Actually (most not all) people seem to be aware of the need to buy / pay for the case, they aren’t asking for it to be free, they are demanding what they perceive to be a fair price.
Do they think someone here can satisfy them?

I've had ENOUGH of these ott-priced Apple accessories. Although, I know I'll be getting these as I loveeeee my AirPods. Still, **** you, Apple.

LOL this is obscene. $159 for Airpods, $69 for this case, probably ~$99 for the AirPower mat whenever it's available. I mean, honestly, this is idiotic. I hope this crap backfires in the biggest way.
Not here to defend Apple, but consider that case also holds a Li-ion battery and charging circuitry, is well designed and is not made from cheap, crappy plastic, so the price seems reasonable.

What does hurt is the fact that many people have only had their AirPods for a short period of time, so many are naturally upset (and rightly so) about replacing something they just got, so soon.

I got my AirPods last December. I get that they were a little tricky to get a hold of (though not really if you put in even a tiny bit of effort), but a year between isn't that outlandish. It's not like I'm that upset (or upset at all, really).

The miracles of wireless charging!

You need:
#1 - An AC adapter that plugs into the wall.
#2 - A Lightning power cable.
#3 - A wireless charging mat.
#4 - A charging case.

So much easier than just plugging your devices into the wall.
Or, you know, any other pair of headphones that just gets power by virtue of being plugging into something else that has power.

For those of you waiting for "True wireless charging from anywhere in your home/car", enjoy the cancer caused by living in a strong induction loop. (Hope I'm wrong though...)

I think that until they are available walk in at a store they haven't finished rolling out the product. So while it may be true that people have had them for a year, saying it is has been year since they came out is misleading.

Well we can agree to disagree there...

Let's just hope Anker makes one.

People can't be surprised that Apple accessories are overpriced. $50 for leather cases, and $30 for a 2 m lightening cable...they've never been fair pricing accessories we need.

They even stopped including the MBP extension cord in the new MacBook Pros. Cmon.

I just wish they would tell us whether or not the wireless charging case will be included with new AirPods for the same price in the future.

How come what they PERCEIVE to be a fair price, is always less then the listed price? Always.

You two will have to ask the masses.

Personally, I am not interested in this product, but in the past I have gone directly to direct Apple with my comments or concerns. Not that it ever matters in the end though ;) .

Wouldn't waste my money on a new case til new AirPods are available with Bluetooth 5.0

Once those are set, you wouldn't do any plugging again. Unlike plugging stuffs everytime.

Except your AirPods into the AirPod charging case.

What do you mean my home or car? I expect satellite power. We're on the verge of satellite internet replacing cellular internet, just like cellular replaced wifi and wifi replaced wired, so I expect my power to similarly be transmitted directly to my device from space.

or you know if you travel a lot and become tired of bringing 2x-3x iphone chargers, two lightning cables, one apple watch cable and then you arrive at the hotel in japan only to see one outlet available.

Yeah, I know, that'll be nice. But right now my devices that need to be charged are:
iPhone, Laptop, Switch. So when will I see a laptop that wirelessly charges? I know the Switch won't natively do it anytime soon, but how about an accessory that lets me do it?

£69 just to get a wireless charging feature is ridiculous. That'll mean your total outlay on the AirPods would be £159 + £69 = £228. Insane! But then again, we already knew the price of the wireless charging case would be ridiculous anyways.
You can't add those 2 numbers to gather, because Wireless charging is an additional accessory, it is like adding Airpoda to iPhone price.

Planning to pickup a pair, any rumors of a new version coming out? Found some for a good price, just not sure to jump or wait for official news.

At the event they didn’t announce any new AirPod’s, all they announced was a new Qi compatible charging case to be sold separately.

So should be fine to pounce on them if you’re getting a good deal.

Wait if you care about wireless charging. Personally I would rather have two more months of enjoyment out of them than wireless charging.

I’m okay without wireless charging, I would probably get a charging dock.
