Daring Fireball's John Gruber posted his first impressions of the new AirPods Pro this evening. Gruber was able to use the new AirPods Pro for several hours on a return trip from Apple's media briefing back home. Overall, he liked the new AirPods and found the noise cancellation to work well, and the battery life to match Apple's claims.
Apple invited a few dozen media folks to New York today for a briefing and early access to the new AirPods Pro. My initial impression: I like them.

Gruber also notes that the earpiece tips that come in three sizes are available from Apple for $4 if you happen to lose them.
Swapping the tips is easy, but it takes a bit more pull than I expected to pop them off. Don't be afraid -- the tips seem rugged. And replacement tips from Apple will cost only $4 -- truly cheap.
The AirPods Pro are starting to arrive at customers homes today. The AirPods Pro cost $249 offers noise cancelation, an in-ear design, and water and sweat resistance.

Will these tips be different to the other tips you get with tons of other ear phones? I always have plenty of such surplus tips around.

It should honestly be free, we are entitled to that. After all, we are locked in their Apple ecosystem. Therefore, what I say is valid.

Yey. A new set of headphones Apple is selling. - said No one...sorry, I have to hold back vitriol and it is so difficult when you care about a company as beautiful and smart as Apple... What else is R&D hiding, besides headphones? (I know I only speak for me in this case, but I have too many Apple bought headphones now...)

My hesitation with the pro is eventually with my experience with the first and second AirPods, the battery starts to degrade in 1 1/2 years into its use. I can stomach $140 but $249 every 2 years is hard to swollow. I know my AirPods will degrade in a year.

Buy AppleCare+ for AirPods.

Replace for a fraction of the cost when they “break”.

Keep your stomach.

It used to be the cheapest thing in the Apple Store was $9.99 - the Magsafe 2 adapter. But we now have a new title holder!
The Lightning to 3.5mm headphone adapter is $9, but $4 is definitely a new record :)

There will be at least one person in the world that will complain $4 is too expensive.
Probably at least 100 in the world, but unfortunately 99 seem to post here at MR. No big deal, everyone’s gotta eat.

Apple could actually give you your first ten pairs for free, and there’d be posters here bitching about having to pay for their eleventh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
