Got my AirTags yesterday. Kinda disappointed. They are pretty thick. Wanted to put in wallet but it makes it bulge too much. No-one wants to see a bulge in your pants!

That seems like a lot of paper money to carry about. Is ApplePay not reliably accepted in your area? Not having to carry a wallet around has been great for me (I look forward to replacing keys too).

Yes they do. When you first connect the AirTag to your iPhone, the setup process has you choose what item the AirTag is gonna be attached to. From a pre-determined list.

Why are people talking about supported or not supported. They're designed to track/find items, and will allow you to track/find any item you use it with as long as you can attach it to, or place it in, said item.

People need to understand that they are NOT designed to stop theft. If it offers some assistance in that area, then bonus.

Is it really that difficult?

Ok ok. :). I removed a few of the bills and it isn't so bad. Just wish the AirTags were flat and not rounded. I do use Apple Pay everywhere but you never know when you need a few bills.

I’m now an old fart and sometimes I lose my car in parking lots. I’d put one in my glove box.

You are probably joking, but... I see a lot of posts that makes me think that some people don't realise that these things are not equipped with GPS, nor with a transmitter that reaches beyond a few 10s of feet.

Whereas your phone on its own is perfectly able to record your car location and lead you right back where you left it.

I predict a lot of disappointed customers when they finally realise that these are not trackers.

I still am amazed the anticipation and excitement about such a non-product. Everyone will be trying to lose their keys just to experience the “hunt”. And then posting the requisite boring video of the subsequent find.

Yeah, I'd like a flat one too, not just for wallets but for passports etc.

Have you tried going without your wallet? I was reluctant at first but it's actually been great. I still take one when I travel out of the city (for example around my mum's village the taxis only take cash) but day to day I literally never need it :)

I have the opposite to what most people in the uk seem to be reporting.

Dispatched according to the application Apple store, but nothing from DPD yet.

I ordered last Friday, supposed to be here this Friday. It’s been stuck on “preparing to ship” ever since.
Update: as I’m sure it’s happened to everyone waiting, status has updated to “Shipped”. Noice. 👍

My Airtag has shipped, but won‘t be delivered until May 3 - as May 1 is a public holiday here (Germany) I am not surprised by this. It isn’t a problem though, as my key-ring to go with it will not come until May 4.

So you don't mind buying an extra accessory for your product?
I like to have a pop socket on the back of my phone, to stand it up on its side while I’m watching videos. It’s fun and functional. Doesn’t mean that it needs to be included though.
I like to attach my 13 inch MacBook Air to a 30 inch monitor. But I still don’t think that the monitor should be included.
I bought an airtag, with the intention to drop it into the pocket of my backpack, and that’s it. If I ever lose my backpack, I can easily find it.
I don’t need a loop, it would just be something that ends up in the wastebasket, so I don’t need it included.
Oh, and since it’s going to be in the pocket of my bag and only used to find my bag when it’s lost, I couldn’t care if it scratches or not. I don’t understand why anyone cares about that, it’s an item tracker not a piece of jewelry.

The good thing is you can replace the battery on these things. Yeah I don’t loose stuff much but got one of these anyway to check out along with the key ring.

Right on, good point. We’ve survived without the trackers and the constant information all the time.
And we survived without the iPhone before 2007, and without the iPod before 2001, and without the Internet before the 90s, and without computers before that.
It’s called technological evolution, it’s supposed to make our lives easier.
It may be hard to believe, but at one time, there was no television, or radio stations, record players, easily accessible entertainment.
Now there is, and now there’s a way to track your things so you don’t lose them.
Do you think it’ll be useful? Great, then buy one.
Do you think it’s a waste of money? Perfect, then keep your wallet closed.

It’s legitimately stupid, potentially evil, and subjects the whole world to becoming an A.I. tracking map. I feel like we should have convened a federal privacy panel before this was even allowed to be just because of the pervasiveness of iPhone. I mean, the potentials for a secret nefarious use cases is more likely than not. WTF is law enforcement planning on doing with this was my first thought.

My biggest question is… what happens when you step on a train and there are 42 AirTags around? Does your phone blow up with notifications? I just hate, hate, hate this because it isn’t just YOU who owns an AirTag, it’s a form of community property that will become toxic garbage for generations. The world did not need an AirTag.

How do these fit into their so-called environmental initiatives?
Um… you do realize that these are not the only thing that Apple makes that tracks you? Basically everything they make tracks you. Their phones track you, their iPads track you, the Apple TV tracks you, HomePod, everything.
Also, how on earth did you take a device that supposed to help you find your lost wallet and keys, and turn it into some sort of “we live in a dystopian society” thing? They’re cheap plastic discs you stick on things that tell you where they are, nothing more, nothing less. They’re not gonna change the world, they’re not gonna cause the earth to blow up, they’re not going to push the human race even further to being mindless zombies, so this argument is just completely ridiculous.
As for the environmental argument, Apple said that they wanted to use more environmentally friendly materials, they didn’t say that they’re just going to stop making products because of the environment.
They are a company, their main goal is to make money, and they make money by releasing new products.
You are only notified of an airtag that isn’t yours if that airtag has been separated from its owner for a long amount of time, and has been following you. It’s not just going to pop up if you sit next to someone on a train with an airtag.

I keep losing my iPhone , it’s black and I have dark furniture , it sounds crazy I know

Id like to use my Apple Watch to find it and the apple remote , is that possible ?

On your Apple Watch’s face, swipe up to bring up the control center.
There’s a “ping iPhone” button right there.
Alternatively, hold down the dial on the side, and when Siri pops up, say “where’s my phone?”

OK, I am still not sure as to whether you are serious, but judging from your disagreement to my previous response it would seem that you are.

That being the case:

- Your iPhone and your iPad already have the “find my” functionality built in. Therefore, if lost, you can find them using various tools offered to you by the Find My functionality built on the iCloud platform.

- Yes you can find your phone using your watch by making it sound a loud alarm. You do this by swiping up on your watch and press the top right button (the one with a symbol of a phone ringing).

You don’t need an Airtag to find your iPhone or iPad.
