Maybe they don't work 9-5 Monday through Friday or have earned vacations days they have to use by the end of the year. By the way, how are you commenting....shouldn't you be working right now?

Or just don't go in and punch a time clock ... weird when people comment about "don't people work?" ... clearly they're in jobs where they have to be there at a scheduled time and punch a time clock. Yeah people work, but just like I can take lunch whenever I'm hungry, I am an adult and can close when I come and go. I'm there to get a job done not provide one hour of labor for a flat rate.

Mine showed up this morning around 8am... (luckily FedEx delivers very early in my area) They are awesome. They are so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking them up.

OMG I love your comment. I literally cracked up. I can imagine you sitting in a lace chair with a tea and a biscuit as you typed this, hehe

So Apple can now make earbuds that get great reviews. Laptops, not so much. Very strange turn of events.

What? You can't control the volume via the iPhone volume controls?

Don't tell me I have to interact with Siri!!!!

You can change the volume with the iPhone (or an Apple Watch if you have one).

The Apple watch can increase or decrease the volume of content from the iPhone using the 'Now Playing' app.

Edited for more info.

This is under the assumption you're too lazy to take the phone out of your pocket.

Come on man... please stop making me spell things out on this website. You're smarter than this.

I'm surprised that people are lining up for these.

I think it's great for them, but not for me. I need something that I can easily remove from my ears while riding a bike, yet still be attached to me.

Thanks for letting us all know. Thousands of purchase decisions were hanging in the balance waiting for you to explain why you're not getting them and why you're surprised people are lining up for them.

Are you surprised people line up for bra sales at Victoria's Secret? They're not for you, so surely it's got to come as a major shock.

I used Siri all the time to skip ahead while listening to podcasts, so adjusting volume might not be the stretch I initially thought it was. That said, if I need to adjust volume without asking Siri to do it for me, there's always the digital crown on my Watch, and there are also the volume buttons right on my iPhone. No big deal.

Other bluetooth headsets I've tried either don't have built-in volume buttons, or are hard to locate by feel (Jaybirds).

Perhaps a future version of AirPods could add a Magic Mouse trackpad-like sensor to detect sliding one's finger up or down to adjust volume. There's probably scant room for additional components more given all the other compromises to balance: battery space, antenna performance, compactness, etc. Another thought is a software-based solution that normalizes volume and EQ based on source material and ambient noise picked up from the microphones.

I am impressed that the most important function for me on earbuds, play / pause, is solved very simply by removing one earbud. When I am out walking, that will be much simpler to do when I run into a friend or neighbor and wish to chat, vs. my current routine of reaching and finding the inline pause button, pressing it, then taking an earbud out.

If it's too inconvenient, then just don't reply. I'd rather have no answer from you than a condescending one.

FWIW, many people before me also asked the question and no one bothered to say the iPhone still controls the volume until a few posts later. When everyone says "no volume control but Siri", to me that means NO VOLUME CONTROL except through Siri.

Apple Store Lenox in Atlanta had about an estimated 100-150ish pairs. I showed up at exactly 10AM and there was a line of about 50ish people, as soon as I got there about 20-30 more people arrived behind me. About 20 minutes in, the employee let us know about the limit and how if people kept buying 2, it was going to be thin for us, they were letting 2 in at a time. We got in, and when I walked up they had 14 left, after I got my 2 and walked away, there were 8 left. I felt so bad for the about 40ish people left in line.

And they can make watches, just not desktops. And they can make AppleTV, just not tablets.

My point was that these earbuds seem to be widely praised; whereas the latest MacBook Pros were widely criticized. That's a strange turn of events for a company that started as a computer company.

This news is about tied with Apple Watch in the category of Please-Don't-Tell-Me-It's-Another-One-Of-These kinds of stories.

Thank goodness these are shipping finally. It's about time they stop making the headlines.

Honestly, I love Apple as much as anyone on this board, but I'm a bit mystified by all the hype surrounding this product. What am I missing? o_O

Perhaps you've not been using bluetooth headphones with your Apple Watch and iPhone, having to un-pair re-pair when changing sources (especially annoying before a workout at the gym).

Thank you for the informative and kind reply. ;)

Personally, I am OK with no controls on the Airpods...On my Plantronics BT headset, I am constantly accidentally hitting the power off instead of the volume and that becomes a mess! Another set I had also had touch volume controls that would touch wrong and start a pairing process or such. I'm happy with using the iPhone to control volume.

I dunno, I criticized the TB Macbook Pro here (see my history)... then I bought one, and it's literally the most fantastic computer I've ever owned. So I think often people (myself included) criticize without basis. I love the MBP.

Wow, triggered. I own lots of Apple stuff and simply dislike their AirPods. Sorry I ruined your day. It is possible to not swoon over every single item they manufacture.

I happen to like the apparent worst product ever produced according to MR...the 2016 tMBP. Stunned silence!!1

You listed a bunch of incorrect opinions and half truths. They aren't earrings and Apple made Bluetooth better with W1 chip, those are both facts. All I did was contradict your incorrect commentary with actual things of relevance.

If you don't want to feel vitriol from your peers on a site devoted to Apple products don't bash the actual users of this site for wanting to buy a product that doesn't fit your lifestyle.
Your post was as ignorant as one that includes words such as "Sheeple" and "Fandroid".

Perhaps by WWDC anyone who wants some AirPods or the 5k display or a Watch S2 will actually be able to just "get one easily"..

That'd be nice..
