As OP and I were discussing, MagSafe charges at 15W, while Qi is limited to 7.5W. Whether that capability is specifically valued by you isn’t especially relevant. If your requirements are satisfied by the slower charging rate, that’s great.
My response was to the "that’s hardly underwhelming" statement.

15W Qi charging isn't new to the world, it's just new to the Apple platform. Okay, it's handy for those who've found 7.5W Qi to be limiting, so Yay Apple! (with a hop and handclap if you wish) for coming up to par.

Still not overwhelming. Not really even "whelming" for the folks for whom it doesn't solve anything.

You're of course welcome to feel differently.

Maybe it’s just me, but I have tried a wide variety of car mounts, including vent clips, adhesives, suction cups, and magnets, and not a single one has ever worked for me. The phone just falls right off within minutes. I have decided that it’s better to just let the phone lie flat and use CarPlay.

This Anker mount works brilliantly and charges wirelessly.

You’re not making any sense.

OP said “MagSafe again proving to be utterly underwhelming!” I said doubling the charging from 7.5W to 15W is “hardly underwhelming.”

Whether you specifically need the faster charging is completely irrelevant to MagSafe’s ability to supply double the charging rate 🤷‍♂️

My post was clear. Apple catching up to other’s existing 15W Qi charging capability isn’t anything special.

If you want to send them a participation trophy go ahead, but this simply isn’t a notable accomplishment.

Good day.

Sorry to have triggered you, but switching your argument to saying that MagSafe isn’t “anything special” or a “notable accomplishment” is not relevant to my point—I never claimed it was.

Your post reminds me of Samsung fans who say, “who cares if Apple’s CPU is twice as fast, smartphones don’t need that kind of power anyway” just because all they do is play on Facebook all day.

PS If you hadn’t edited my reply, you might have noticed you didn’t address my point.

The issue is not "whether Apple is doing something special"; the issue is that those of us in the Apple ecosystem are happy to have access to this functionality, at least as an option -- 15W and magnetic attachment.

If you're not part of the Apple ecosystem, WTF do you care either way? Even if this functionality were available on Samsung or whatever, that doesn't change the fact that what WE wanted wasn't available and now it is.

There's no "issue" unless you somehow have difficulty with being exposed to opinions different from yours. If you want to think this is a BIG DEAL you're quite welcome to have the opinion. My opinion is different. Deal with it.

What a ridiculous assumption. Surely you don't seriously believe Apple device owners so monolithic in their opinions that anyone not excitedly jumping up and down over MagSafe must be outside the Apple ecosystem.

I've already responded to your point - you think Magsafe "hardly underwhelming" - I'm unsure why you feel there's need for any additional response? This is why I trimmed the irrelevant portion from the quoted material.

Anyway...

You've stated your opinion. I've stated mine; and expanded upon it after your after your dismissive "not especially relevant" response.

Unless you're one who is intolerant of opinions differing from yours, there's no "argument" here.
