Because I'm quite convinced that this kind of behavior is partial driving up the price of my iPad too.

Ok so we have 500 whiners .... Let's multiply for 10, just to your entertainment ... We have 5000 complaints and they are selling MILLIONS units !!!

So, based on your assertion, an insignificant number of complaints (5000 out of "MILLIONS") has resulted in enough returns to increase the price of the iPad?

It's laughable that anyone would question these screen issues. Various, protracted color/brightness uniformity issues have existed with Apple displays since day one (and, of course, other manufacturers using IPS panels). iMac yellow tint issue, iPad 2 backlight bleed, iPad 3 pink/green display problems, rMBP yellow tint issues, etc., all documented in countless forums, blogs, reviews, even Apple's technician documents.

There is a a historical record of display quality issues and that is hardly a matter for debate.

Childish insults, the tired "OCD" assertion, and don't-like-it-don't-buy-it arguements add nothing of substance or value to this thread.

Who are you to define what a ridiculous iPad screen issue is? I don't find a yellow tint or color gradient on my screen acceptable. I returned 3 iPad Airs with yellow screens before getting a 4th with a near perfect screen and that is what I should be able to buy from Apple. By your definition I would not have been able to get this device that I am extremely happy with and that Apple should have been able to provide on the first or second try. The screen of my first rMini is perfect and I don't complain about the occasional Safari crashes on either device. I don't consider myself a whiner, but I do expect to buy a device free of obvious defects (in my opinion) like a yellow screen or color gradient on the screen.
Don't buy iPad, buy e-reader, Kobo should fix your needs.
Kobo has uniform white screen that you'll people will enjoy.
There is even "Glo" version, that will keep you interested all night long ;)

I have the Kindle Paperwhite thanks and don't presume to know my needs. And did you not read that I have an Air and rMini that I am happy with or do you just enjoy making ridiculous inapropriate comments?

I bet you are looking at your PC/Mac monitor right now ;)
Gues what? It is as "faulty" as iPad display is.
There are NO perfect lcd's in this curren world I'm afraid...

Sorry, I didn't bother to notice that you have iPad Air and mini and trolling at the same time ;)

I think you need to look up the definition of troll if you want to be taken seriously here.

Gents. I'm going to repeat myself but let's just ignore those bored kids. They have no clue what the problem is about.

Countless forums ??? No no, it's only in the same forums ....
IPS panels has their strong points and their limitations. There are lemons, it's logical to expect that, but not a systemic issue.
It's hard to discern an OCD from a real issue on a forum, but when I read of 4-5 returns I know I'm speaking with an OCD .... Or a very unlucky pal.

Tell me: your continuous whining adds value to this thread ?

This "kid" (thank you sooo much) is 42 and maybe an Apple user since you were in your primary school ... :D

Tell me: your continuous whining adds value to this thread?

I, like many users on this forum (including senior and respected members), have shared thier experiences with this particular issue, attempted to discern what is causing it, and have discussed possible solutions; some of those solutions are plausible (i.e., waiting for future production units) others, less so, (i.e., burning screen in).

That isn't, by any definition, whining.

I respect your opinion on the matter and am willing to listen to your position but, respectfully, making personal insults doesn't add any value to your position nor this discussion in general.

Got mine today - man what a vile screen. Yellow at the left and white at the right. A week 50 device too. Last week. Screen also yellow compared to my rMini. Apple need to get this sorted.

STOP complaining, buy Sumsung TAB, that will sort out all your issues... Oh wait, majority of iPad Air displays are made by Samsung anyway... Back to square one ;)
BTW; Samsung recently employed "army" of Apple trolls, are you the one?

Actually I did and it does. Picked up a Note 8 for £200 new. Perfect screen.

Except that in quite a lot of cases there are no issue at all if not in your mind ...

How many ? 10 ? 100 ? 1000 (unlikely) ?

There are millions happy, do they count ?
Forums like MR are full of whiners, they don't represent the real market.

BTW I complained about a couple of iOS 7 issues, but it's very different from keep returning units that in most of they cases are working within limits.
As I suggested elsewhere, Apple should enforced a "3-try" policy , after that a full refund and a goodbye kiss.

I say again, I'm speaking about "ridiculous" issues like tint or gradient, not about major problems that are to be solved (like non working units, cracked displays, defective buttons and so on ....).

Yeah, but millions are happy and I haven't had any issues with IOS 7, so I guess I'll just conclude your problems are made up. Stop whining!

Ok, I have just received my new 27th iPad air replacement.
The screen seems to be ok under my usual 100% brightness test in my closet test, but there seems to be slight bookspine on the left of my screen...
I have also noticed yellow part of the left screen, but it's visible only on the certain angle and when I use split keyboard.
I have than performed the usual (MacForums) tests for bleeding.
To my horror, my iPad has visible bleed. With just only 100% brightness in my closet, it looks terrible :(
Please help, all I want is iPad that I can use in my closet at 100% brightness...

The problem is actually worse when the iPad is at low brightness in a dark room. A well lit area and higher brightness makes it harder to see. The Air seems good to me as far as backlight bleeding, so I can't comment on that. But good going on the smug, douchey remarks on a problem you don't seem to know anything about because you don't have an iPad with this defect.

I was being sarcastic in my post above, sorry if it didn't look as such...
Btw; Happy to see a positive post for a change :)

I'm not whining at all ... I just posted my experience, looking for a solution (if any)and in the meanwhile I'm enjoying my iDevices.
I'm surely not reinstalling iOS 7 from scratch every two days to obtain a satisfying configuration :D

Samsung must reserve all of its rejects to Apple than... :)
Btw; All Samsungs that we have on displays, bleed as hell...
Ps; I work in computer store.

Whatever - the Note 8 screen is simply much more even and white. Don't know why but that's the way it is.

Hi guys,

I've got a bit of yellowing on my Air. Whether you think it's a problem or not, I'd like to know roughly how long it'd take Apple to replace it?

I'm with family in the UK for the Christmas holidays but will be back in Spain from the 5th of Jan. Is it worth it to risk getting an exchange here? Could I take it back to Spain and get it replaced there?

Thanks for any help in advance

enter the trolls, this thread is to discuss genuine issues, if anyone has a problem with people complaining please, there are other threads you can go to.

The driving up the price argument is laughable if Apple kept there QC, they would not have returns and if they punished consumers by putting up the price. They will just lose many custiomers to Google, amazon, even Windows 8. it's not gonna happen, last time i checked the price is still the same.

Picture?

My iPad air has a little yellowing on the left side with the dark shadowing line, its very slight though. Looking at a solid white background, theres a little bit of yellowing on the right side too, but its brighter.
Im not sure if I should exchange it.

Im really happy with the device, the white is crystal clear (on the rest of the screen) and the battery is incredible, but I don't tolerate defects, especially with Apple products.

I managed to snap a picture of it that clearly shows it on my iPhone 5S. I might just give applecare a call and send them the picture so they can see.

Every single air has that issue. It is because the lighting for the device is on the right side only, thus producing a brighter right side and dimmer left side. You won't find an air that does not look like that, although some are more pronounced than others.
