I hope 2 weeks out is a conservative estimate to cover their iButts,

but if not it's do-able. it's not like these weren't delayed or anything as a general product launch..

Is anyone's order showing up in their iTunes order status page? My AirPod order is not showing up, but I have received the order confirmation at 9:08 AM EST.

You have a count of who ordered before the date got pushed or you just want to complain?

You do know the dates are "estimates" and often get pushed to same day, right?
This has literally never happened to me. My Apple Watch even got pushed back some after preorder and took until early June 2015 to deliver. I own most things that Apple makes—even more than what's in my signature.

As for the number, I was being sarcastic. Obviously I don't have an actual count, but considering there was no announcement of launch date ahead of time, it's quite surprising that they're already out of stock on a specialized $159 pair of earbuds that should have limited consumer appeal as it's a fairly new, niche product segment. I would be shocked if they sold more than 100,000 units within the first hour.

Delivery estimate of December 20 here in Thailand. Normally Thailand is treated as a back water and it takes a month or more to get new products. So it seems to me there are at least enough of these things for a world wide launch at one time.

Sure some places may be sold out already but that is normal and launches are typically one or two months later over here. I will watch the shipping dates but as these people are all a bunch of heathens that don't believe in Xmas I am guessing the rush isn't exactly on for the holiday season. :)

For once it pays to be in the UK!

Is it Monday yet?!

Lol but they're not out of stock right

Now, users can order the Bluetooth-enabledheadphones, which provide up to 5 hours of music playback and high-quality sound through a "seamless and automatic connection" between the AirPods and an iPhone. To charge the AirPods, the included travel case doubles as a charging station that provides up to 24 hours of battery life for the headphones.

So that means 5 hours out of the juice box and up to 24 with refills? So like almost 5 full charges of 5 hours (one session getting 4 hours) before connecting to the wall again?

Hmm

It also provides 3 hours of charge for every 15 min, or likely 5 min per hour, up to 3 hours (a full 5 takes 2 hours charging). There will be a lot incremental charging going on based on a listeners needs.

Except pretty much every tech site and their twitter accounts have announced that the AirPods are available for purchase today. Demand since the initial announcement has remained high (if forums like this are any indication) and people have been anticipating for the last couple of weeks that these could go on sale at any moment.

So yes, within a 45 minute timeframe since they were announced I would've expected them to sell out considering. Now here we are at an hour and a half later and delivery times are still within this year (expected delivery Dec 29th). Guess it all depends on your view of "decent" amount of stock.

I don't see tech journals reaching the 100 million iPhone 7 users who heard about the AirPods, that Apple stores were promoting until Apple missed its ship date. In fact I see them as a very minor portion of the total user base. Based on both how long, and quickly they sold out, I'd say two things here: demand was low, and stock was limited. But I'm certain most of Apples core customers were not among those who wanted to buy a pair.

$159 = £159?? What madness is this?? That being said.... ordered.

If you subtract your VAT, it actually comes out to the same price as USD (which is pretax). I'm sorry, but that's the way your currency right now.

If you take $159 and exchange it to pounds its about £125

Uh, pro tip: a headline exchange rate of $1.27 today doesn't mean that you can hand someone £1 and they'll give you $1.27. Money changers charge fees and run differential buy/sell rates, and while I know Apple don't exactly stroll up to the Forex booth at Heathrow airport, there are other costs to exporting and localising a product, complying with local laws, radio equipment standards etc. Apart from any import duties, UK/EU have stronger consumer protection laws than the US (inc. longer statutory warranties).

There have been times in the past when Apple and other US tech companies really have taken the Michael, with $1=£1 conversions when the £ was running at $1.60 but their current prices are pretty fair given the Post-brexit-vote £ and the fact that their last price review was based on the pre-Trump $.

Never mind - I see the shipping dates have already fallen back to next year - by the time they arrive, we'll be arguing about the exchange rate between the guinea and the rouble :)

Ordered. Seriously -doubt these will be better than my Solo 3s, but I'll try them out out of curiosity. I'll most likely be sending them back.

Falling out isn't the biggest problem, it's just putting them somewhere and then getting lost. Like keys, only smaller and way more overpriced. Also, there is a great solution for it already out there - a cord.

Watson, come here....

Sorry Apple, but you're too late. Already ordered a pair of Jabra Elites. $100 more but it's usable on non-Apple platforms and they will be in my hands tomorrow.

The Airpods work with any Bluetooth compatible device, you just don't get the benefits of the W1 chip.. I sure hope you didn't spend an extra $100 thinking that the airpods didn't work on non-apple devices.

I will contact apple support after work to see if there is any special pricing for students and if I can get that price. If they aren't willing to lower it, I can get it adjusted with my credit card company.

They aren't. Just tried and I am a student and military. Neither got a discount for me.

I did end up ordering with a Jan 12 delivery date.....slipped real fast. I am going to keep an eye out for the store release and just get some there and cancel my order though if it works out.

$159 for the US and £159 for the UK, I don't care how much brexit has caused prices to go up or the poor exchange rate, but this is is ripoff for UK customers

If you take $159 and exchange it to pounds its about £125, add vat on top and it's about £150. Nice overcharging Apple.

Yes, because retail space is by no means more expensive than in the USA. Imagine how great these will sound in the hospital when you enjoy your free healthcare. Your country is one of the most expensive places in the world. enjoy the pods on your 6 week paid holiday.
