOS 7 issues, but it's very different from keep returning units that in most of they cases are working within limits.
As I suggested elsewhere, Apple should enforced a "3-try" policy , after that a full refund and a goodbye kiss.

I say again, I'm speaking about "ridiculous" issues like tint or gradient, not about major problems that are to be solved (like non working units, cracked displays, defective buttons and so on ....).

Well said, but I'm afraid it will fall on death ears... :(
Don't forget that you have to use iPad in total darkness - your closet or wardrdrobe is OK, with 100% brightness turned on and use only white, grey or black backgrounds apps ;) LOL

Lol, in a dark environment I can barely keep brightness around 20% :)

It's like the other thread about the "infamous" image retention of rMini, where people keep a steady image at 100% brightness for several minutes and then complains because for a couple of minutes they can see a faint retention on a totally blank screen.
OMG my very real retina (in a physical term) will suffer of retention if I look at a steady image like that for a while !!!!

Who are you to define what a ridiculous iPad screen issue is? I don't find a yellow tint or color gradient on my screen acceptable. I returned 3 iPad Airs with yellow screens before getting a 4th with a near perfect screen and that is what I should be able to buy from Apple. By your definition I would not have been able to get this device that I am extremely happy with and that Apple should have been able to provide on the first or second try. The screen of my first rMini is perfect and I don't complain about the occasional Safari crashes on either device. I don't consider myself a whiner, but I do expect to buy a device free of obvious defects (in my opinion) like a yellow screen or color gradient on the screen.
