But what if you're socially nervous and would rather change the volume discreetly? I usually turn volume way down before walking into a building or public transport, I get super self conscious about other people hearing my music because I absolutely hate it when I can hear someone else's. It's such an obnoxious thing.
I agree that it would have been better if there was a way to change the volume via the AirPods directly, but I'll probably just do it from my phone (same for changing the track) - I'm not fully sold on using Siri to control them but the other features were enough to persuade me to give them a try

I think you have other issues if your volume is so loud on your earbuds that others can hear it. But, on the Airpods you can be very discreet and just use your iPhone or AW.

..but you can easily change the volume with your iPhone. Even if it's in your pocket you can reach the Volume-Buttons through your pants. Even with a Case they are still easy detectable.

Slightly off topic, but the Philadelphia Apple Store pictured there is the worst Apple Store I've ever been to. Poor scheduling for appointments, poorly trained staff, inaccurate stock claims. They seem to go out of their way to hire 'cool looking young hipsters' rather than competent workers. I've heard the manager is terrible, but for some reason they won't get rid of them.

Even though I live here, I usually go to an Apple Store in the 'burgs.

What do you mean that you can't control the volume?
Pretty much self explanatory.
If you are expecting these to have a physical volume button on them, I think you are going to be disappointed.

Yeah, it is disappointing, this is why I said I would pass for now.

Why is having a volume control on the headset something that I shouldn't expect? Many other bluetooth headsets have volume controls.

Using Siri to control volume is not the same, at least for me. Maybe the next version might be different.

Seriously? That's idiotic. Who wants to use voice or phone. You should be able to control everything audio via the headset
I was thinking the same thing. It is not like Siri works great most of the time now, I hate to give it more tasks to do.
Doing a web search on "lower the volume"

Yea, it is sad how often I have to look at my phone because Siri is not doing a simple task for me.

Did they just say that one Apple Store received ONE pair to sell? Haha, that's totally ridiculous. To be honest, I don't think these will be difficult to pick up from a Store before Christmas or the new year if you really put your mind to it. They seem to be the only innovative thing Apple have done in the past ~2 years, they interest me for sure. But unless they sound better than the EarPods I got free with my iPhone, it's a no buy. I'm gonna have to try them me thinks. I may buy some and return them if I can't justify it.

Correct. ONE pair. I was 3rd in line.

I gotta say I agree with this. They look like the same shape of the ones that come with the iPhone but they do stay in better. Of course, I've only had them in for an hour. lol. I'm giving them a full day of use at least - phone calls, music, running to the subway, if I can fit in a work out later, etc - before any true judgements are made but so far so good. They sound nice.

It's because the cable doesn't "push up" on them and push them up out of your ears. Tat's what always happened with the wired ones. The cable was the issue.. now thats gone they are snug :)

Really weird... showed up at Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco at about 8:45, was 3rd in line and about 15 behind me. Walked out at 9:01 with 2 pair of Airpods in hand, and there was no line when I left and they still had stacks of them. If anyone is nearby and needs some, that store still has them, or did 12 mins ago when I left the mall.

Tried to get a pair this morning. They ran out about 10 people in front of me (it looked like about 30 or so people did get some (looked like most people bought 2))

Waited at our Apple Store before work. I was the 3rd person in line. A guy comes out and lets us know that they received ONE for sale. ONE!! But they had plenty on demo for us to try....

Were you at the Knoxville store?
