Are they sonically identical to my wired earbuds? Great as the wireless implementation is, I can't imagine paying so much more for wireless.

I don't get it. Great tech. Poor aesthetics and lack of color options make this a no go.

I know everyone loves them and their pairing and tech are 2nd to none, but they do not look good.

I'll keep my Dash by Bragi for now.

The AirPods look exactly like the iconic white earbuds, minus the white cord. How exactly does that mean they "do not look good?" I cannot understand how people think their (likely poor) design taste can and should be shouted from the rooftops. When you get an exhibit in the MoMA, your opinion will actually matter; until then nobody cares what you think looks good, especially since you don't own them. As you said yourself, everyone who has them loves them. Maybe they like their aesthetics, maybe they don't. I own the AirPods, love them, and think they look very good. If they were offered in other colors, I would still buy the white. They're clean, they're quintessential Apple, and they stand out.

I'll say the opposite. They will add at least black. And I wouldn't be surprised if they expand the colors even more to match each color of the iPhone.

I very much doubt it. The white earbuds are iconic (iConic?). They have never been black and never will be.

I don't care how they look. I can't see them when they're in my ears. I can only hear them, and they sound good. Add that to the convenience of no cords and it's the best headphone purchase I've ever made.
Above comments are excellent!!

Poor aesthetics and lack of colors are not the main functions of the AirPod. Who cares as long as they function well ON your ears.

You're right, you don't get it. I'm not concerned with aesthetics or color, All I could ask for is functionality and these deliver. They look exactly the same as the EarPods, except with the wire cut off.

I'm not concerned with what others think when I wear these. I actually forget I even wear these, that's how comfortable they are for me. Apple will eventually expand on the colors. But I understand they are not for everyone.
Above is another excellent comment.

I am wondering the commenter above is jealous because she or he could not afford it and blasting the product to make him or her feeling good.

Wow. Angry and rude. And so off on your comments. But it seems you have other issues at play here affecting your ability to interact.

i didn't realize these were still backordered. though I have been surprised to see more and more of these in the gym.

No. Apple recently updated the Airpods (3.7.2) with a software update and the base and treble have been reportedly increased. They sound better to me since day one of owning the Airpods.

Free shipping is one thing, but when will it ship? Ordered mine 2 days ago and it will arrive August 1st from Apple. Soon, the new iPhone launch will increase demand for them and then you have Christmas after that.

Just put my order in for a pair, should arrive Saturday. I'm looking forward to the auto pair to various Apple products. I am constantly going between listening to music from my iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. I currently have a pair of basic bluetooth headphones I connect to each. If I am working out at the gym, I'll connect to my iPhone and listen to tv shows or movies. But if I go for a run, I have to pair to my Apple Watch because I only bring that. And then I use my iPad at night when in bed. Each time I have to repair to the next device.

Has anyone pondered here for about a minute how successful these AirPods are? It's mid June and these launched in mid December and they're still having a six week prediction for delivery. That's unbelievable. Honestly, this has to be one of the better products Apple has launched in the last three years or so and They cannot manufacture enough of them to meet up with the demand. Outstanding job By Apple.

Haven't you heard that "White goes with everything"? :D

Not at all angry nor particularly rude. But funny coming from someone who previously used the phrase "snowflake generation" and said that people who wear skinny jeans don't care "how they present themselves or have too much good taste."

So calm down, snowflake.

In the one hand that's good to hear.
On the other it's the same cheap hardware, plus wireless. Why does wireless cost so much?

I agree that they aren't attractive, but I'm buying a pair now. Don't give a **** about what they look like.

BTW, 2 day shipping is coming up as 11 bucks for me. I don't care, I'll take standard shipping, I can wait.

I've also had great luck ordering from AT&T or Verizon. They have them with two day shipping usually.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't see free 2 day shipping at Best Buy so I ordered from Verizon with free 2 day and eBates cash back. Says they will deliver by Friday... crossing my fingers!

The snowflake generation is a real problem and is beyond out of control, seriously undermining humanity while supposedly and rather absurdly marching in defense of it, all the while rather driving us towards some elements of Idiocracy.

And while there are other names I am sure you could call me, that is not one that applies at all.

You complain about the looks of the AirPods, yet you wear the Dash which are also more expensive? Hmm...

Interesting how there is pretty much only universal acclaim.

I was in the Apple Store last night checking out the new iPads and I asked for a demo.
Having heard all the raving all over the internet I expected to be blown away. But I really wasn't.
The pairing was amazing. The fit was excellent.
But they were too soft and let in too much external noise (pretty much needed them at full volume to hear music in the Apple Store) and worst of all, they sounded a little flat. Hardly any base, and trebles weren't great either.

It surprises me to see all the good reviews. Unless, I'm in a minority when actually caring about sound quality?

Ordered mine and got shipping confirmation as well a couple hours later. Ordered around 12 and got shipping confirmation at 4pm.

I didn't complain about price. I also did purchase the Dash prior to the AirPods release and would do so again due to many design choices including the additional features on the Dash which can track fitness, be used untethered with internal storage, has a host of touch and motion based controls, and oh yeah, are waterproof and I can swim with. The Dash's audio transparency mode is a great addition. I would say the AirPods probably beat the Dash on ease of connectivity, switching between devices, and may edge it out slightly on battery life and the design of the charging case.
