Also, I believe AirPods are the sole product that's been released under Tim Cook's leadership. It can be seen as one of his greatest accomplishments for his Apple career.

As per the opening intro video, Ive's voice states Apple has been working for years to come to a wireless future, so may have been in development before Jobs' passing, who knows(?). Apple Watch also released under Cook, but again has been in development for years - led by Ive while working on Apple Campus 2 space ship.

I'm surprised they don't come standard with an iPhone Pro.
Better yet I'm surprised they haven't figured out a way to slide them into your iPhone (maybe with a case attachment) to charge them and carry them.

Too bad, for all they offer in terms of convenience and user experience they still can’t match the quality/standards of consumer grade digital audio from over 40 years ago. Let alone surpass them
Be careful what you say here, people will come for you. AirPods are nowhere near other true wireless earbuds in terms of sound quality. Sony, Anker, B&O, Sennheiser, and maybe even JBL make better sounding TW earbuds.

I didn’t buy into the hype at first. Bought BeatsX with that annoying neck band. After about a year I finally got the AirPods.

Immediately I realized they were the nicest earbuds I’d ever used. Was surprised by the sound quality and the fit.

I upgraded to AirPods Pro as soon as they were available. Traveling by train a lot so noice cancelling is vital. Have been using them every day since.

Which people?

Several verified sources? This is the internet and anybody can make any claim.

as much as i have experience with these gadgets, they are used for intercepting.

Apple has also dabbled in wearables with the iPod shuffles but especially with the 6th gen iPod nano, going as far as including watch faces for people who were wearing them on their wrists.

I think what made the AirPods so popular was its extremely simple process of "pairing" one to an iPhone with either the W1, H1 or H2 chips. However, due to possible EU regulations, Apple may have to update iOS/iPadOS to do the same to third-party wireless headphones and also support the Sony LDAC codec, which is widely used by Android phones.

Had the OG pair. They were fine. Case design for all AirPods is still subpar: Not the best experience trying to pull them out of the case - and not fond of the 'ski sale' of earbuds every time you happen to drop the case.

AirPods with A1523 and version 6.8.8 disconnect consistently with in 20 seconds of connecting to iphone. Apple is aware of this issue but refuse to fix with firmware update. google this and you will get several pages of user complaints of airpods disconnecting. very frustrating.

I agree! seems like it's targeted more toward the software and services instead of the hardware.

Don’t worry, AR and CAR are coming.
You still missed Apple Watch 😄
it was supposed to be additive to my previous comment to Yay.

But I did forget:
- Pencil
- Home Pod & HP Mini
- AirPods Max
- Beats lineup
- Maps

I too got them on Day One. Remember going to San Francisco Apple Store and waiting in line to get them. Then unboxing them and getting on BART train back to Oakland. When I put them in my ears and heard that first sound I was blown away. Finally, a Bluetooth earbud that would stay in my ear without a hook and in which I could alternate and get the same quality therefore extending my usage time. Now AirPods(Pro) are part of my EDC.

Exactly! Happy for her) I would get them for my grandparents, but they don't have iPhones and I wouldn't be able to set them up for them remotely anyway...
My mom is on her 4th iPhone (4S,6,6S+,11pro) and uses it to manage her bank and medical portal in addition to FaceTime and messages & email.

I set it all up for her across an ocean using iCloud in my Mac, and populated her contacts as well, and she maintains it.

Also uses it to manage her hearing aid. She’s only got 25% hearing in one ear and the made for iPhone integration is a hood send for telephonic conversations.

To my understanding of here is a way you can set up watches for seniors and kids who don’t have an iPhone.

One of the worst 'design' decisions for the environment, and something on principle I will never adopt. No headphone jack = no buy for me, and for a committed Apple enthusiast my whole life, it looks like I've have to hold onto an iPhone SE 1st gen or 6S forever.
You can return them to apple for recycling.

Ooo I forgot about the Nanos. Never had one of those personally. The only "Shuffle" I had was this bad boy with its whopping 1GB storage. I think it actually dangled off a lanyard if I remember right, but I'll be danged if I can find that. Note sure why I still have this device at all except for nostalgia haha

Edit to be clear for those that don't know, that's a USB-A connection (not C, this is long back in the day before USB-C). This thing was pretty chonky for what it is at about 3.25" long, 1" wide, 3/8" thick or so.

EDIT: Yes, this is the first-generation iPod Shuffle from 2005 and yes it did have a second end-cap that had a lanyard attached. I definitely don't have that end cap anymore but man this is a blast from the past that I had hiding out in a random drawer alongside a 60GB iPod haha.
