I've used £50 Plantronic Backbeat Go 2's for years, never had audio sync issues with video or audio.

This makes no sense, you can buy BT headphones now, if you were that desperate to get some you would already. Are you saying just another more sillier pair of BT headphones are more exiting than say the first iPhone or ipad?

The guy is happy. Is there any point in antagonizing him? I am also excited to get mine soon. Could you find it your heart to be magnanimous enough to allow some of us to be happy?

well not sure if that is the point. with wires attached they look like a known accessory (wires, connector, in ear things) – as alone sticks it's an totally different issue. not cool in any way. wrong form (IMO)

Why though? Just because the wires were removed? In a way isn't it ridiculous to see wires hanging from everyone's ears? Or is it just because we know what they are and have been used to them for years? I think the same will happen with wireless pods as well.

I get it, at first I thought it was nuts how they looked - but it was probably because of my preconceived notion that all wireless buds would be of the type that fill your whole ear (like a Moto Hint or Bragi Dash). I've used a Hint for a long time, mostly for listening to podcasts and audiobooks, and that type of design starts to hurt after a while. Having the simple EarPod type of look actually feels nice sitting in the ear, it's not forced in and needs extra support like other Bluetooth buds that I use. I'm quite curious to see how these feel in person. I find EarPods quite comfortable but I can't stand the wire, been using bluetooth headphones of some sort for over a decade, and for the past 3-5 years exclusively Bluetooth.

These AirPods just take it up a notch, easy pairing, seamless transition from device to device, ability to use single pod or both. I personally can't wait.

It's sad that a lot of haters who have not tried the product have nothing better to do than to try to ruin the mood for those who are excited about the difference this will make for those who are sick of untangling headphone wires or have them fall off when they get caught on something.

Just the truth I'm afraid. I've given up posting real information here. Just CBA.

Same here. Really looking forward to getting mine, it's the wireless solution I've wanted for years.

Yeah I have been waiting for a pair I like enough for around 10 years myself. Apple pulling the jack did force the issue a bit but I couldn't justify them before that happened. Yes some people will say that makes Apple greedy. Bit for me it was just the little nudge I needed.

Hopefully this creates huge competition and we can look forward to more amazing BT products out soon.

I can post useful information. I'm not going to sit here and say I don't know a lot about Apple. I do. As I said, can't be bothered anymore.

And once a ton of people have AirPods that look will be a known accessory.

Just blows my mind that these are considered weird and uncool just because they don't have wires.

I think everybody who is buying the air pods are very excited to have them. I’am also as I like my earbuds but am sick and tired of wires and how it syncs perfectly with all my devices is a huge plus point for me and many others.

Every morning without fail I have to untangle these damn earbuds as I walk to work after parking up and it’s damn annoying. Now that issues goes away

The price is very high for my pockets and for my financial situation currently.
Nevertheless I have order 1 pair since I am literally very annoyed by the crazy tangle of the current earbuds but the most criminal part is how often I tend to tangle the cable into something and rip them out of my ear.

Besides - always in winter, my jackets are literally pulling them out of my ear as I am walking left and right.
Also, the idea of being able to swap from MBP to iMac to iPhone withouth having to plug and unplug - this is heavenly.

Some people like to point fingers at who wears these and yet boast about how they have 1000 dollar sound equipment? Good luck wearing you 1000 dollar wired equipment in public, cos you'll look way cooler lol /s
I guess these are the people who have gaping holes as ears and complain that the airpods don't stay on
The future IS wireless

I'm going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week. Every single time i have to untangle those damn cords. 20th of december my airpods are arriving and it really is the solution i have been waiting for years. They look silly, but i love the idea wireless + easy charging in the case. Little details like the magnetic case make it worth the price.

There is a lot of negativity surrounding the airpods and that's a shame. I think they are going to be great.

No, I don't agree. The future is Teleportation and Interstellar travel. Let's see how Bold is Tim Cook and if he can drive the Apple Enterprise ** see what I did here?! ** to places where no one has been before.

But I totally agree with you on the idea of wearing 1000 dollar sound equipment. It's probably sound producing equipment which is a different story and comparing airpods to that is nonsense.

Hmm, I'm not sure they will be anywhere but Apple retail stores next week.

I have found that to be true actually. I have gone to the apple store a few time and while they had stock it was just wrong color or whatever. I will try the "hidden" spots that I always have luck with and if I don't find it I'll make my way to the apple store.

the apple rep at the store did say that when they are available in store you can buy them via the apple store app and then just pick them up and walk out. Hopefully it is up to date that morning or right at open on Monday. If I don't get them upon release I won't die, I only use headphones about once a week but I could see myself using these more often simply because of ease of use and size (don't have to have the solo2 wireless which are still big to just casually be walking around in a suit). Well, here's to the fun of finding out if I can land the new stuff on launch day!

me to! I love that I can have 2 in my ear rocking out and simply put one in the case when I need to hear stuff around me or if someone starts talking to me about bs. Plus it charges when I put it in the case! I really see myself using these much more than normal head phones where you have to have them around your neck or crooked on your head of you want to hear anything or carry them.

Are these hype or a necessity?

60/40 hype IMO. Yes I will use them much more than any headphone before simply because of how easy it is to use them on any device. I can simply put one in my ear at night at watch my iPad without bothering the wife and having pain in the ear I am laying on!

Just wish they came in black!

That wasn't my point, it was that a new release that is already on the market, and doesn't appear to offer anything new surely isn't more exciting than the first iPhone release. Is the untangling of wires that much of a hassle. And if it was, you would already own some.

It's started to become a hassle yes as I have steered to use my earbuds more and more due to either new work location and going out on more walks for example

I feel many people are too negative on these. For some, it's a really useful product, me included. I love the ultra compactness of these and the good charging/battery solution. I listen to a ton of podcasts, so I'll often use them only in one ear. I also live in Canada and not having a bunch of cords (even simple one wire bluetooth headphone cords) tangled up in my coat/scarf during the winter will be great. And regarding price, they're expensive, but not a ripoff, as they're very competitive compared to similar products.

As with anything, your level of interest depends on your needs. Of course if you don't care that much about size and care a lot about sound quality, these aren't for you. To each his own!

Even with the Airpods, I still will use some of wired headphones.

My wife will continue to use her wired headphones. She, like most, is mildly interested in wireless BT and eventually will come around. This is more true when we both get the iPhone 7.

There will be more and more used wired headpieces on the market and competitors' BT devices available cheaply.

Yes, this is the end of the beginning of the wireless experience.

The new things here (for my interest really), are:

1) W1 chip that allows increased range, battery life and ability to seamlessly switch between devices (I honestly can't stand having to disconnect and repair between my watch, iPhone, iPad and Mac)

2) Ability to use a single or two AirPods (so often with my current Bluetooth buds or my Moto Hint I prefer to have a bud in just one ear).

3) ZERO wires. I've been using Bluetooth buds/headphones for over a decade. And for the past 5-6 years I've been using different Jaybirds for workouts/running/cycling/etc. As nice as they are the wire drives me crazy, and like I said in 1, switching between devices is a pain.

Now - 2 and 3 are partially covered by something like the Bragi Dash (and they add the ability to swim with them as well which really intrigues me), but those were out very recently and are nearly double the price.

I use Jaybirds at the gym 4-5 days a week, and I'm honestly quite excited to change. My usual routine is listening to music with the Jaybirds paired to my watch during strength training, and then I go through the usual process of disconnecting and re-pairing them to my iPhone when I'm running on the treadmill and watching video. And sometimes I even switch again to an iPad mounted in front of me when I'm cycling indoor. Honestly can't stand it anymore, can't wait to see how AirPods will work for switching between devices.
