That was a very well detailed article, kudos to that!

I haven't even bought them yet, and am already impressed just reading the user reviews.

Some have reported potentially disruptive popping and crackling noises with the AirPods, although one user eventually discovered that nearby Bluetooth devices were the culprit for the dip in sound quality on the AirPods.

the device in question (logitech mouse) is probably not a bluetooth device... it's just a wireless mouse working on the same 2.4GHz frequency. Those little devices do not play well with bluetooth signals.
I'm not even surprised... I've already seen this with motorola and plantronic bluetooth headsets.

Picked up 2 sets at local Apple store today. 20 people in line (I was #9) and limit was 2 per. My guess is they had ~50 and they sold out quickly.

Question: when paired and connected shouldn't the headphone icon show next to the BT icon in the upper right on iOS? My Beats studio wireless shows.

Yes, congratulations to all the suckers who fell victom to Apples POS marketing and couldn't deal with a small 2 ft wire. Your wallets are now $150 lighter and your energy bill just went up a slight bit to charge yet ONE MORE THING!

We're very sorry you didn't get them for Christmas. Now buzz off.

Drove 30 minutes to an Apple Store to hopefully get a pair this morning, they said they had none and did not know when they would come in. Thanks MR for the false info.

You're blaming MR for your failure to call the store ahead of time?

Great.

Now we will get a ton of people who don't own them and never will tell us how crappy they are, expensive, will fall out, will get lost...etc.
I'm sort of one of those people, but really it's just the sound quality. The rest of the package is probably fine, but I would've loved to have seen IEMs as opposed to Earpod type devices. I can't imagine the bass levels and isolation are any good (like the regular Earpods). If they can get people to pay this price, it'd be cool to see another slightly more expensive model more focused on sound quality as an IEM like their $79 (iirc) IEMs that were actually pretty solid on sound for the price.

I was wondering a little bit about the reviews, like the one claiming that it felt different, much better in the ear and lighter. It's the same shape as the EarPods how can it feel different. I think some of this is just "having the new toy" fanboy talk for now. I think we will get a clearer picture in the coming weeks when more people review them.

Not sure why people would buy these when you can get better looking and better sounding ones for $60 (no cord connecting them either). You won't have tampons hanging form your ears and you won't be supporting a company that removed a feature just so they can sell you these.

"AirPods sound just like EarPods" - Nilay Patel

$159 for overpriced tech.

Get Tim Cook Outta there! Please. Seriously.

They are the most expensive truly wireless earphones, except for all the other truly wireless earphones.

Cute troll account. You're like those people that stop you in front of the post office and talk to you about how we need to impeach the president. Does your car have advertising on it about Tim Cook's failures as a CEO?

Be prepared to be attacked on here lol

LOL! Yeah, i expect it. I just can't get behind apple anymore on anything they do. Removing the headphone jack was stupid just so they could sell overpriced wireless earbuds which im sure quality sound-wise is equivalent to the wired versions.
Also, if apple wanted to be really innovative and cared about sound quality they would have used wifi-direct instead of bluetooth. Bluetooth is awful for music.

Call me a hater all you want. A stupid wire is no reason for me to blow $150 on a piece of tech that I can live without.
Honestly, can anyone on this forum tell me you CAN'T LIVE without wireless headphones. Your lying to yourself if you think its true.

150 for earpod quality sound?? No thanks! Quite happy with my Bose Soundsport wireless that was able to get at 80 and have way better quality. I prefer to deal with that single wire joining the earbuds than to deal with Earpod sound quality thank you very much.

Stay classy when you opine on what others should do with their money...

"And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius."

... and while some may see them as a pair of wireless earbuds, we see a disrupting new kind of AI interface.

Nah. I'll get Sennheiser Momentum Wireless Around-Ears. Sure they're twice as expensive and very different type, but at least I'll feel I'm getting bang for buck.
