I ordered a pair and waiting for it on 20th of December.
In the meantime, I could see and hope that in the future they will allow configuration of tapping.
Foe example:
Tap on left headset 2 times - goes to next song, 3 times to previous.
Tap on left/right headset once - get SIRI
Tap on right 2 times volume down, 3 times - volume up.

I wish for something like this.
I wouldn't be surprised if they do add some more functionality once they start getting some usage data, like how many times people actually use Siri on them. I'm taking a wait and see approach with Siri. I stopped using Siri altogether on my watch because of the crazy lag.

I like your idea of taps to next/prev a song. I think that would be very useful to a lot of people. You're more likely to use that than Siri I imagine.

I could probably do a better job.

I love statements like this!

Then "do better!"

From a product design standpoint, aesthetically it's fine, but on a person, I think they look goofy.

If you look at the Apple video, with only one Airpod worn shown from a side view, it doesn't look too bad. But photos online looking face on, with both Airpods, it looks dorky.

Why have we not seen very many if any, pics of Jony Ive or Tim Cook wearing these things (perhaps they feel the same as I do)?

Just my opinion. I know it's all subjective and it may look 'normal' in a few years.

You know looks more goofy? Those ridiculous looking Beats over the ear headphones that everyone has. Either they're wearing it over their head in public or around their neck. Still goofy looking. I even see people wearing it at the gym. Now that is goofy.

All of a sudden the EarPods without the wires are goofy.

I'm hoping that with the retail availability on Monday, I will be able to order them online with store pick-up. Otherwise, I don't think I will be getting a pair before Christmas. Time will tell....

Mine shipped. Coming a day early. I blame Tim Cook.

(Had to fit in with the average irrational MacRumors poster.)

Just for completeness:
- Apple is so doomed.
- Tim Cook needs to be uninstalled.
- This never would have happened if Steve were still alive.

UPDATE: I'm a long time Apple fan but might switch to [Brand X] because [x, y, z].

If anyone (especially) in other parts of the world than Australia has any real world questions they want answered that haven't been covered to date, post here and I'll try to get them answered as soon as mine get delivered tomorrow!

I'm the reverse, I really dislike those ancient head vises known as headphones that made a come back about ten years ago. Earbuds are lighter and much easier to wear and wearing headphones basically say, "xxxx off, leave me alone," more than the white buds. The statement is more in your face while listening in public.

Maybe I used the wrong word, should have used earbuds instead, because Earin is all in the ear and doesn't say xxxx off, even though I think i have mistakenly been taken for an agent a couple of times.

Beware on those FedEx estimates. I have had numerous packages from FedEx over the past 10 days and their system is completely trashed right now. I'm guessing it is from the holiday shipping volume, but almost all of my estimates have been wrong and showed up a day or more later than projected. I'm in CA so maybe it's a local issue, but just a heads up.

I still cannot understand why anyone would buy these as they are substantially inferior in sound compared to most other wireless earbuds.

Not only that, they are a heck of a lot more expensive too!

Plus you can lose them!

And then pay an additional $70 to replace one! Ridiculous.

It just boggles me. I have the Jaybird X2's which I got for $80 and they've been serving me incredibly well with exceptional sound, and they have a band around both earpieces so you don't lose them.

This is how the AirPods should've been, Apple.

Apple already makes these with a W1 chip -- available now are the PowerBeats3 and coming soon BeatsX. All have better battery life, decent sound, and superior compatibility with Apple products than the x2s.

And as a personal preference, I'd rather take a chance on losing them than have an awkward wire linking them.

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this post. Do you work for the company that makes Jaybird?

No, while there are legitimate complaints about Apple and Cook, he's mocking all of the frivolous, asinine, stupid, etc. complaints that are posted here with regular frequency.

Maybe you like the two product lines apple has actually updated in the past two years (the watch, the macbook).
So anyone who's pissed about the various products neglected or cancelled - is being frivolous. Yep.
