$250?!

Apple is drunk.

Solid lower end audiophile grade headphones or $250 fisher price baby earbuds.

Mine went to "Preparing for Shipment"

$249? I think I'll stick to my first gen Airpods that work just fine. The Pro's look nice and interest me but the price is more than I'm willing to pay at this point.
Statistically speaking, you’ll pay eventually or have a change of heart once the reviews come in

I ordered mine with the free engraving and that added to the shipping date. If I went with no engraving the delivery date was 10/31 but with engraving it's 11/5-7. I also purchased Apple Care as I have accidentally washed my Airpods and killed the case.

Never understood the need for noise cancellation when you are out and about. I always think someone could just come up behind and attack you without you even hearing them or you may not hear traffic.

Maybe I’m overly safety conscious but I like to hear everything around me when I’m walking down the street.

The only time I ever wear any type of earphones or headphone is when I’m on a train sitting down or at home.
I know what you mean, but then I moved to a country where that's not an issue. I have never once, in fifteen years, felt unsafe or nervous on any street, in any dark alley, in any state of sobriety, here in Tokyo. That said, I'm more visually aware of my surroundings when I'm wearing headphones, but that's true whether they have ANC or not.

Anyway, I'm sick to death of hearing other people's conversations. Between that, and the noise of the trains in Tokyo, ANC is an absolute MUST for me.

I cants stand that wrap-around-the-ear design, though. Interferes with too many of my sunglasses. While I did order the new AirPods (primarily for the ANC) I've been loved the original AirPods for their convenience, the v2 for "hey Siri," and my Sony WF-1000XM3 for their bass and ANC. Hopefully these new AirPods will do it all.
Sounds like you know what you want/need, which is great! Im mostly pointing out the fact that a majority of the people commenting about purchasing these are simply doing so because its a new toy to make them feel cool, which is just plain sad. I have a pair of Studio 2's with noice cancelling that I use when cutting the lawn or on flights. Other than that, the PBP's fit snugly enough in my ear to block out all of the outside noise when I am wearing them.

So, 49$ more for NC and better sound, better isolation and size. I guess I'll bite. I would have prefered $199 without wireless charging case, but what the heck. The sony's were crap, IMHO

Assuming that the sound is VERY good and the NC is as well, this is really only about an 8% apple tax for, well apple and WHITE

And?

The prior Airpods are $199, so $50 difference. And they DID add tech. Different sealed design, active noise cancellation, official IP rating (water resistant) etc.

Just because YOU dont like them doesnt mean they arent worth the $50 extra to many.
And didn’t they improve the quality of the audio as well from what I remember reading? the 50$ higher price is justified. Considering everyone should by now know the premium prices of Apple products it continues to be amusing to me the complaints. To truly understand the higher prices one should leave Apple and live with android products.

so - if batteries die in a year - that's $11 a month to use headphones?

Edit.... that's $21!!!
well done good maths, and further 21/31 = .60$ a day, for 4 hours wireless free, noise cancelling headpones ? is that still a lot ? than why not spending some time on eBay buying some jaybird or samsung BUDS JEEZUS KRIST when you will stop complaining all about the price ???????

"Pro" AirPods? Good lord guys. I'm not normally one to gripe about the whole what is or is not a Pro, but...

With the iPhone "Pro" and now AirPods "Pro" it's just bordering on silly. On one hand you have pro stuff that's legitimately pro—like a real Mac Pro. But these? And while the iMac Pro is certainly in the realm of legit pro stuff, putting together the "i" line with the "Pro" line is starting to stink of Microsoft-style labeling.

Still have my original AirPods. I like them a lot but like most people, I've watched the battery life fall off a cliff since I picked them up a couple years back. Until they can crack that walnut, I won't be repeating.

I was signed in with the correct AppleID when making the purchase. When I click on the order number or order status, it tells me "Your order does not match the Apple ID that is currently signed in. Please view your order details on Apple.com." My email that tells me my order is being processed shows the correct Apple ID as well.

These are not marketed at audio professionals so “Pro” makes no sense.

They aren’t even pro features, they’re convenient for commuters and everyday activities like the noisy train home or the gym.

So now Apple are splitting commuters into regular and pro categories lol I’m Professional because I’m wearing these AirPod Pros and catch the fast train home...

PRO is simply an Apple marketing term to refer to a product that has added features and abilities to another similar product they sell. Airpods + Extra Features (while still selling the AirPods at lower prices) = AirPods PRO. Now that iPhone, iPad, AirPod do this it is starting to be a cohesive strategy that consumers will be able to understand... you can buy the "good" one, or buy the "all the bells and whistles one" (Pro) for all their favorite products.

Hey! Newbie here. So those ESR cases that leaked earlier...do they match up with right specifications?? I was thinking about getting a silicon cover.

Just spend $159 on a pair of AirPods they said. I've now spent $199 on a pair with a wireless charging case, and then there's the AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro Max for $350 when?

Which Sony's were 'crap'? The in-ear model? I tried them at IFA; but I own the over ear (XM3) and its been fine (and AirPods for daily use such as the gym). I wonder if these will start a trend to abandon the enormous 'cans' (over-ear) that work well but are inconvenient and not so comfy on a 10 hour flight...

I did not see this coming. But I will be buying a pair.

I will see if any discounts are offered up to Black Friday. If not, I will buy at full price.

I was a late adopter, but AirPods are a must have item for me now. I started out just using one for phone calls. It worked so well that I decided to try it with music and now I'm hooked. I also use them with the Apple TV.

So rather than demand Apple makes their disposable £149 ear buds fit properly, people are willing to throw £249 at them instead?

Tim certainly knows how the prick the one brain cell all Apple users are plugged into.

Funny thing about the fit of the originals—and same as the original EarPods—seems like they either fit great or terrible. To me, both have always been my favorite. I can do high speed sprinting wearing the originals and they stay in fine. Obviously though, everyone does not have the same ear!

Haha. But don't worry, Apple cares about the environment.
