Spent around 3 hours in midtown Manhattan but did not spot any one with airpods. I wonder how many people have actually purchased these in a big city such as NYC. Was at a large camera store and the salesman spotted the one airpod in my ear. They were excited and wanted to see the case. They said the airpods were smaller than they appeared in the reviews.

I have drained the airpods about two times today just listening to music and podcasts since around 11am. That was 16 hours earlier and had a very busy day finishing off a project. The battery charger case definitely charges the airpods quickly.

Looking at people wearing headphones with wires looks odd. Good thing with the airpods is they allow you to hear ambient noise if you are not listening to music.

AirPods became available for purchase on Apple's website on December 13, and customers who ordered quickly began receiving their shipments as early as December 19. Orders quickly became backlogged, however, and Apple's shipping estimate slipped to four weeks in less than two hours, and to six weeks by the following day.

For customers that ordered within the past nine days, the six-week wait potentially meant waiting until late January or early February to get the all-new wireless earphones. Fortunately, as is often the case, Apple is now shipping many of those orders sooner than expected, with some deliveries now slated for late December.

AirPods delivered to MacRumors forum member iPhenom

"Just received my shipping notice for my AirPod order," said MacRumors reader York in an email. "The original delivery date was January 12, but it should arrive on December 28th." Likewise, another reader with an original December 29 delivery estimate has now seen his AirPods ship with an estimated delivery date of December 23.

In the AirPods order tracking topic in the MacRumors discussion forums, a handful of other customers with estimated delivery dates ranging from December 29 to January 12 claim their AirPods have now shipped for delivery as early as this week. For some of those customers, AirPods will arrive just in time for Christmas.

"Awesome, mine were scheduled for delivery on the 29th, but suddenly they are supposed to get here tomorrow, the 22nd," said one person. "Order scheduled for delivery on January 12th has shipped with a delivery date of December 28th," said another, noting his shipment was still in China.

With only three days remaining until Christmas, customers may now be pushing their luck to find AirPods in time for the holidays, but a lucky few have managed to find a pair at an Apple Store or place an order through resellers such as Best Buy and the United Kingdom's Carphone Warehouse over the past few days.

Other resellers such as Sprint and Verizon have unfortunately been less reliable, as some customers were able to purchase AirPods from these vendors only to later receive an email saying the order could not be fulfilled at this time. AT&T also has AirPods on sale, but it is unclear when orders will ship.

AirPods are Apple's all-new $159 wireless earphones. The cord-free earphones instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac when taken out of their charging case thanks to Apple's custom W1 chip. Likewise, audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out.

AirPods are controlled mainly by Siri. Doubling tapping an earpiece invokes Siri, and voice commands can be used to adjust the volume, change the song, make a call, and so forth. AirPods deliver up to 5 hours of listening time on one charge, and a 15-minute fast charge provides up to 3 hours of listening time.

Yes, they arrive earlier than expected. Scheduled for the 29th of Dec. and they arrived today (23rd of Dec.)...let´s check them out now..updates soon :)

Says something about Apple when the majority of Macrumors news is about stupid ear phones.

Earphones? No. You're obviously not reading the articles. Their Airpods. Big difference. And it's a new product release, of course MacRumors is going to cover reviews, shipping to various countries and anything Airpod Related.

What were you expecting for articles? There is more than one tech website to visit other than MacRumors if your unhappy.

My Dec 13 @ 11:10a Eastern order originally set for 12-Jan delivery went PFS last night.

This will be my 3rd pair as I got lucky to pick 2 pair up on Monday from my local Apple Store. Loving mine and the second is a holiday gift. The third coming I am not sure of its use yet. I wonder if it will have a good shelf life so I can just put it up in the closet to have as a spare set?

Is it just me who has that gut feeling that this wasn't one of Apples finest hours? A set of hearing aid-style "headphones" that have to be charged up to use and rely on a middleman program (Siri) to function fully. At a premium price and easy to lose and ...it just doesn't ring right as it were.

Or. They could be the snazziest, chic, easy to use, most ergonomic and fully functional accessory of the decade. Yeah. That's it. Enough pedantry. Pass me my credit card, Jeeves. Order me a dozen ...NOW!

Awwww no. Wot was I thinkin'? Talk abaht form over function an' that. These fings were meant to be EASIER to use than wired 'phones. They're ten times more 'assle. Chargin' cables. Mains power adaptors. Siri. Wot's that all abaht then, eh? Bleed in' daft. Tiny, fiddly blighters that you'll lose dahn the back of the sofa on first use and the cheeky sods are askin' £65 a pop if you lose one of 'em! Talk about brass necks eh, Guv? And they're expecting me to fork out £160 for the 'convenience'? Just wait'til my missus finds out what I've blown me readies on. She's gonna kill me!

Sell on Craigslist now for a gain, then put the money on the shelf and buy a new set later if you need it. Cash has a better shelf life than technology.

"Bluetooth® earpieces have an SAR value of around 0.001 watts/kg (less than one thousandth the SAR limit for cell phones as set by the FDA and FCC)."

http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phones

Normal Bluetooth earpieces have a range of 33 ft / 10m. These have a range of 200ft / 65m (https://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/artikel/AirPods-im-Test-Kabelloses-Hoervergnuegen-3573514.html) . SAR value is reported to be 0.466 (http://www.saferemr.com/2016/09/airpods-are-apples-new-wireless-earbuds.html) , which is double that of a Google Pixel XL, with the difference that you'll be having these in your ears for hours per day and that you have one of them in each ear, while you hold your phone only to one ear at a time. These are definitely not safer than mobile phones (should there be any danger by EM emissions, that is).

Normal bluetooth headsets are BT class 2 or 3, transmitting at 10 respectively 1 mw. The AirPods, on the other hand, reportedly use BT class 1, which transmits at 100mw. 100mw is the same as your WiFi hotspot or only slightly less than LTE (125 mw). So it's like holding a WiFi hotspot to both ears for hours per day. Good luck.

IMHO Apple doesn't really care about RF exposure - the iPhone 7 is so bad in this respect, that they themselves recommend that users don't touch their heads with it while placing phone calls.

Ordered from Apple on December 21st and my orders still says arriving February 7th *sigh*

Every human being is going to be wanting the AirPods I think.

They are really awesome.

Just wait and see. Apple is going to make Billions of dollars from this product. It's going to bump up the stock when it is taken into account. Just wait an see.

There is a LOT of resistance as can be seen on these threads - but I have them now and I can tell you they are awesome. No worries about them falling out of the ears. Probably the only thing that could cause a problem is losing the case, but they are so convenient to put in and take out and put away - no more tangles no more cord pulling. It's great!

Apple probably could sell 50 million sets in the next year or so. Run those numbers!

I ordered from ATT 12/22 and the chat rep told me they'd arrive by 12/24 if I paid $15 for expedited shipping. Today I received a tracking number for 12/27 delivery. 38 minutes of phone conversations later, I have been "escalated" to someone who apparently is so important they have to call me back on their schedule.

I have the chat log of the ATT rep telling me #1 they are in stock and #2 I can definitely have them by Christmas. I cancelled my other orders and skipped going to the mall today thinking this was a sure thing. What a bummer.

I found a pair on eBay without a huge markup. They were supposed to arrive today, but usps put them on the wrong plane apparently and they are working on fixing that. It is in Illinois right now. Not where it was supposed to be. I will never do eBay again.

I've tried to go to "order details" and "cancel order" it sends me to the sign in page then sends me to a webpage stating

"
olss-sorry

The signed in account does not have access to this order."

Hopefully getting ready to ship.

Where do they recommend this?

Airpods, first run. 5km run this morning w Apple Watch (no phone) stayed in place no problem, volume was fine at almost max given the street noise. Changing songs and volume the only real issue given the need to use the watch as no Siri and as we know she is useless anyway (see below). Watched the video of the guy dropping them in the washing machine and dryer and they still worked gave me no worries about sweat.

Then a quick gym workout and again no issue and used phone for music. Siri was useless as the ambient noise in the gym had me locating the nearest Starbucks in stead of skipping songs. She responded about 40% of the time and the lag is unacceptable.

I do love these, not the look, still just looks strange. The biggest operation issue is Siri and in turn lack of controls. I hope Apple updates these with the ability to tap to skip, pause, go back that's the one missing feature. Siri is just not the answer.

Ordered a couple of hours after announcement and got the 12 Jan date. Now showing 17 Jan!!!! But have moved to the Preparing for Shipment status. What does it all mean????

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, is it? "They aren't changing their shipping around". EXCEPT THEY ARE! They're shipping outside their OWN time window with no options for the customer to adjust. That's pretty critical considering it's the holiday season and it's a huge travel time period.
[doublepost=1482436998][/doublepost]

I get that, but give us an option. As it stands now, my options are either cancel my vacation to receive the AirPods (not really an option), or re-order knowing they'll be delivered and turned away while I'm out of town. What's even worse, is that I reached out to have them re-route the delivery due to THEIR adjusted schedule and they say they can't do it.
You're hilarious. You quoted half my sentence. They aren't changing shipping dates around....just to make it convenient for your travel schedule. Maybe you're the one who needs work on their reading comprehension.

Probably should avoid Amazon as well, they also have a preference of the Postal Service for shipping. In fact, before you buy you might wanna check to see how the item will be shipped. Not doing eBay because the USPS is a clusterf*^% is misdirected disappointment.

I hate when companies under promise on shipping and then over deliver by shipping early. I also hate when companies don't bend to the will of their customers.

Shareef777 - Honestly, after 1 attempted delivery get online wherever you are and choose the "reschedule delivery" option and pick a date. The modern world is full of convenience, and it has spoiled us to the core. Don't procrastinate, if they are on their final delivery attempt it won't work.
