The wireless coil takes up space in the phone and adds heat and weight. Use that space for a mega battery and your phone will last so long it won’t matter how you charge it.
It'd be useful as hell -- i rarely need to charge my iPad more than once per week. Always multiple use cases...Wireless charging on an iPad makes little sense, it would take close to 24hr just to fully charge it.
nonsense. utter and complete garbage.Tim Cook should step down over this. Ultimately it's his responsibility Apple failed to deliver on this. If he doesn't, the board should fire him.
I could design a simple coil of wire to make a charger. I'm guessing Apple is working on something a bit more involved!Even very small vendors can design and successfully manufacture these, but Apple can't sort out overheating issues. This company is nothing but amusing lately and not in a good way!
"Promises" are for your wife or kids.
A business said they'd release a product 2018 and it didn't happen for whatever business reasons. There are no promises in business.
We've got bigger problems than AirPower at the moment. You making excuses. How surprising.
Wireless charging on an iPad makes little sense, it would take close to 24hr just to fully charge it.
I’m not sure if the heat generated through that process is good for the battery in the long runNot if it was able to use all three of the "charging" locations. If we assume the AirPower can charge three items at 7.5W each, then maybe it could charge the ipad at 22.5W.
I was thinking this may be part of the actual hold up. Getting the Airpower to work with 3 separate devices no matter where they are placed, but also allowing the iPad to charge 3x as fast/
I hardly doubt these are comparable things: Apple just didn’t manage to buy any companies behind that in-screen Touch ID technology. Both Touch ID and Face ID were invented by seperate start-ups that Apple acquired back in the day.I guess with Air-power delayed, you can kinda predict the year ahead..
If Apple has cancelled this due to reasons unknown (too hard), just like they did with trying get TouchID under the screen to work ...and failed.... they came clean in the end..
There would have been some evidence that pointed down to the fact "This won't happen", but I guess they still trying to get it to work... on par with under the screen TouchID. If Apple like challenges, it seems the list of "can't do" increases.
So Apple straight-up lied to customers; it's OK to say it....The calendar has turned over to a new year and Apple has officially failed to deliver on its promise of releasing the AirPower mat in 2018
AirPower is about 'random placement' not just a multi device charge pad, that is the difference. I would buy one in a heartbeat if it ever became available. The Powermat 12 years ago had this technology. Yet Apple cant make it work in 2019
You’ve changed your narrative from “its too late” to “people are shopping”.
Three iPhones support wireless charging, the 8, XR and XS. Regardless, no one can make any judgement calls, I would say at minimum, if Apple releases this product perhaps during the 2019 iPhone release, with adequate marketing, it has its appeal for multiple device charging and _should_ be successful in its own right. As I mentioned, if it’s implemented appropriately. It really depends on one’s attraction to this device and if they see the initial benefit.
Overheating issues have been present in many of their devices up till today, capped i9, heat damaging batteries hence throttling CPUs on iphones, even their "thermal friendly" designed trashcan Pro.
We've got bigger problems than AirPower at the moment.
Well, I know that I have a lot of things personally that I should do or buy even if an AirPower mat was available right now, so I guess it’s a true statement. We’ve?
Yes, I do own some of the company in an amount significant to me.We’ve?
Yes, I own part of the company. A small part, obviously, but ownership nonetheless. We’ve?
Thats not the point, here. Of couse its not regular charging mat as its Apple we are talking about here.
I was simply trying to illustrate that Apple has gone downhill recently and new products are not as exciting as they used to be. So yeah, use common sense.
Or is there actually anyone who like the touchbar MBP, keyboard, inflated prices, notch, inferior materials on new iPad, mac pro/mini update cycles etc.?
I think 2014 was the tipping point for Apple and since then it went slowly downhill. And if charging mat is so technically challenging that it requires so much work etc. (which I'm sure it does) then I would really really want Apple to focus on their product line first as that is more needed than a charging mat.
