AirPods truly should be in the hands of every Apple customer. They are delightful to use everyday and in every way.
I can't wait to see what innovations AirPods 3 brings to the table, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend buying a pair of AirPods 2 right now.

I was going to get the new wireless powerbeats pro. I am very active & like the behind the ear security. But i will now wait to see what Apple does with the 3rd gen airpods first.

“(...) reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (...)”
I have seen this Kuo guy go from some rumor guy, to “he has been right often”, to analyst dude, to now “reputable” analyst dude... waiting for the “honorable analyst” awards.

What if they just release silicon attachment that waterproofs them and keeps them in your ear when you swim, but are specially designed to transfer sound well too?

If you tried to swim with these, wouldn't they fall out really easily?... and then get lost?

Water resistant, not waterproof. They will likely have an IP rating to help with sweat and rain. I expect the Powerbeats Pro line up to eventually be fully waterproof, especially given its design (ie ear hook) and purpose (ie sport including swimming).

Would love to charge Airpods wireless without putting them in a case. Don't know if it' just me but wouldn't it be nice if we can just lay the airpods on the back of the iPhone and they would just recharge?

Honestly, this doesn’t excite me too much. Not sure why waterproofing is so important. They seem to work fine for me when I sweat and workout. But maybe there will be more than just that feature. I got the second gen and the wireless charging is great and the battery time is amazing when compared to my old first gens. On the other hand, glad they are always trying to improve their products!

Noise canceling is a logical next step/ wanted enhancement, could it be done with such little battery though?

I'd love Apple to come out with a pair of Airpods that have replaceable soft cushion earbuds. I'd purchase in a heartbeat. The current models just do not stay in my ear.

The main reason I love AirPods is that they just stay in my ears. For nearly 3 years, they have not fallen off my ears, not even a single time. I have run quite a lot with them on, exercise (no swim obviously) and they just stay there perfectly. AirPods and EarPofds when it comes to the shape aren't much different, so I suspect the reason why the EarPods will always fall of my ear was due to being pulled by that stupid wire.

I was looking for good in ear Bluetooth headphones the last couple of days and to be honest the AirPods were not the best. Currently waiting for the new Sony in ear with noise cancelling

You have to think outside the box here for a bit. If Apple uses a water resistance rating for future AirPods, and if they fail due to water damage, now they’re covered under warranty if they fail under conditions where they should have survived. {Like the Series 3/Series 4 Apple Watch, which is actually intended for shallow water activities at 50m water resistance, if it fails in a pool, Apple will replace it, because they have to, which plenty of other members of actually had this happen to them.}

If you’re using the current AirPods now that doesn’t have a water resistance rating, and if one of them fails due to water exposure, you’re not covered under warranty and you’re out of pocket to replace it.

Plus, with a water resistance rating, I’d probably feel more confident using them knowingly that are intended to survive under certain conditions with moisture.

I used a peace of 3M Nexcare tape. Fits my ears now.

For what its worth, the original AirPods have been the most resilient pair of headphones I've ever bought in terms of no damage from running nearly every day in every weather imaginable. Really impressive.

Noise cancellation is the killer feature. That will make a big different for airplanes, cars, bikes, noisy rooms, anything with a high noise floor. Will be an immediate buy.

Agreed, but I can't see how they'd possibly do that with the current design of the buds.

I wonder if the waterproofing would be for rain or if it would be so you can still use them after retrieving them from the bottom of the pool after getting drunk on holiday.

I wonder if Apple could implement continuous ECG reading using an AirPod in place of a fingertip. I know the electrical route through the body wouldn't be the same but is it close enough?

I still haven't found a good reason to update my first gen AirPods. If I need Siri I can just use my phone...

The second gen are better for phone calls because the output switches much quicker and the talk time is much better....
