AirPods Might Not Launch Until January 2017

In all likelihood , Apple will not let BeatsX cannibalize potential sales of Airpods and will delay those from being released too.
At the moment BeatsX is only obtainable by 'celebrities' (even Andi Peters has a pair!) , so get contacting your agents!!

Seriously - this is a complete mess. Tim Cook proves yet again that he doesn't have what it takes to run a company such as Apple.
We need a 'product centric' man at the helm, not a 'bean counter'

The design is 100% done. There are many of these out in the wild being reviewed now. The delay is due to the orders of millions that Inventec cannot deliver to Apple in time.
 
So much for the supply chain manager extraordinaire Tim Cook.....
 
This would never have happened on Steve's watch! (conveniently forgetting the white iPhone 4 that got delayed for 9 months).
Seriously though, I'm more interested in beatsX. They have the W1 chip too, they'll be out this year, they're available in black... and they don't make you look like your ears are leaking candle wax.

Apple need to be careful with this, as people who aren't as interested in Apple news like us here, could have forgotten about these by now. There was so much hype after the event in September, you could argue these could have even been an impulse buy for those getting an iPhone 7.
At the very least I would think they have to make Christmas.

I wonder what the hold up is?

Make up your mind. Do we need a visionary and innovator or do we need a product guy? Tim Cook is the product guy and best at supply chain. If he couldn't get a few million of these Airpods built and delivered in time for holidays, no one on Earth could.

The actual product - the iPhone 4 phone was not delayed. Just the colour.
So you cannot compare it to this debacle.
 
Who in their right mind actually find these things a) comfortable and b) containing good sound quality? IMO just because Apple makes them doesn't mean that they're actually any good. Pass.
 
I've been eagerly anticipating the next Apple bluetooth headset, after they discontinued the original black one back in 2009, so I can wait another few months if I have to. I did see someone in the audience at the recent keynote wearing a pair, but I would guess from testing internally and externally, that they have some things to fix on them yet, hence the delay.

they have been sticking with a Fall release date for quote some time now. Even after the fact of delaying the airpods the first time. I do believe the Beats X will release prior to the Airpods due to that alone.

I shocked when i saw the price!!
RM 849 = $ 203
Most apple accessories price here are equivalent to what apple announce in dollars.
I was thinking to get one but not with this price

I hope they're redesigning them.

PS someone had a beta version on the plane and the pairing will launch on anyone's iphone.

Kind of annoying.

No, I walk around at work 8 hours a day with a single earbud hanging out of my head. The second they revealed the single pod mode I reached for my wallet. I won't have to have wires hanging down my neck into my shirt anymore or when I'm biking.

I HATE the bluetooth earbuds that connect with a wire (not comfortable for me and still ends up with an earpiece hanging down my shirt because I have to have one ear open to listen to incoming radio calls) and I can't stand the "suction cup" earphones that block off your ear entirely.

EarPods have always been my favorite headphones for comfort and functionality (I listen almost exclusively to podcasts and Congressional/Senate hearings) so Airpods are fulfilling my use case 100%.

Can't wait.

Well if that's the case then Apple might as well redesign them to get rid of the UGLY 'earring' drop.

There are plenty of new wireless earbuds coming out now that don't have that ugly overhang and fit snuggly in the ear.

Looking forward to reading your complete review of the product you have obviously tested. Hopefully you can post some pictures of you wearing them. I say this knowing you would not post these comments on MR simply having seen the Keynote (if that).
