I said no, no thanks, no I don't think so then here I am thinking, I might like to have a set of these to replace my current headphones. Go figure.
Go check them out in person. I was impressed.

I think he used a poor choice of words but I share the same sentiment that I wish wireless headphones were cheaper in general. $219 in Canada means the value/$ isn't quite as great as the $159 in the US.It is a sensible price in the headphone economic landscape. You meant to say sell them for a price 'you' can afford
You do realize that iOS has an Equalizer setting, right? Being digital, I ASSUME it works on any "audio" that an iOS App produces, but considering the EQ is under the "Music" Settings, maybe it is just for that App...Voice speaking frequencies are the worse for me, so I have to turn up the volume for these purposes. When I do, the bass is too much for my ears, and it is hard to fine a balance.
You're full of it, and you are obviously trolling. It's funny how Apple MAKES you buy them by removing the connection on the iPhone. I'm happy with my Parrot Zik 2.0 and Bragi.
Or they simply didn't make very many to begin with. Impossible to know without knowing exact numbers.
If they have to increase production to keep up with demand then I'd say they're either already selling them at a sensible price, or they're priced too low.
Lol saved me writing ....
Huh? What the truck's going on with this high demand nonsense? Obviously can't be true.
From previous posts I thought AirPods weren't selling well, are overpriced, something nobody wanted, don't work well, of poor quality, sound bad, and on and on. And Tim Cook must be fired.
And the current scarcity of stock is actually Apple deviously withholding inventory to inspire demand, because, you know, AirPods couldn't be possibly doing well. All furthered by Apple putting them in "Other" and will not reveal numbers, because, again,... they're not selling well. And Tim Cook must be fired.
Jeeeez, what a hoot watching all this. People getting the shakes and frothed up on whether an accessory, wireless earphones no less, are selling well or not. While it's very clear AirPods are a great success. And Tim Cook must be fired.
You must have a different definition of "free" from most people.
This sounds like me. I am partially deaf in both ears and have tinnitus from my military days.

I do not own the AirPods, but I was considering them at one point. I really like the EarPods, because they fit my ears really well, and mostly because they sound really good. I can understand phone calls, and music sounds almost perfect with my disability.
Many other headphone/headsets I have tried have too much bass to me. It is sometimes painful on my once perforated eardrums.
So, like you said, audio quality is very subjective. I have not had a chance to try the AirPods audio quality, but if it is anything like EarPods, I would probably like it.
Probably the "fault" of having multiple products in the pipeline simultaneosly. Next gen. will get that sorted-out.I think they were a good product for Apple. Someone needed to simplify the pairing process, and I'm glad they were successful. It shows that Apple's engineers are still top notch, even though they have a buffoon of a CEO.
The only thing I wish is that they shipped with a USC-C connector instead of just USB. Since Apple decided to remove all USBs from there laptops, just makes sense there products start being aligned. That would have been real courage.
It is a sensible price in the headphone economic landscape. You meant to say sell them for a price 'you' can afford
I think at this point, Apple is done giving sales figures for all their products. The expectations were probably hurting their company. For ex: they sale 3 million v1 Airpods, then v2 comes out and they only sale 2.9 million. Que the doom day music and people saying Apple is done. Plus, it keep competitors on their toes.
How about "At no additional cost".You must have a different definition of "free" from most people.
AirPods use AAC encoding, unlike the standard audio-as-an-afterthought CODECs found in most standard BT headphones/earbuds/headsets.Iv'e tried many Anker Wirless earbuds and they all sounded hideous when compared to the worst wired headphones. I have trouble (based on reviews) the Ankers sound anywhere near like the AirPods.
Coulda fooled me...Not at all. Taking your use case and believing it to be applicable across the population is not what MR is about.
Tech geeks will rush out to buy them....it's a limited market.
I listened to them today. A colleague at work has a pair and he's one to run out to get the first of everything. He's got both Apple Watches, iPhone 7 Plus and the latest MBP with a touch bar. He's very happy with all this stuff which is what is important. However, having now tried it, it's my personal opinion that SJ would have thrown these in the trash.
As far as sound quality is concerned, they're garbage. They sound marginally better than the original ones you get in the box. A little deeper and they've somehow managed to get some more bass out of them. That's no bad thing, but ultimately they're a cheap pair of $20 drivers in an expensive $140 technology jacket.
And this is what makes them stand out. The technology that connects them to your phone. It's seriously impressive and job well done to Apple. He still needs to be fired and replaced but kudos to Cook and the development team to come up with this. I loved the instant connectivity. I loved the status on screen and the deep integration with the iPhone. Awesome stuff.
However if the Airpods float your boat in terms of quality, that's fine by me but I would much rather wait and see what will develop in the coming year....
Just to add, they don't stay in my ears. Maybe I have strange ears, but the stock earbuds have never stayed in. I tried using them to go running but they would fall out all the time. I ended up buying a pair of SE215's which stay firmly in my ears. I now use a cheap pair of wireless Anker earbuds. They cost me $30 and sound the same as the Apple Airpods in terms of quality.
What interests me more is Apple licensing the technology to 3rd parties outside their business (not Beats). Brands like Shure, B&W, Klipsch and Sennheiser will really make use of this. Top quality audio with the decent connectivity behind it.
This is what we should be waiting for....and this is exactly why they're overpriced.
If your Sony TV is regular BT, then the AirPods SHOULD pair with it. That's one of the great things about the W1 chip: It is superior when used as an end-to-end solution, but is also compatible with standard Bluetooth.I just demoed the Airpods. After a quick rundown on them by the salesperson and 30 seconds of listening, I said sold. Unfortunately, the daily allotment was gone. As the regulars here know, I am not an Apple fanboy, but if I like something, I say so.
This is a cool product, so light and easy to use. The charging case is a neat piece of tech. The function of the pods is slick. Take one out of your ear, the music pauses. Put it back in, play resumes. If these would pair with my Sony TV, I would be very happy, they would be great for late TV watching and not disturbing anyone. They are so light they were almost unnoticeable. Apple hit a home run with these.
No doubt they're not for everyone, but if you're the least bit curious, go check them out. I hope they add black in the near future.
It took you 3.5 hours to drive from Columbus to Indy (assuming from your username)? Did you stop for lunch, or what? (just teasing)I happened to be passing through Columbus OH yesterday and checked stock beforehand. I was able to snag a pair online and picked it up. Drove about 3.5 hours afterward, making several phone calls with them on the way home. My conclusion is that the convenience is fantastic. The fit of Apple's pods have always been great for me. The call quality was very good and music quality was more than adequate for my less-than-stellar hearing.
Let's face it, these are small pods, not full size over the ear headphones that are truly wireless and portable for close to $150. I think for an apple product, they are very well priced for what they offer.![]()
Some say "strong demand." I say there's no headphone jack so what are ya gonna do?
I would've returned mine as well as I've done in the past when I didn't like the quality of wireless headphones.Yes, but I specifically said 100% wireless. If they have a wire it not truly comparable. I have Jaybird Freedom F5s and Airpods so I can compare between the two varieties - both BT, both great. Airpods w/o wire feel more "natural" though I realize they don't stay in all ears. Airpods sound great for BT buds and its price range. No shame at all or I know at least I would have returned them.
Don't make such idiotic statements regarding overpriced products
that should really help with those quality control issues
how about much better audio quality, much better battery life and sweat proof for the same price? I actually prefer the cable

I acknowledge your message but honestly its so tiresome it's really not worth a reply. Happy new yearNo, as in it makes no sense to pay X for product Y. Just like someone won't pay 30 dollars for a burger, regardless of it. They think It is not sensible to pay that much for a burger even if they can afford it.
The "cant afford it" argument has always been idiotic.
