The battery alone will be worth it, after using mine everyday at the gym for years they don’t last as long as they used to, and the water resistance will be a bonus

I'm one of the weirdos that only use one at a time, even while on long flights. I haven't been able to tell any battery issues yet. Using one means I seem to always have the battery ready in the other when I switch them out. I probably could if I used them both at the same time. Water resistance would be good but I'm not sure how that would fit into my usage.

Why if anyone was “smart” they would have waited for these considering the 2nd ones were a small incremental update lol
Because the batteries on Gen 1 were basically dead. I'd get less than an hour use from them. So I jumped on Gen 2 for battery life alone, otherwise I'd have to buy Gen 1 again.. either I was totally fine doing. I see zero reason in getting Gen 3 based on the reports. I'll wait for Gen 4 or till my Gen 2 batteries go bad.

Will the microphone audio quality still suck compared to the old wired earpods?

I purchased the second version the day they came out (same with the first ones), but returned them because they wouldn't work with my wireless chargers. I'll likely buy the next ones whenever they are released and just start upgrading my charging pads. The Air Pods are close to the perfect headphones for me.

"Gurman also reported that Apple is developing over-ear headphones with noise cancelation that could launch as early as this year. The headphones are said to be "studio quality" and will likely have Apple branding."

So we'll likely have the color choice of white or white. ;)

I'm still happy using my first gen. If I know I'm going to be using them 4+ hours I just use one until the low battery tone, then I swap it out with the charged one, repeat. Mostly podcasts and audio books so not having both at once is not that big of a deal.

EarPods and AirPods can’t really be compared when it comes to the fit. I was holding out on AirPods because EarPods were uncomfortable for me, but I regret that since they work just perfect. They're not for everyone of course.
Same here. I finally purchased a pair last December when I got sick of the wire on my JayBirds.

they're already water resistant I sweat bullets at the gym wearing em and never had an issue
I dropped one into a sink filled with soapy water while I was doing dishes about a month ago. I wasn't able to find it for about 5 minutes while I got all of the dishes out to be able to properly search for it. Absolutely no issues.

I'd love Apple to come out with a pair of Airpods that have replaceable soft cushion earbuds. I'd purchase in a heartbeat. The current models just do not stay in my ear.
I totally agree, I would love to see an inear with cushions. My ears start to pain after 10 mins of using the current ones. The last time I used them was months ago.

Glad I waited on the 2nd gen ones... hopefully my battery holds out.

Same here. I’ll happily upgrade for water proofing/resistance and wireless charging. Fiancé already has her eyes on my current AirPods! I have had my original AirPods since right around launch day, use them daily, and the battery life is still great. I don’t see any real performance decrease.
