I agree. They look to be the most uncomfortable, and easily lost device of their type. The choice of white is also questionable cause they look silly in the ear.

You must think everyone with regular EarPods looks silly too, cuz they look just the same except no dangling wire.

Clearly people who claim they look silly are simply talking out of the other hole located on the undercarriage of your bum.

I have a love/hate relationship with my AirPods. On ios11 I've had a lot of issues, so it might just be that (didn't have them before the beta). Here are my issues:

1. With 1 in my ear and 1 out of my ear, but not in the case, music still seems to stream to both AirPods. This messes with the stereo output. I have to physically put the unused one back in the case to get stereo out of one side. With 'auto ear detection' I don't see why it operates this way.

2. Occasionally, pulling the 1 AirPod out of my ear doesn't actually stop the audio, so listening to an audiobook gets frustrating because it keeps playing and it's hard to figure out where I actually left off.

3. I thought auto-pairing would be a bit nicer. Switching between watch/phone/ipad should be more seamless. While it auto-pairs to the iPhone correctly about 95% of the time, if I pair manually to my iPad, and later try to pair to the phone, I always have trouble. Just thought W1 would be cleaner than it is.

4. Double-tap to play/pause only works intermittently. Seems the app being used behaves differently. Some apps will play with a double-tap, but not pause, others pause but won't play. I think Apple Music is the only one that reliable plays and pauses with double-tap.

5. Wish you could slide your finger up and down the side to raise or lower volume, like a touch panel. Having an Apple Watch makes control with Now Playing MUCH better. I can't imagine liking the AirPods as much without an Apple Watch.
How do I put it nicely ... you cannot complain about a product that you’ve only used with beta software.

1. That shouldn't happen. Never has for me for more than a second on iOS 10. Sounds like a beta issue.

2. Also sounds like a beta issue. This feature has always been consistent for me on iOS 10.

3. Agreed. The only disappointing behavior of the AirPods is that they aren't consistent or fast at connecting. I often hear them connect to iPhone when I put them in my ears, then see them disconnect on the screen two seconds later. Then when I double-tap one, it reconnects again.

Also, while we're on the inconsistency train, sometimes the AirPods battery levels will show on Apple Watch, and sometimes they won't. Can't seem to find any reason for that.

4. Haven't tried it much (mine are set to activate Siri).

5. That would be awesome. You know that'll be AirPods 2. ;)

it might be just iOS11... When first I initially got my airpods i had some problems with the "seamless pairing" on iOS10... but then they fixed it, and it works seemlessly now. it even seemless switches between my car and airpods.

Must be iOS 11 as I don't have any of those problems on 10.3.3.

I do agree with on on the auto-pairing. If I used them last on my iPhone and wanted to use them on my iPad, it would be nice if I could just swipe up from the bottom and choose the AirPods instead of having to un-pair them from the phone first. And using Siri is weird. Hopefully Apple will work those bugs out by the time iOS 11 is released. It would be nice to be able to control more functions.

Other than that, I love them. They're comfy and stay in my ears fine, even at the gym, reclined as well as when running. I think they sound great. Enough bass for my tastes. Battery life is good and recharging is very fast. As a side note, I've only seen one other person wearing them at our gym.

Ummm. I'm not an english expert, but shouldn't it read: "...Tim Cook has routinely said DEMAND continues to significantly outpace SUPPLY." The way it's written doesn't make sense and seems like there's no demand for the airpods.

Alright folks, what's the prediction... will there be a gen 2 coming out when the new iPhone? Really tempted to buy the custom colour ones a 3rd party company makes(unfortunately has a delivery date of OCT! at the moment) or do I wait to see when the new iPhone releases...

No.

If Apple, with all their supply chains, can't get these down to quick ship, then Nintendo has no chance to keep up with demand for the SNES Classic. Granted I'm sure the SNES Classic is much easier to manufacture.

Ehm, you wouldn't have to un-pair your AirPods from your iPhone to use them on your iPad in this scenario...

I switch my AirPods between my iPhone, iPad and Mac all the time, and I never have to unpair from a device to connect to another.

You just connect them via Control Center, AirPlay button on videos or in the BT settings, and the previously connected device will be automatically disconnected (why would the AirPods keep a connection to the other device anyway?).

I love my AirPods. They are one of my favourite Apple purchases. I just love the way that I can stream music from my phone to the AirPods and use my watch to select and control what I am playing

You actually spent your time doing this?

These kinds of posts are so hilarious and embarrassing for the poster. You say they "look" uncomfortable. Yet you don't have one in your ear as I do right now and can tell you I can barely even tell they are in my ear.

As far as "silly" goes, you obviously are very concerned about how you look to the world and your friends. I could care less how "silly" my pods look. If you don't want to see them, don't look. The dumbest people in the world are on these forums, as you so easily prove.

I love them. I love the Apple Pencil as well.

Imagine when they make AirPods in black or different colors....

Guys, are they really that good to still be this constrained?
I just don't see them as this big a deal.... hmmm

Depends on what you mean by "good." They are very convenient and, for me, comfortable. I can't say mine have been trouble free but I still like them (functionally, not aesthetically). You can have a phone conversation with them outside and unless an ambulance is whizzing buy the person on the other end can't tell. Same if it's a windy day. I can't say that about my Jaybird Freedom F5s, which are BT but connected to each other by a wire.

For music only I like my Freedom's better because they are more discrete and the Jaybird app includes an equalizer so you can adjust the sound of the buds to the type of music you are listening too. There are pre-sets too if you don't want to fiddle around too much.

I don't think the AirPod constraint is due to demand, but rather low production. Remember these were delayed past the announced release time period and before one set was even sold Apple said there would be limited amount available. I think the case is problematic. I've had to exchange one and now the replacement is a bit wonky, sometimes only charging one bud.

Verizon ships faster and they have a promo when you buy 2 get $50 off. So yeah Apple created this unicorn supply constraints obviously. I hope I didn't offend somebody for bashing Apple for this. Because people here are very sensitive it's so 2017 to offend everyone.

"Ditto" to all of the comments that say "yes." Additionally, they are the best bluetooth headset for phone calls I've ever used. So if you make phone calls, the clearity of the mic and audio superb. On HD Voice calls I can't that my wife is using them.

So, I had to go back upstairs to get my AirPods so I could try this, and you're right. However, the option to connect my iPad to my AirPods wasn't there the first time I tried it. I had to unpair them from my iPhone before they showed up in my iPad's Control Center. Works great now, though. Thanks.
