Wow lots of flack from the above posters. Good! I don't mind. Say what you want, its one less option that they only got rid of to sucker people into spending more money thru Apple. Please tell me you can grasp that!! How can you say it's progress when it's not superior to its predecessor. So wrong on that account!
I will concede convenience for bluetooth, although it is certainly not better. Bluetooth does not sound nearly as good as wired and if you don't know or notice, then you are the perfect flock apple loves.
How are any of you making the comparison of wired headphones to Standard def TV. Come on you guys are you that naive? Its actually the other way around. Wired would be HD and bluetooth 480i.
Airpods sound about the same as the stuff they give you in the box. You paid apple $159 to get rid of the wire with maybe slighty better sound quality?
I know BT is convenient, I only use them for the gym because wires do get in the way during a workout. When I actually want to LISTEN to and enjoy music, never BT.
Headphone jack better for wired audio to BT speakers and vehicle audio. BT lacks depth and punch by quite a bit.
I have yet to hear anything a BT connection sound better than wired.

Didn't say it would come back. All I did was make a post wondering why the Airpods would be such a high selling item on Cyber Monday when I never saw them on sale. And people who owned Airpods got pretty defensive. LOL hilarious!!
Saying it's in the past basically only pertains to Apple iPhone and Pixel 2. So its very current on almost every other device. They only difference is most other companies don't force your hand to buy BT buds or headphones like greedy Apple.
It's somewhat snobbish to assume that only having BT is better, because it clearly is not. You could still use BT headphones when they had a jack, so its NOT what i would call progress

1. People buy things around Christmas. Obviously. And it doesn’t matter if it was already out before.
2. If you were accurate then there would be a proprietary audio situation rather than basic Bluetooth which allows for many third party options for wireless headphones. No one is forcing anyone to use AirPods.
3. People are still able to use wired headphones with the snug little FREE dongle that can be left attached to the end of the corded headphones easily.
4. Personally insulting and calling people names because they made different choices on how to spend THEIR MONEY is lame.
Point 2- disagree, they had tons of Beats devices in the wild and they would REALLY PISS alot of people off. Apple also knew tons of people would buy Airpods
Point 3 - who the hell wants to carry that thing around. Its a handicap.
Point 4 - I'm not attacking or insulting. Because I said some people are sheep? If it doesn't apply to you and you know deep down, then the statement would not bother you. But if you did feel that way deep down then you may be agitated. But my statement about apple doing what they did to slaughter more wallets because they no longer supported wired headphones is not incorrect. They are MASTERS at it. That is why they are the worlds biggest company, and maybe you will pickup on some of their less than desirable tactics with some critical thinking.
NOW.... if apple didn't get rid of the headphone jack the same time they came out with Airpods, I would not call it the underhanded, shady move it was. BOO APPLE, I see thru you, others i feel don't, and think apple does no wrong. DEFINTION - SHEEP.
