Mine shipped as well. But I checked FedEx tracking as it still said "PFS" earlier. The tracking by Reference helped. Mines due for 12/20/16 Delivery. I'm in the U.S. Mine's being shipped from Mount Joliet, TN. Being that the weather we have right now, slight chance of delay.

I still cannot understand why anyone would buy these as they are substantially inferior in sound compared to most other wireless earbuds.

Not only that, they are a heck of a lot more expensive too!

Plus you can lose them!

And then pay an additional $70 to replace one! Ridiculous.

It just boggles me. I have the Jaybird X2's which I got for $80 and they've been serving me incredibly well with exceptional sound, and they have a band around both earpieces so you don't lose them.

This is how the AirPods should've been, Apple.

  • Have you listened to the AirPods already and tested that they're "substantially inferior in sound compared to most other wireless earbuds?" Lucky you, especially since NO one (who has ordered them last week) in the world has received a pair. Could you kindly enlighten us with your article and testing methods?
  • Maybe some people don't want the wire between the two earbuds?
  • Maybe people just want to use ONE earbud when taking calls or listening to a podcast?
  • Maybe you just don't buy them if you don't like them?
  • Maybe you should design the next/real AirPods?
Genuine questions.

I had these for about a week. Then I returned them...EarPods sound just as good if not better...to me at least...everyone is different. The stupid cord....always got caught on something. Shirt, hood, mainly. They didn't stay in my ears all that great even with the wings on them.

Not according to 'Rolling Stone'

http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/review-apple-airpods-are-pretty-f--king-cool-w446877

You all need to temper your opinion and stay away from the hyperbole.

There's a lot of good in these, but yes the $$ add up. In the market place the price is really appropriate when compring to other quality Bluetooth devices.

And the latest Apple Earbuds actually has favorable reviews (2009)
http://www.trustedreviews.com/Apple-In-Ear-Headphones-review

I purchased a high-end earbud thinking I would get a better sound than the Apple ones that came with my iPhone 6. Based on reviews I acquired "Skull Candy" buds priced about $60 and hated them. The sound was tinny, no range and bass so I switched back to the Apple buds. I have tried and directly compared the Apple with Sennheiser and yes there was a small improvement, but for the price (on sale around $60.) they weren't worth it.

Ok I guess my old ears don't have the dynamic range many of you do so I can't fully appreciate what spending a lot on the buds will do for me. But choices is a good thing and makes the market tick (employing people to be able to buy this stuff)!

Since you don't have these maybe you shouldn't comment on the quality? Or just leave this thread?

I'm not interested either. I haven't got any clue regarding the quality of these buds and won't make a statement
. I like the idea of the AirPods, but they are not subtle enough.
No way I'm going to yell 'next song' in public or during sports. iTunes is constantly on shuffle and I skip a lot of songs.

if these were more subtle like 'tap 2 times on the right ear to skip a song" vs "tap one time on left ear to pick up a phone call", I'd seriously consider them.

It's the Siri integration that's too much. :D

The Airpods are absolutely amazing, they will make billions for Apple.

You might recall people making fun of the iPhone before / during during launch... and also the iPad.... so haters, how is that going? The Airpods are the FIRST Bluetooth headset DONE RIGHT with attention to quality. In a few years, people will be referring to "Airpods" as any Bluetooth headset, just like "iPad" means tablet, or "iPod" means MP3 player.

Well done Apple, try again haters.. better luck next year.

If we wanted the "wired" Bluetooth headsets we would have gotten some years ago. These are completely wireless and more convenient. I had Bluetooth headsets since 2010. The AirPods may not be the best sounding but they will be more convenient for me.

I can listen to music and be able to take calls with it without the audio going to both head buds. I don't want to have stereo sound when talking to someone on the phone, that is awkward.

I tried one of those other wired wireless things and it was impossible to get working properly let alone keep charged. These Apple ones are a better thought out solution.

Then just turn off the Siri integration:
(from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207009)

"Choose your double tap
When you double-tap either AirPod, you can use Siri to control your audio content, change the volume, or do anything else Siri can do. You can also choose to have double tap only play and pause your content, or you can turn it off completely."

Should answer your first question.

As for your second question: have fun losing them then.

Third question: you can do this with any wireless Bluetooth earbuds.

Fourth question: you're absolutely right, I won't buy them because they're a waste of money.

Fifth and final question: good idea actually, I could probably do a better job.

Any more?

All the reviews have said the mic picks up even the quietest voice commands, so you won't have to yell or even speak loudly to get the commands to trigger.

You do realize things like "terrible sound quality" and "waste of money" are subjective things. I think the EarPods (and thus, the AirPods) sound good and I use them daily. I also don't consider the cost of the AirPods to be "expensive" nor a waste.

I ordered a pair and waiting for it on 20th of December.
In the meantime, I could see and hope that in the future they will allow configuration of tapping.
Foe example:
Tap on left headset 2 times - goes to next song, 3 times to previous.
Tap on left/right headset once - get SIRI
Tap on right 2 times volume down, 3 times - volume up.

I wish for something like this.
