Ah, that's literally what they were working on or the feature wouldn't even be here. The best you can do is to claim that they did not neglect fixing bugs.
No, that's the best you can claim seeing you postulated the original post. It's along the lines of fix bugs or implement emojis as if the same people were serializing emojis and bug fixes.

This has got to be part of Apple’s strategy to get you to buy it right from them. I was also waiting for a sale at a third party, but man do I want an engraved Memoji!

Especially when they start to get discounted. Do you want to pay full price or $199 from Amazon?

I'm pretty sure the teams that fix bugs and the teams that do this sort of thing are not the same.
One team for UI things like this, another for other aspects of iOS. I would believe that. It's a real shame they don't have the ability to move people between teams, though, because the bugs could really use more attention.

Engraving from Apple has always been about 'final sale'. Engrave your iPod? Can't return it. Goes all the way back to then.

Airpods I can see, as you're not likely to resell but anybody daft enough to personalize any Apple device deserves the consequences of final sale and reduced resale value.

Nice engraved (m)emoji option for case & in iOS from Apple at full price or buy later at a discount from resellers. The wow factor will wear out.
Saving some money is nicer.

Weirdly my engraving is showing on the 'connecting' screen (at the bottom of your image), but it doesn't show up in the image at the top of the settings screen (top of your image).

Anybody else have something similar?
Apple’s attention to detail is kinda ADHD.

So that's what the iOS team was working on instead of fixing bugs before iOS 16 release.
Don’t worry, still bugs.

Hey there’s a little Apple magic!

Cannot remember where I heard/read it, but it’s nice to see Apple having fun again. (Maybe the MR podcast?)
