They've actually manufactured millions of them, but they keep losing them in the couch cushions before they get in the box. :)

Not out by Christmas? Huge miss by Apple if that's true. Shocking, honestly.

No question that they should have been available within a week of the iPhone 7 launch.

Well if that's the case then Apple might as well redesign them to get rid of the UGLY 'earring' drop.

There are plenty of new wireless earbuds coming out now that don't have that ugly overhang and fit snuggly in the ear.
You mean the tube specifically engineered to allow more resonance and airflow and therefore increased bass response vs. the same design without?

Yea that makes sense....

Hopefully delaying announced products isn't a trend for them now. I am waiting with baited breath for the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and hopefully I will see those in Best Buy stores pretty soon.

Yeah, some people tend to forget that there’s more fruit than apples ;-)

I still am slightly apprehensive about how they're going to work. The Jaybirds have a very high centre of gravity, the fin, an expandible canal grippy bud, and the connecting wire... and until the 3rd iteration, they were prone to flying out. It's only with the X3 that's cured for me... I wish I could buy them, outside of the trade shows.

The Airpods have none of that... I don't see how the design has compensated for any of the issues wireless buds have been trying to fix for years.

This is one of the reasons they kept the standard mic jack on the new MacBook Pro models just released. These air pods are just not ready for the public, Apple rushed this to production before perfecting the product.

Darn I was really really really looking forward to these. I can't tell you how badly I'd love something that can't get yanked out of my ears by the vacuum, workout equipment, or my cat.
Well certainly not the vacuum or workout equipment. I'm sad to say that your cat will be a different story, all cats are *******s...fluffy adorable little *******s :D

I have been waiting on these... Bummer they aren't already out , as promised in September... Now we are being told possibly not until Jan. 2017..? blah!

Ouch. This was supposed to be the justification for getting rid of the headphone jack. I agree with Apple that it's a good pitch but they have to had made it available at the same time as the iphone 7.

The new MacBook Pro would have been in production (or at least ready for production) long before the AirPods delay was realized. Apple still believed they were shipping AirPods in October when the iPhone 7 was announced early September. It was only between the announced launch date in September and the delay in October that the issue causing the delay was discovered (or at least became bad enough to cause a delay). The new MacBook Pros were not developed anywhere near that time period.

The actual product - the iPhone 4 phone was not delayed. Just the colour.
So you cannot compare it to this debacle.
The white color option was delayed due to an unforeseen manufacturing problem. Same thing here, just that in this case it happens to affect a product that only comes in one color. The consequences differ (50% delivery failure vs 100%). The level of incompetence doesn't.

When was the last time Apple said "available now" in regards to a flagship product?

None of their products have ever been available day of announcement. iPhone? iPads? Given the sizeable numbers they move at the beginning of iPhone sales, shouldn't be something to scoff at.

If this means they can get volume up/down and next song previous song integration without Siri then I might actually take a look at these.

I ride the subway a lot, Siri does not work without service.. what idiot thought that was a good idea.. please tell me they fired them

Disappointed if true but I'd rather wait until they are ready for prime-time. Of course people will complain about this. If Apple released them last month and there were niggling issues, you'd all complain, so shut up, wait a few months and enjoy the product when it's released.

Yes, it would've been good if they were released before Christmas but so what? There are many other products available.

I wanted to gift them to myself on Christmas

Haha. Wrap them up with a blindfold and write on there:

"Dear [NAME]", Happy Christmas, Love from [NAME]."
