Statistically, AppleCare isn’t worth it (or else Apple wouldn’t sell it), but it might pay for itself if you keep it the whole 2 years. The battery wears out with heavy use.

No, it doesn't. What it means is the buyer has to pay professional-level amounts of money for the product.
The price.
How it compares to PowerBeats Pro is the big question. I hate the PBP's massive charging case, not to mention frequent connection issues. But I find the standard AirPods to be uncomfortable and have mediocre sound. If the AirPods Pro address those two issues, then I'm selling my PBP.
Ordered and coming Thursday...we shall see!
If the black color exists, hopefully the prices are not like those of the black mouse and keyboard.
They're PRO because its a PROper shame they dont support a better quality bluetooth format like LDAC or AptX 
$249? I think I'll stick to my first gen Airpods that work just fine. The Pro's look nice and interest me but the price is more than I'm willing to pay at this point.

The prior Airpods are $199, so $50 difference. And they DID add tech. Different sealed design, active noise cancellation, official IP rating (water resistant) etc.
Just because YOU dont like them doesnt mean they arent worth the $50 extra to many.
It looks like it will be in stores on Wednesday, so perhaps see if you can get one then.
Hopefully Comply will come out with some foam tips that will still fit in the case. Earphones always sound better, to me anyway, with foam tips.
As always, Apple uses the “Pro” designation to indicate the model with the highest specs and the most features.

Battery life isn’t good enough.
I got my PowerBeats 3 for $99. They work great and sound great. I can wear them for over 12 hours before charging. I’ll stick with those for a while.
I’ll eventually get the PowerBeats Pro when they’re at a fire sale price.
