AirPods are thicker and longer than the EarPods. And they look even more awkward without the cables due to its super long and thick stem.

It’s not really subjective, they really are dorky looking, especially when they hang outwards or straight down.

Not sure why you think AirPods Pro “stick out” when the AirPods’ stem sticks out even more. Also it’s just a black stripe… it doesn’t look awkward at all, a long stem that swoops down from the ears looks awkward. AirPods also stick out to the side, which is ridiculously awkward.

seriously? your opinion on whether something is or isn't "dorky" is subjective. as is mine.

ps mine don't stick out like that at all, i don't think it's the airpods that are to blame)

Still not convinced with these disposable headphones.

That's where I am. I have the originals and they're my favorite headphones by far. (I always loved the fit of the original EarPods.) However... at around $160 when I got them, they're the most expensive headphones I have ever purchased and two years later the battery life is like 1/3 of when I first got them. Still good for a walk or a jog, which is fine, but...

I don't know if the pros outweigh the cons given the price.

Also, this product and its disposability really put Apple's lip service about the environment in full view.

Battery tech is in an interesting place right now. On one hand it's holding back a lot of tech, on the other it's forcing a focus on efficiency. It's certainly interesting to watch evolve.

the airpods looked almost exactly like the regular apple headphone minus the wire.

the pros look stumpy and stick out. with a black stripe on them. i think they look awful. of course this is purely subjective.

Ok, but did Consumer Reports do what Joanna Stern did, and ride the bucking bull with 4 different pairs of competitive airbuds? Did they go out into the park and have a dancer spin someone wearing airpods laterally around on his head and have them NOT FALL OUT? Did they have someone go out and make a phone call while riding their bicycle on Market Street in downtown San Francisco via the airpods? I bet they didn't do any of that! It's because CR dates from a time when in order to find out anything you had to get a magazine. Now you can just talk to your friends across the world

for those who enjoy this product (airpod) ... do you care about the battery problems users report after 12-18 months of use? Or are they so convenient that it is okay to be disposable?

edit: not trying to troll or anything just curious

i see...

it's funny i had to go to the airport this one time and my airpods were low, so i grabbed the wired ones with the same shape. and i realized how much more they fell out! for two reasons - the weight and the wires!
These feel weightless to me. The sone wf-1000xm3 (I hate that name) feels heavy, but that’s prob because they rest on my ear because they cannot weigh much more?!

as the reg airpods. but(i think) they still weight more than the wired ones. and i think it was mostly the wire pushing them out of the ear whenever i would push/pull on the wire.

After Jobs passed, Apple managed to introduce not one, but two massive hits that any other company would die to have.

Maybe it's time to eat crow for some Tim Cook haters around here.
Tim is doing a great job running Apple. He just needs to stop with the political/social crap. Run Apple do your job. Want to be a politician? Retire and do that

AirPods can be recycled at any Apple Store. If you throw them in a landfill that’s on you.
Yep use them for 1-2 years and give them back to Apple. I’m a very light user and my gen 1 AirPods are already starting to show battery issues

Holy-Moly. They must be raking-in money faster than the Fed can print it.

In-ear headphones are not my thing, though. But I envy everybody who is ok with them.

Though, of course the projected lifespan is a bit short, considering the price. I really hope they find a way to make the batterie survive longer or make it exchangeable - but I have little hope the later will happen any time soon, if at all.

My 1st gen AirPods lasted just over a year before degrading so bad that they only provide about 20 min of use. I've since gone the Powerbeats Pro route with the hope for a longer lasting product. With that said, I'm very interested to see the lifespan of the AirPods Pro because I do prefer the feel and light weight of the AirPods over the Powerbeats Pro.

If people are happy to pay $250 for earphones, no one should be complaining about a $1000 cellphone or $2500 laptop. I guess Tim knew what he was doing all along...

neither trolling here, but these are tiny objects. If one, or both, gets a battery life that is unacceptable to you, what is the problem with replacing them? I agree that in an ideal world these would be 100% recyclable. But your iPhone generates more waste in 4 years. Your MacBook Pro might last 5 years of heavy daily (ab)use and then generates a magnitude more waste.
if you look beyond that and count your yearly total waste... 7+ pounds per person per day for Americans...
So in the big picture I would say you start with the huge low hanging fruits. And then complain about tiny earbuds?
again im seriously wondering, as I don’t see the reason behind your arguments. And there are many more people that have made it.

His post history tells the story

"And while the AirPods Pro sound far better than Apple’s earlier models, they still don’t meet the audio quality of our top pick for true wireless sound, the Samsung Galaxy Buds, which also sell for around $130."

Boom. Game over. Sorry, Apple, maybe next time (probably not). Function over status, people. Also note the hefty Apple tax you are paying. Which is fine, but don't you dare say AirPods are better than Samsung Galaxy Buds. Consumer Reports is a very reputable magazine.

AirPod out of warranty battery service is $59.

If you buy AppleCare for $29, battery service is free for 3 years.

Still on the first gen airpods. Not a fan of in ear headphones because of the pain that i get.Never gonna buy them but thats not the case for many others that the original airpods didnt fit.So hope to see both options offered from apple from now on...

Returned mine today. No matter what I did - they kept falling off. Did not have this issue with previous generation.

People who now have Airpods are raving about them. That's all it takes.
Not sure on your point, is this just another edgy Apple product user girlie slap?
[automerge]1574892556[/automerge]
It can be played from the flip side as well.

When Consumer Reports raves about an Apple product, plenty of Apple fanatics rave about how great that mouthpiece of an opinion is.
Have any examples of your opinion? I see CR pretty consistently panned.

Bought AirPod Pros to try out and love them. No more ear pain from the buds or from the hooks on the Beats. Great sound and impressive ANC plus they are tiny vs the Beats. You also just can’t beat the fact you can easily switch between Apple devices.
