You must think everyone with regular EarPods looks silly too, cuz they look just the same except no dangling wire.

Clearly people who claim they look silly are simply talking out of the other hole located on the undercarriage of your bum.

Well, I might be talking out of that hole, but, as an owner and wearer of AirPods I am honest and brave enough to admit they look idiotic and strange. But I only wear them when I run so I'm already not looking my best and they are quite comfortable and freeing so I don't give a flip. But they do not look the same as wired buds. They look like white earrings. Maybe some dudes can pull that look off. I cannot.

The first one actually looks cooler, although inconvenient. The long protruding stick on the AirPod looks very ugly and strange, without a wire attached to it. Bragi's design is way way way better.

No, they’re not that good. When you mix hardcore apple fanboys with expensive EarPods, the fanboyism gets fierce.

Funny you'd use "fanboyism" when it seems you might be a fanboy of some other logo. Just a guess there.

If not your assessment of AirPods is empty. It's clear you never even tried them. But for BT buds they are at least on par with the other BT buds in the $150 price range. For phone conversations they do a great job of blocking out background noise, something many other BT buds in that price do not do. The sound is OK. No, they don't sound like $300 Shure wired buds. They don't cost $300 either.

Which is sillier:

Well, not really fair. The woman wearing the AirPods is cute. Cute girls can get away with lots of silly things that guys can't pull off. That's just a fact of nature. Look it up. :D

I've rarely seen such a consensus for a product - most on this forum seems to like them. Am I correct though that there is no way to change the volume from the AirPods directly, through some kind of tap or gesture without having to actually talk to Siri? I would hate having to pull out my phone every time I need volume adjustments, which happens quite often with my music library... The absence of built-in volume control, like on the wired Apple headphones or on most wireless other headphones, seems like a deal breaker for me.

Guys, are they really that good to still be this constrained?
I just don't see them as this big a deal.... hmmm
I feel it's constrained because Apple can't make enough to meet the demand. That means there is some production/yield/quality control issue with some part associated with it due to which the volume of sellable parts is not enough. I will wait it out..till they are able to stock a full inventory!

Don't know if supply is better or just that people have begun buying them but I see them every day now. Just today I had two customers with them in ear, same yesterday. Apple Watch is also becoming more common. At least ten customers today with an Apple Watch.

Have been using them daily since Christmas. So happy I didn't wait more than ten minutes from them going live on Apple's homepage. I have owned a bunch of BT headphones and speakers. These things are above all else. First I could never think about using wires again., now I can barely use any other headphones.

I'm glad I have the ears for them. Sits nice for running, workouts and rope skipping.

So, I had to go back upstairs to get my AirPods so I could try this, and you're right. However, the option to connect my iPad to my AirPods wasn't there the first time I tried it. I had to unpair them from my iPhone before they showed up in my iPad's Control Center. Works great now, though. Thanks.

I'm glad that I could help you with this tip!

I do think the switching process could be even easier. For example, when you open the case near your devices, there's this popup sliding from the bottom of the screen that shows the AirPods and battery life. This popup will appear even if they're currently connected to another device. Why can't we tap on this popup to connect the AirPods right away?

Also, Control Center in iOS 11 makes it harder to switch the audio output. You now have to 3d-touch or long press the music widget, then tap on the airplay icon, then select the AirPods. I hope they improve this before the final release...

The Airpods are otherwise great, but they just don't fit my ears all that comfortably. Beats X meanwhile, fit phenomenally well.

Just bought a pair today at my Local Target, only allowed to purchase 2 per visit

Ehm, you wouldn't have to un-pair your AirPods from your iPhone to use them on your iPad in this scenario...

I switch my AirPods between my iPhone, iPad and Mac all the time, and I never have to unpair from a device to connect to another.

You just connect them via Control Center, AirPlay button on videos or in the BT settings, and the previously connected device will be automatically disconnected (why would the AirPods keep a connection to the other device anyway?).

You're right, you don't have to unpair, but I'd love some more intelligence behind how it connects. Say, when my iPad is in the vicinity of my AirPods, have it popup on my iPad as well and if I click 'connect' there, it pairs straight to my iPad. Also, once I do pair it to my iPad, it doesn't seem to want to auto-pair to my iPhone, even when my iPad is far away. I have to use Control Center the first time.

"but CEO Tim Cook has routinely said supply continues to significantly outpace demand"

Other way around Macrumors.

I am obviously in the minority, but the sound is "OK" but I can't get over how silly they look. They look like straws hanging out of your ear, or earrings or gauges. Definitely look better on women than men. They have to make a different color than white soon so they don't look so friggin prevalent.

I opted for the Beats x, same chip, lightning cable charging and they sound great, can be used for exercise, battery life is outstanding, 5 minutes charges an hour.

be easier driving 2 hours to an Apple store, then waiting this long. Even if its not your local Apple Store, at least you'll get them quicker.

No, they genuinely do look like a pair of unfashionable earrings or something. But if you like them, why should you care?

Yeah, that is why I thought it was a deal breaker for me at first as well and why I put off buying them for 6 months. BUT now that I've had them for a couple of moths, I think they are, as most are saying, bloody awesome.

Here are my problems after 2 months of use...

1. Colour - wish there was a black version. White stands out too much for my liking.
2. Connectivity between different devices. Apart from my 6s+, I've got a 4 year old laptop and desktop and an iPad air 1. So maybe with newer devices the connecting between devices is more seamless. Yesterday they wouldn't connect to my laptop even though I clicked them in my BT task bar area multiple times.
3. Checking the battery level doesn't seem to work every time. Open the case near your phone and sometimes it won't show up on the screen.
4. Lag in sound starting up when editing in Keynote (El Capitan, so that could be fixed with Sierra). It makes them impossible to use. But I've seen video where people use them for FCP editing (I have older FCP and haven't tried them with that yet)
5. No volume control (only Siri or device).

In saying that, you can overlook these issues because...

No wires is liberating in a way that I could never have imagined. I know it sounds cliche, but until you try them, you just can't imagine how convenient they are. The charging case is also a killer. The Beats X are fiddly with having to plug them in to a powered source to charge them. The Airpods are truly free from any power source. The case is actually smaller than I expected too.

If you're an audiophile I definitely don't think these earphones are your best choice but for somebody like me who uses public transport and uses headphones at work and watches a lot of movies on the go, they are such a liberating product. One of the best Apple has released in many a year.

Great product.
Got lucky few weeks ago when I went to buy on the Apple store and were in stock. Picked up at Toronto Eaton Centre store at 2:00 pm. Sales lady said they got 500 in the morning and still have 100 in stock. So selling 100 an hour out if one store.

Don't worry, some people have way too much money and time on their hands.
Not really! The AirPods are really better than the launch of the original iPhone itself. It is good

They are by far my favorite thing Apple has made yet. They are pretty amazing
Totally agree. More revolutionary than the launch of the original iPhone. This things rocks

Nice assertion. But naturally you will encounter Apple fanatics on an Apple based Website. In any case, the Airpods work for others, but overall their success seems to supersede your anecdotal opinion of "No, they're not good." And your narrative offers no insight why you believe this other than one comment.
