I still don't get people's fascination with these. Bad seal in the ears, no noise-cancelling, easy to loose, sound while better than many, not as good as the Bose SoundSport or the Bose QC30, most controls are over Siri... No offence, but just for the cool factor and the fact that they're Apple, I don't think they're worth purchasing at all.
Plenty of owners have weighed in here (after using them for months), addressing your question. I was initially skeptical, but after using them a week there was no way I'd be sending them back.

Ditto with the Apple Watch, which I assumed I'd be sending back after actually living with it for a week. And here it is almost two years later, the Watch being on my wrist for a dozen hours every day.

I'm tempted, very tempted.
But I'll wait, £150 crazy price, £69 maybe.
Looks like I maybe waiting a long time!

You will be waiting infinity. Apple will update and upgrade befor ehtye drop the price. You will never see 69 airpods new, maybe used.

Any chance they'll announce AirPods 2 at the September iPhone event? I really want a pair of these, but I've gotten bitten buying stuff right before an Apple event before.
We think the chances are basically zero, but who knows? You may as well wait a couple of weeks now. If there’s no announcement you can go and buy some.

I like earbuds (not in ear ones), but Airpods are too steep for me. I've only come across a couple very cheap bluetooth earbuds on Amazon. If anyones got recommendations, let me know. I don't mind if they are connected by a wire either.
I just got a pair of AirPods and I have to say, they are worth every penny. However, if that is too steep for you I have been using SoundPeats for a year or so and loved them. You can buy them on Amazon. They run 20-30 depending on if they are on sale. The quality is above average and if you register them on their website, they will extended the warranty for an additional 12 months.

Don't these easily fall out of your ears? I know with every generation of the iphone, my earphones always seem to fall out. I'm assuming these would too since the design and shape is very similar to all the previous apple earphones.
Oddly enough, they don't. I use them when I run 5-6 miles a few times a week and they haven't fallen out yet. The first week I kept pushing them back in because I too was afraid they were going to fall out. Then I finally just left them alone to see what would happen and they never did. I think it has to do with not having the weight of the cords because I hated the wired ones because they would fall out occasionally.

i dont this is a product that will be updated after just 1 year...its that kind of accesory that is from 2 to 2 years, or even like like magic mouse 1 ->2
I agree that the AirPods won't be updated in September, but I think you're mistaken in comparing them to a simple accessory like the Magic Mouse. AirPods will play a key role in Apple's mobile strategy, and will ultimately evolve into a device as seen in the movie Her.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure Apple won't update them, either, but I appreciate someone else saying it. Thanks. :) The event is close enough now that I don't mind waiting. I'll be ordering them from B&H anyway, so I'm not really worried about availability/shipping delays.

I do think it might be possible to see a black variant released with the iPhone 8. Unlikely, but it would be a welcome surprise.

Anybody use them for making phone calls? How is the quality?

Use them all day for phone calls only. Especially the "unlimited" charge by changing from left to right and vice versa, the speech quality and the wearing comfort made them irreplaceable for me. For music there are much better headphones.....

I have had mine one week so far. Walked straight into the local Apple Store and picked up a pair no problems.

The good...

Great fit, you don't even know these are in after a while. Very light and THEY WILL NOT FALL OUT!
Easy to use across all my devices but easiest to use with my iPhone. I have found I am using the music app on my Apple Watch more than I did before. Far easier to set up, wear and get working than the normal wireless headphones.
Fabulous to be 100% wire free.
They are very clever little things, auto pause and they switch themselves off out of the ear.
The distance the Bluetooth can reach and not get stuttering in the music is incredible. They really are wireless!

The bad...

The sound quality although good and seemingly better than normal head pods is not as amazing as I thought they would be for the price paid.
Because there is no noise cancelling or the fact they do not go 'in the ear' background noise is annoying.
One double tap function is REALLY limiting. I am used to play, volume up, volume down, skip, rewind and Siri. Losing full functionality spoils the device. Especially when I am cycling and cannot scramble around blindly trying to use the watch or iPhone.

So.... in an office or home environment these are AMAZING.

In an environment where you cannot easily use your phone or watch... they are limited severely because of noise issues and no buttons.

So what did I wear before? Standard Apple head pods (brilliant until they broke) then a pair of £30 on Amazon M-Pow sports headphones. (You can laugh but they have in ear fit, amazing battery life, good sound AND full physical buttons making it a close run against the true wireless AirPods - and they cost a fifth of the price).

I think I would be a lot happier and give these 9/10 if the Air Pods could understand a double and triple tap on each ear. That would at least give me Siri, Play/Pause, Skip track and Rewind. Volume I can live with!

I hope mine ship soon. I ordered them 1.5 weeks ago; it's still showing an estimate of another 3-4 weeks before they are delivered.

Or, maybe Apple is releasing updated AirPods and I'll end up with those. I wouldn't complain.
Why did you order through apple. I ordered 2 through Best Buy and I already received. I love them

Same issue I have - every single one of Apple's earbuds/earpods won't stay in my ears for more than about 3 minutes before falling out. This is not a problem I have with other brands of wired in-ear headphones. I don't think it's the weight of the wire either - I push them into my ear and immediately can feel them losing their grip and slowly falling out. I really think the shape of my ear is not made for Apple's design.
