I think what he means is Apple's recent way of increasing prices with better technology that should come naturally. In the past for example with the original iPad going all the way to the iPad Air 2, the base prices of the iPads were always $500, $600, and $700 depending on low, mid, or high storage but with natural technological advances (thinner, lighter, front cameras, Retina Displays, Xbox level graphics, etc.). Same concept with cars, we have better cars than we did 20 years ago but a Toyota Camry is still going for around the $25,000 price, a Toyota Camry does not cost $75,000 today.

Lately Apple seems to increase the price with the premise that it is increasing technology, and people such as yourselves (especially with your condescending response) have kind of been "fooled" in a way by blindly accepting the price increases as "normal".
Well you just have to look at the iPhone to see that there are plently of exceptions. When something sells that good as the airpods (the press release calls them the most popular headphones on the market), they can for sure increase the price and their margin. Actually, the airpods are exceptionally cheap compared to what the competition is charging you for a similar product. Im not justifying Apple but it does not suprise me either. If you are Apple user for some time, you have to be used to this fenomena. For example, this new 16 inch macbook pro, I dont even consider the possibility of having it priced below 2,999$ so they really cant disspoint me in this regard. If you want top of the line product from Apple you have to had deep pockets, it has always been that way and always will be, this is in Apple DNA more than anything else.

Wow, I've heard the Bose are super comfortable, I might have to look into it because I've not been able to go 4 hours without feeling ear fatigue.

Yeah, I did my first flight that long with their over the ear, and about 12 hours had to wipe off my ears from the sweat. Now I use the QC35 noise cancelling earbuds - very comfortable, and the battery lasts ~10-12 hours. What's really cool is you can plug in the USB charger and recharge while listening to them.

To be fair to Apple, 4-5 hours in that form factor is pretty amazing...I just need more battery life for my use case - one for which no earbud works (the neck bands would drive me nuts).

Cuts environmental and atmospheric noise better than earplugs. If you have wind/pressure sensitive vertigo, a good pair of noise cancelling devices is critical. They're also nice in that mode for shopping in those loud, echoey superstores that always play the soundtrack from Hell. I can't even tell that they are playing "The little drummer boy" for the 10,000th time.

I wonder whether they'll last a NYC to LA flight in normal + noise cancelling mode?

The great thing about the typical over the ears ANC headsets is that most offer up to 24 hours of use per charge. When I was flying international on a regular basis, this made it easy to do, even for flights to China or the Middle East. I'm mostly flying domestic now, so if I can get 4-5 hours per charge for listening to music or watching videos, I'll be happy. Then I can quick charge in the case while getting off the plane and jump right onto calls once out of the airport.

When do reviews drop? I’m not dropping $$ on these until I know what sound quality is like.

Space Grey keyboard/mouse, Rose Mac Air, Yellow phones, green phones, red phones, etc.

Apple does do color variations. headphones are just in the market a few years. It's not like it will only be white forever.

One of the problems with doing headphone colors is that the iPhone 11 and Pro have different color schemes, materials, and finishes. Thats a lot of options to try to match.

Maybe if you wait until takeoff, flying west to east with a tailwind, and turn off right at landing. East to west, definitely not.

Not being snarky there, just know how long those flights are.

We aren't talking about 20 years of product improvement. We're talking about a product that has been out 3 years and already received upgrades to its internal technology. This is a new product with major new features. They didn't just update the product and bump the price. This is an entirely new addition to the product line. You can't expect a company to just toss in active noise cancellation for no extra cost. That is the definition of entitlement. It's like expecting them to release a larger-screen version of the iPad at no extra cost.

Okay I guess you have a point there. But I am a little peeved at the jumps that the iPad Pro made. The Air 2 to the 9.7 iPad Pro jumped $100 to a base price of $600 (I guess $50 for the drawable screen and $50 for the bump from 16GB base to 32GB base). Then they poached us more from the 9.7 to the 10.5 by increasing the base storage to 64GB and increasing the price by $50 to a base price of $650.

Then they skinned us alive from the 10.5 Pro to the 11 Pro by increasing the price by $150 to a base price of $800. This last jump was more arbitrary because it seemed like a "throwaway increase" without any justification except Face ID.

If it has an apple logo, the reviews will be glowing with amazement. Look at the current airpods they are terrible in fitment department and the sounds are just awful.

I think I'm going to wait and see what people think about them. That's what I did with the original Airpods.

usually by gen 3 Apple has most hardware problems sorted. Key things I was looking for in AP was in-ear, ANC, ambient noise pass through and sweat and water resistant. The rest is just icing, a good BT pair of ANC earbuds with Qi included is not cheap and these seem fairy priced, can it be cheaper sure but I prefer to jump on it now rather than wait for 6-8 weeks to get them.

Amazing technology in such a tiny package. Unfortunately, £250 is a bit too salty for me. The direct translation from USD to GBP continues to irk.

I'll pass for now and hope that space grey or black is forthcoming at a later time...

I concur on the fit, audio quality with BT is questionable however I am willing to take a gamble on the APP as I like in-ear, the previous gen AP did not like my disabled ear and canal size:p

Yeah, with the current exchange rate plus VAT it should be about 235...assuming no tariffs.

Got to love the VAT. On par with exchange in Canada.

Am I the only one that see this when I look at the new ‘pods?
