I was going to get these, as my wired ones are not working right.

But not being able to control volume is a huge part of me passing on it.

I hope future versions have volume control.

they have volume control but only by voice, tap on it to activate siri and tell to lower or increase volume

Arizona...

One location had 6 pair - I was 7th in line
Location 2 had 7 pair - by the time I got there, I was 16th in line

This was 2+ hours before store opened. I'm pissed

Did they just say that one Apple Store received ONE pair to sell? Haha, that's totally ridiculous. To be honest, I don't think these will be difficult to pick up from a Store before Christmas or the new year if you really put your mind to it. They seem to be the only innovative thing Apple have done in the past ~2 years, they interest me for sure. But unless they sound better than the EarPods I got free with my iPhone, it's a no buy. I'm gonna have to try them me thinks. I may buy some and return them if I can't justify it.

Honestly, I love Apple as much as anyone on this board, but I'm a bit mystified by all the hype surrounding this product. What am I missing? o_O
Apple social hysteria marketing fervor? I mean, they are basically earrings. I guess everyone wants them...cool?

FYI, Apple didn't just invent bluetooth headphones, but line up I guess. Just Apple kool-aid at work here.

Prediction: it's resellers cashing in on the "a few days before Christmas supply vs demand" profit.

Craigslist: "IN-HAND NEW, SEALED AIR PODS RARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND - $350!!"

Yeah, got to my local store before they opened and there was already a line including some guy gloating about getting there at 5:00 am. I waited until they came out and announced that they only had 8 pair and I was number 11 in line. Disappointing, but I'll live.

The girl behind me was ridiculous. She started yelling at them how Apple sucked. I should have told her to clam down. I really felt bad for the older man ahead of me who wanted 2 pair for his grandkids, but he could only get 1 because they ran out.

Lady behind you was probably a re-seller/scalper.

via Siri you can control the volume.

But what if you're socially nervous and would rather change the volume discreetly? I usually turn volume way down before walking into a building or public transport, I get super self conscious about other people hearing my music because I absolutely hate it when I can hear someone else's. It's such an obnoxious thing.

A. They aren't earrings... they go IN your ears and play audio... they are HEADPHONES.
B. Apple didn't invent computers, smartphones, phones, tablets nor headphones, they just made them better.

Why are you here if you hate Apple so much?

Well, let me help explain something to you. What you want and feel about a product doesn't mean that everyone else feels the same way. Obviously you don't get it because you don't want it. But many others do. Try to think a little more globally.

I'll just wait for the next iPhone and get them then.

What does the next iPhone have to do with these airpods?

good lord don't people have to work?

love the logic.

airpods value < day off from work

Not everyone works every day. I often work a weekend and have some weekdays off. Like today.

Wow, triggered. I own lots of Apple stuff and simply dislike their AirPods. Sorry I ruined your day. It is possible to not swoon over every single item they manufacture.

I happen to like the apparent worst product ever produced according to MR...the 2016 tMBP. Stunned silence!!1

Mine got delivered this morning in the UK. They stay in my ears unlike any Apple earpods before.

I gotta say I agree with this. They look like the same shape of the ones that come with the iPhone but they do stay in better. Of course, I've only had them in for an hour. lol. I'm giving them a full day of use at least - phone calls, music, running to the subway, if I can fit in a work out later, etc - before any true judgements are made but so far so good. They sound nice.

Pulling the headphone out of your ear turns it off/pauses it. If you're going to be worried about everyone else in the world hearing your music or thinking you're weird because you said "Turn down volume" maybe you should stop leaving your house entirely... it might be your only safe haven.

My home is the only safe haven on this planet, that fact has not escaped me.

Ahaha, your response amused me but you definitely answered my predicament.

Thanks, I think some of the review I have read have some wrong/misleading info.

But, how do I increase or decrease the volume during a phone call? Using Siri?

Either way, I think I will pass for now. I like having the volume button right on the headphones, and with Siri being as buggy as it is, would find it frustrating having to use it to control the volume.

I need to replace my EarPods, but maybe they are covered on the iPhone warranty.

What do you mean that you can't control the volume? If you are expecting these to have a physical volume button on them, I think you are going to be disappointed. You'll have to do with your Watch, iPhone or Siri. A software update might give you more options with the taps. Right now you have the option of play/pause or Siri.

Fashion place in salt lake area had 20, line had formed by 6:30-they took names for reservations and let them go-when the store opened there was about 15-20 of us, who were all disappointed.

The two other locations in salt lake showed they had stock but didn't open for another hour-I'd be damned to try my luck at the other locations by that point.

IMO Apple really needs to step up their launches-these last minute (self imposed deadlines) with limited stock is bull*****.

Not just AirPods but the MIA LG 5k pre-orders...
