Thank u to all the beta testers who bought first gen. The real version comes out September
Good thing for us beta testers the 1st gen was a home run. Not all 1st gen products are that good.

If you tried to swim with these, wouldn't they fall out really easily?... and then get lost?
I'm assuming you're joking but there is a lot of confusion surrounding the difference between water resistance and waterproof.

The main reason I love AirPods is that they just stay in my ears. For nearly 3 years, they have not fallen off my ears, not even a single time. I have run quite a lot with them on, exercise (no swim obviously) and they just stay there perfectly. AirPods and EarPofds when it comes to the shape aren't much different, so I suspect the reason why the EarPods will always fall of my ear was due to being pulled by that stupid wire.

Where as I only know of two people IRL who have gotten these and one turned his head quickly when a bee came at him while kayaking and one went 'zing off into the lake'. The other person turned their head quickly while mountain biking and 'zing off into the leafy woods never to be found'.

Two VERY expensive head turns.

Yeah, except I've had the use of them for almost 2 years and it cost me a whopping $200

Or you just bought this weekend gen 2 ones to replace the launch day gen 1 airpods that were stolen, along with a Mac Air, 2 iPad Pros and Mavic 2 Pro.

Think about the amount of people who swim.

Then the amount of people who swim with headphones in.

Yeah, there better be other features. lol.

Will these new AirPods be AirPower compatible too? :D

Apple plans to release third-generation AirPods with water resistance in late 2019, according to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives. The first two generations of AirPods do not have IP-rated water or dust resistance.

In a research note this week, shared by Philip Elmer-DeWitt, Ives said the new AirPods will be released in time for the holiday shopping season this year and may also feature some unspecified design enhancements. AirPods have had the same design since the original pair launched in December 2016.

This info lines up with several rumors about new AirPods launching within the next year.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman was first to reveal Apple's roadmap for AirPods. In February 2018, he said Apple was working on new AirPods with Hey Siri support, which launched in March 2019 after a delay. In June 2018, he reported that Apple is working on another pair of AirPods with water resistance and noise cancelation.

Gurman also reported that Apple is developing over-ear headphones with noise cancelation that could launch as early as this year. The headphones are said to be "studio quality" and will likely have Apple branding.

In April, reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said two new AirPods models will likely go into mass production between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020, with one of the new models featuring an "all-new form factor design" and a "higher price" than the second-generation AirPods, which start at $159.

Both new AirPods models are said to adopt a new system-in-package design internally, which can improve assembly yield rates, save space internally, and reduce costs, but Kuo did not elaborate on outward-facing design changes.

Taiwanese website DigiTimes also expects third-generation AirPods with noise cancelation to launch by the end of the year.

My 2nd gen AirPods were at the bottom of a 5-foot pool for about ten minutes. After retrieving them, I let them dry overnight and today (a month later) they work like new.

That said, I'm not very happy on their fitment--they fall out of my ears way too easily, regardless of how I position them. Any bending or stooping and they're on the ground. Yes, there are 3rd party silicone covers for that, I know.

I just bought a big bag of these, takes 30 seconds to prep (make holes. where sensors are).

Bingo bango

Correct me if I am wrong, but I would assume those still don't sit in the ear like normal in-ear earbuds do? My issue is not with the cushioning of the Apple Airpods, but the entire fit in the ear.

None of Apple's earbuds have ever fit my ears.

Funny that AirPod headphones are still not included with a purchase of a iPhone typical Tim Cook I mean seriously this headphone are nothing special and now that the third gen will be waterproof and I can just imagine how easily you will lose the headphone in the ocean, a swimming pool or a public swimming pool.

I’m still holding on to my first gen. I don’t think I’ll purchase another apple product until apple show the consumer something different.

I'm one of the weirdos that only use one at a time, even while on long flights. I haven't been able to tell any battery issues yet. Using one means I seem to always have the battery ready in the other when I switch them out. I probably could if I used them both at the same time. Water resistance would be good but I'm not sure how that would fit into my usage.

I also only use one at a time unless watching a movie and mine still last me all day

Mine survived the hot tub, but not the case.

They look like white goo running out of the wearer's ears... I find the ear pods to be very uncomfortable to wear, and they constantly fall out. I'm quite sure these overpriced and stupid looking airpods would do the same. To each their own though...and YMMV.

As opposed to a white spaghetti monster coming out of your ears?

The first- and second-generation AirPods are already water resistant enough for most people, though only lacking the official IP certification. I would hope third-generation AirPods will have another improvement factor worthy of a higher price point.

And for those who have never owned AirPods before and are holding out, just get them. I love my AirPods 2 with wireless charging case, it’s now part of my everyday carry.

This is a sort of "silent" feature. The AirPods in their current forms are quite resistant to accidental water damage.

Funny that AirPod headphones are still not included with a purchase of a iPhone typical Tim Cook ...

Apple has a long history of optional extras that seem they should be "included" and it goes back a long way. Mac II that shipped without a display, computers with CD-ROM but burning is optional, buying a LaserWriter but the data cable is optional/extra, and iPhone that had only 16GB of storage well into the time where that was obscenely small, HiFi didn't include batteries, the list goes on and on about thing people complained should have been included with products over the years. And none of it has anything to do with Cook.

for me they fit better then any other so its not for everyone as with any earbuds
