Wow.

Indeed, supply chain rumors hint to iPhone 7 orders being rised to 100 millions to year's end, from 72-78 millions Apple expected to sell.

Samsung's self-annihilation has a part in this, of course.

PS: if you have shorted AAPL, cover it as soon as possible, it's going to a fresh ATH.

Well considering this is the 11th iPhone Apple has made and that the company is run by a supply chain guru this lack of stock of all plus models and jet black models seems to me like poor planing.

The space black stainless steel Apple Watch was not available for a month or more after they launched thewatch. It's surprising Apple got it wrong again. But then, whilst people keep buying, their mistakes don't seem to affect them too much

Bash me all you want, but every year I stand in line to get the flagship model of the launch to resell. I always sell the pre-order ahead of launch so in this case I sold a pre-order for the iPhone 7 Plus - Jet Black - 128GB - Factory Unlocked (Verizon model) for $1,580.00 on eBay for a shipping date of 9/16/16 to overnight deliver on 9/17/16. Every year I was successfully able to retrieve a the highest in demand model by waiting it out in like for walk-ins at the Apple Store. I guess this year is different and the 1st year that this has happened. CRAZY! I guess I have to refund... hahaha

This is technically the 10th flagship iPhone, if you are including the SE and the C model, then this would be the 12th.
you're right i completely forgot about the iPhone 5c, as did most consumers considering the lackluster sales.:D

Is this just America or is this the worldwide situation?

If it's worldwide I'm really surprised especially given the massive price hikes in the EU/UK as a lot of people feel they are getting less phone (headphone jack/Old design) for more money.

You sold a 128GB iPhone for $1,580? You knowingly ripped that person off, massively. How do you sleep at night?

here is an idea apple, ALLOCATE stock for retail at launch day.

And given the logistics involved, this was a planned moved all along. They even had the prepared press release....

You can all blame Angela for this, when I went to buy the new MacBook, no retail stores had them for months, the staff just kept pushing me to online .

Now iPhone users are getting the Angela retail treatment.....

We get it apple, build the hype for a phone that looks the same 3 years running......its in such a huge demand, I really want it now, better order online asap, so I don't have to wait to the new year..... this followed by reports next year that iPhone sales have taken a downward spiral.....Apple markerting is the only thing innovating at the moment....and doing major overtime.

The fact that these are not available in stores I think is a direct result of the iPhone upgrade program issues. Apple likely had to use their in-store stock to make up the difference.

That said, I have a Rose gold iPhone 7Plus and a jet black iPhone 7 both coming on launch day.

(If anyone wants to make an offer, I may be willing to sell and ship express to you).

Pure and simple, they lied.

They should never have given a release date of any of the iPhones no matter size nor capacity unless they had stock to fulfill that promise.

If production issues had surfaced they would have known weeks in advance of the keynote and could have changed the dates.

They could have even stated that the jet black would be a seperate preorder, or that it would ship at a later date.

I'm bummed. Not because I was up at 3 am, but because I have always recieved my item on launch day, and have always ordered within 1 minute of the site coming up.

This may just be my last preorder.

Apple was late to the gate in getting production started on the 7 series. Water resistance issue quality issue.

There was only one week between preorders and launch day for them to adjust and catch up on building inventory this year compared to last year.

I had a chance to order my Black 7plus through ATT at about 03:05 est.

I ended up waiting for the Apple site to go live for me and it did at about 03:18 est.

Got my email order confirmation at 03:22 est.

Now, I hope and wonder if I did the best thing by waiting for what I assumed would be the best chance to get a launch day phone.

And I also hope the water resistance issue was actually rectified and the phone not forced into, production in the name of stock prices.
