$159 for the US and £159 for the UK, I don't care how much brexit has caused prices to go up or the poor exchange rate, but this is is ripoff for UK customers

If you take $159 and exchange it to pounds its about £125, add vat on top and it's about £150. Nice overcharging Apple.

You'd have to be stupid to think that you won't lose them. Also, you're giving up cords in place of some stupid charging case that you'll constantly need to charge... iSheep are hilarious.

whats the difference between having to charge the case and having to charge the headphones themselves like other BT headphones? if anything the case provides an added convenience because you are topping off the headphones when you have them stored and not using them. And the fact that the case provides about 24 hrs of power means you have to charge it less often than headphones which provide about 8hrs on their own. Not defending the airpods here but that argument doesn't make any sense.

Gaahhhh so torn on whether I want these. I'm on the phone for work a lot and I use my wired earbuds to make/receive calls... I feel like I'd use these a lot -- but I also feel like that's a lot of $$ just to get rid of a wire.

I'm also concerned about the impact these would have on my phone battery over using wired. I tend to turn brightness down and leave the screen on during a call in case I need to mute. As such, my battery is already somewhat taxed (the 7 Plus really does a good job w/battery though) so I'm wondering how much additional impact these would have.

A little bit of specious reasoning there ... the other way to view this is that demand is not that high. That's not to say there's no interest, but unlike the iPhone, nobody knows when these became available for pre-order, so there wasn't a rush to buy them at the stroke of midnight. And MR isn't really reflective of the level of demand that would affect inventory on the scale Apple sells.

Frankly, Apple should have put these on sale last week for delivery this week, and let the ship dates slip rather than try to get them all out during the highest package delivery period of the year. This assuming you are correct and they have enough inventory to keep up with 50+ million sales over the next two weeks.

Except pretty much every tech site and their twitter accounts have announced that the AirPods are available for purchase today. Demand since the initial announcement has remained high (if forums like this are any indication) and people have been anticipating for the last couple of weeks that these could go on sale at any moment.

So yes, within a 45 minute timeframe since they were announced I would've expected them to sell out considering. Now here we are at an hour and a half later and delivery times are still within this year (expected delivery Dec 29th). Guess it all depends on your view of "decent" amount of stock.

Buy em and return em within 14 days if they don't tickle your fancy.

HOLY CRAP 4 week wait now,

they weren't kidding about low production yields

either that or demand through the roof!

I suddenly feel immediately better about my 2 weeks, vs dec21 shipping if I acted right away :D

There are EU import duties too which adds another £12 or so pounds to the price.

I am a student, what was the discount? I only see the usual price on the education website? Any way I can call Apple and get the lower student price on my order?
I am not see any discount using the education discount option either. At least not here in Singapore.

I think these released so stealth-like that it took a bit for people to realize and find out about it. Once more people did, boom. Selling fast. Delivery dates slipping. I even took like a half hour to think about it and still got in the Dec 21 delivery date lol

I will contact apple support after work to see if there is any special pricing for students and if I can get that price. If they aren't willing to lower it, I can get it adjusted with my credit card company.

Yeah -- it's just more of a hassle for me. Closest store is in a bad spot and would take 40 mins to get there. So I have to do it all via mail. Just more of a pain... may just wait until first batch is through the pipe and see how it goes for folks...

Just ordered two pairs with a Dec 29 shipping date, I hope that's still accurate for me.
