No noise isolation, no volume controls, fall out during exercise. Plenty of better options for less.
I thought the same way until I bought a pair. I have the beats X but I use my AirPods all the time. I find the thumping noise very irritating while walking with noise isolated sets - every step is thump thump. Phone calls are better on AirPods because it is difficult to talk on isolated buds. I still use my beats x for listening in bed at night. I also own the solo 3 which I use around house.

Volume control is surprisingly not and issue for me. Before I got I the AirPods I thought it would be a deal breaker but is not. I always have my phone in my pocket or nearby and it is easy to adjust volume.

I have the Jaybird X3 and there is no thumping cable sound. Talking on the phone with isolating IEM's is difficult though, you can't judge how loud you are talking. I guess if I needed a non-isolating wireless pair it may be more appealing but then I would get the Bose Soundsports.

People that haven't used AirPods shouldn't comment on this thread. There is only "before trying them" and "after trying them". Those opinions are likely to be quite different. :p

I just got them at the verizon store. I like them, they fit almost as well as the earpods, they are a bit bigger. The sound quality is no different than the earpods which I think are fine. The volume does seem a bit low

I have beats solo 3’s and these. I haven’t used my solo 3’s since getting my AirPods. I love the AirPods and the charging case is too cool. Just throw the charging case in your pocket when not using them and pull them out ready to go.

Interesting, I've been using my X for SKype calls on my ipad for work (trying to cut down on the cr*p I carry from office to office) and people have been complaining the speech is quiet. I genuinely still don't know if it's me over-compensating for the isolation or they are quiet. I'm the first with beats X headphones but they are still close enough to other headphones to not look different. I'm really conscious of buying the AirPods until I see someone else at work with them. Yes I'm a wuss...
