Currently using the Amps Air too and I've noticed the same. It's got a really digital/distorted upper register that sounds horrible. Can't wait to return them once I get these.

EXACTLY. I bought them hoping they'd work since they are sweat resistant rated. Too bad. They do wonders at staying in your ear, but I'd take 'a included lightening headphones over those for quality, and that's sad!

Sorry Apple, but you're too late. Already ordered a pair of Jabra Elites. $100 more but it's usable on non-Apple platforms and they will be in my hands tomorrow.

Ordered 3 pairs in 2 separate transactions. Myself, bro, and sis (for Xmas). Arriving December 21st. Very excited.

Ordered mine, scheduled delivery for Dec 21st! I was 45 minutes late jumping on this, Apple must be planning to have a decent amount in stock.

A little bit of specious reasoning there ... the other way to view this is that demand is not that high. That's not to say there's no interest, but unlike the iPhone, nobody knows when these became available for pre-order, so there wasn't a rush to buy them at the stroke of midnight. And MR isn't really reflective of the level of demand that would affect inventory on the scale Apple sells.

Frankly, Apple should have put these on sale last week for delivery this week, and let the ship dates slip rather than try to get them all out during the highest package delivery period of the year. This assuming you are correct and they have enough inventory to keep up with 50+ million sales over the next two weeks.

so far even an hour later there is no date in delivery so hopefully this means they are producing plenty or enough to know what the market wants.

Can't wait to hear what people really think after using these (hilariously ugly) things.

I also wonder how many people that end up not liking them will be labeled as haters or trolls by the apologists.

I just don't see wireless headphones trumping wired ones, particularly in regards to sound quality and consistency (no audio dropouts). And the slippery hard plastic will slide right out of sweaty ears, so I'm not sure about that either, especially in warm/humid climates.

But the functionality in Apple's ads appears to be pretty nice, which is not surprising given their marketing prowess.

We will see. I will be sharing my experiences with them when I get them, should anyone care to listen. I might like them, or I might end up being disappointed. Time will tell.

For me, I intend to use them outside when I am on the move. As such, I would prize convenience and ease of use more than sound quality. At home, I have a pair of Sony headphones which sound great.

Just hope I don't be that guy who ends up dropping one of the Airpods in the toilet bowl...

Yay! Saw the post and ordered immediately. So one hour after the first post, for delivery Wed Dec 21.

I'm curious about them. I already bought a set of Powerbeats3 and just love them. I hated my tangled mess of wires before, and these work just great. It will be interesting to see how the AirPods work in comparison. I like the connectivity the W1 chips gives.

I will indeed, thanks for your concern though. If people are able to steal air pods from a 6'9 guy then there must have a great reach

not to mention most people already carry $200+ headphones that are way bigger than the small recharging container that the AirPods come in. I think I may actually give these a try even though i have beats studio and beatssolo2 wireless. Worst case scenario is I just return them if I don't like them.

Ugh. I want one real bad, but I feel like I need to wait for gen 2. With the delays, the new tech, and the new bluetooth 5 coming, I feel like I need to resist the urge!

I kind of want those Bragi The Headphones but I'm waiting for those to get released and reviewed and tweaked. They look cool and are noise cancelling.

Like others said, there was never a time frame for these to go on sale. Unless you are reading a news forum or happen to go to apple.com in the last hour, you have no idea you can buy them. I would expect times to slip as the day goes on.

Do these have a magically better sound than the wired earbuds?

my next thought, do these sound the same as the earbuds that came with the 7? If they sound the same the price tag just to get rid of the wires is a little nuts.....But I think I will still try and return if I don't think they are worth it.

No, as it's consistently been with this Bluetooth "the future," the whole movement is NOT about sound quality or fixing the sound latency issues... it's about anything & everything else that can be spun except for those fundamentals, particularly the (apparent sudden & recent) issue of wires getting in everyone's way. Per a thread a few days ago, even Bluetooth 5 doesn't appear to do much about sound quality or the latency issue- just lets users experience the lower quality and latency from a little further from the device.

Horray for "the future." Now ditching the headphone jack makes so much more $en$e! :p

I think more people are likely to steal phones than air pods as well. I'm going overboard by getting beats solo3 as well to use at home pretty much. alot of money but as long as i get good use out of them will be worth it

If you are that clumsy then get an AirPod strap.

The AirPod case provides up to 24 hours of charge. A fifteen minute charge in the case allows for three hours of AirPod use.
Airpod strap? Is that a joke? So I need a strap for my cordless headphones? You see the absurdity in that right? It's not just me? Right?

I love Apple. I will wait to order even though I was originally one who was going to order as soon as they were available. Too many mis-steps by Apple lately. Never thought I'd see the day where my confidence in Apple had me waiting to see how a product turns out before ordering. I hope everyone is pleased when they receive them.
Why is your trust dampened? If there is an issue, it will eventually be corrected or they will be recalled. If you simply dislike them, return them, no questions asked. This isn't a fly-by-night shop that's gonna skip town with your cash. I think your fear is a bit exaggerated.
