As much as I'm looking forward to see Alias again, the previews that Vaughn isn't really dead just underscores how many times this show "jumped the shark." I really wish we could rewind the clock on Alias back to the middle of Season 2 and get it back on track. Oh, well.... I'll just enjoy the show for what it is vs. what it might have been.

Anyone have a clue what's been happening in Alias-land? I really hope there's some sort of recap. It's been so long that I don't remember much.

Jennifer Garner may have given birth, but Sydney Bristow is very pregnant in the episode tonight. So I guess she won't be running out of exploding buildings or skydiving or beating up sadistic dentists as much as usual.

Sydney's baby will probably be part of the story, since Alias has always been a family-oriented spy show. Oops, bad phrasing... a show about a particular family of spies.

Two-hour episode review

We don't know what Tom is up to, but there's a bigger mystery: How did a baby blanket appear as soon as the baby was born!?!?

Other than that, the episode was completely plausible, including having Sydney and Jack trust Irina further than they could throw her (yeah, right) and having everyone accept Tom's excuse for being in the wrong room at the CIA (yeah, right) and having nobody wonder why Marshall was so jumpy while claiming he wasn't doing anything (yeah, right). And of course Jack had no problem bringing a handgun into the meeting with the seven directors (yeah, right).

Not that I'm a nitpicker or anything (yeah, right).

I did like Arvin's trick (a quick cross-office phone call) to prevent Devlin from discovering his phone log. Of course, he didn't really want Rachel to know what that phone call was about either. And I liked Rachel's cell phone that snooped on the CIA computers while in the storage room. I've gotta get one of those; I'm sure I'll need it.

I told Jack to make sure Peyton was done for after that firefight in the bank, but he didn't hear me yelling at the TV.

Tonite: the 100th episode of the series.

We'll meet some old friends, namely Will Tippin (Bradley Cooper) and Anna Espinosa (Gina Torres). Of the two, I like Anna better because she has much more self-confidence! :D

J.J. Abrams was back to his favorite number 47 today. Anna demanded page 47 and Will's countdown timer started at 47.

I picked up a nice quote from Will in tonite's episode, which I'll remember because I'm sure will come in handy sometime:
"My head is beeping!"

Good to have actually seen one of my favourite lead characters in the final scene last week...

and then as suspected... it seems that Sydney and her father knew all along (this week?!!!).

Was good to see Will...
and as for the "there is only one Sydney Bristow"...mmm not sure where this is going... didn't we do the whole 'double' thing already?!?!!

Maybe it's all leading up to a Parent Trap movie, with twin Sydneys trying to get the family back together. :)

I can see why Alias is ending. There's a lot less posting in this thread than there used to be. Maybe the half dozen of us still watching should go out to lunch to talk about it instead of posting here. We'd all fit in one SUV!

Did anyone capture a frame of page 47 in the fireplace? It had symbols on it but it went by too fast to absorb. I'm sure we'll have no trouble decoding it if we can stare at it long enough.

I really like Alias. Last night episode was stellar.

In the fire I only really recognized the Rambaldy (sp?) symbol.

ONce they killed off Vahn (sp?) it wasn't worth it anymore. Season 1 and 2 were awesome, 3 was alright, and 4 was dead stupid. I can't imagine where season 5 would go.

therefore, to those who are curious its NOT WORTH THE TIME

At times I wish the show did not have that "music video" ending where there is a select piece of slow music that plays during the last 10 or so minutes while the characters mingle around looking sad or such.

LOL omg this is so true

Will Tippin is made of awesome.

I posted this in the Lost thread, so I guess it belong here too because it also applies to Alias.

Vaughn is still very much alive.

Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello!

Anybody there? Anybody there? Anybody there? Anybody there?

Just as I thought -- the Alias fan base has shriveled so much that I hear an echo in here.

The last show of the series, 2 hours, will be next Monday, not Wednesday. The question I'm pondering is whether somebody we know will turn out to be good not bad or bad not good after all, i.e., is there one amazing last twist to the plot, or will they simply have lots of action until the good guys shoot the bad guys and Sydney and Vaughn walk into the sunset?

do you even really need to ponder? it ::is:: J.J. Abrams, you know there'll be a twist :p

Here we go!

Tonite the series ends with the double episodes of "Reprisal" and "All the Time in the World".

Goodbye, Sydney and friends!

Which finale

Watching 24 season finale instead. Easier plot to fallow. Got tired of Alias being re-invented every season. Have no idea who all these new characters are and could care less. Maybe when season 5 is on DVD I'll catch up.

Q, clue me in on what happens.. can't possibly be arsed to watch it :p
Spoiler alert!
It turns out everyone we know is a good guy, except for Marshall, who without telling anyone else has deciphered Rambaldi's final artifact, a DVD with a dmg file containing a copy of the specifications for the Apple iPhone, which has some secret codes designed into the case. The information leads him to a secret cave under the base of the Washington Monument, where he unearths the ultimate weapon: the shrinking gun used by Wayne Szalinski in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and uses it to shrink everyone else as he takes over the world. He carefully selects a team of nerds as his henchmen (who he calls his "Flinkmen") and they obey his every order and keep the rest of the population in line while Marshall spends his days playing with gadgets and watching reruns of Max Headroom on his Betamax.

In other words, everything turns out exactly as Rambaldi had prophesized: The geeks inherit the earth!

The End

I didn't entirely get or care about most of it. They went for the happily ever after ending. The one thing that was cool was the final showdown between Sloan and Jack. At first I thought Sloan was in Jack's head as he was dying, but then I realized over the course of the conversation that Sloan had become immortal through the Rembaldi machine. Then Jack takes his revenge. That was cool.
But I thought Sloan said it wasn't about immortality when he beat that guy to death last season. To quote him "You missed the whole point!"

I also didn't like it. Though I suspect I would have had an easier time following it if I had watched the whole season.

I wanted Jack to live. Although hearing him tell Sloane "You beat death, Arvin, but you couldn't beat me" was great.

Whatever. I didn't like season 4 or season 5 (what I saw of it). Loved the first three (yes, I liked the 3rd season.)

Jack was the man

I always suspected Jack would sacrifice himself for the greater good whenever the series ended. He's not a family guy. He wouldn't quite fit into a happily ever after ending. Glad he went out in style.

I agree it fits with the character, I just don't like it when people die. It makes me sad - even though I know they're really just actors  :D
