my neighbour's husband travels to Foxcoon Zhengzhou every 2-3 weeks, he told me all what we see and image so far are not true.......

Please tell us more...what goes on there that we are seeing or imagining incorrectly? Thanks!

What's the deal with people wanting that small of a phone? Don't you want decent screen real-estate?
Several billion people want a bigger screen in a smaller package.
So welcome to the idea of foldable screens - as being explored by several suppliers, except Apple because Tim Cook wants to play safe.
But ooaaaahhouwauw, I am soooo excited about that name - as the rest is so ehhh predictable...

Funny though, it made me think of the 5c again.

I know it’s very very wrong (and I never owned one) but I liked that phone!

I mean, who didn’t secretly want to own the bright yellow version? Ok only me...

It was one of Apple’s most misjudged phone models as they thought they were going to sell loads but everyone wanted the faster, Touch ID enabled & let’s face it, classier looking, 5c.

And we probably have it to thank the 5c the bright oversaturated current look of iOS which was intended to match the 5c.

Hmm. Maybe now I don’t like the 5c as much after all!

Ha, me as well. I bought the better top of the line iPhones because I wanted the latest performance. But yes, I kind of did want a plastic shelled iPhone that I didn't feel the need to put in a case. And the colors (maybe not yellow) would have been great.

How do you know they’re not exploring it?

Normally I wouldn't complain too much about price. In the end, I almost always opt for top-of-the-line anyway. But for some reason, when I look at the pricing of an iPhone and say it out loud, I always get a little sick about it.

$1000 for a phone. When you figure in the cost of your wireless service, you really have to look at it with some perspective—which most people don't. They just want the latest and greatest and don't think about the cost.

I'm not sure I get the personal value out of it. I love having the 8 Plus, but I can tell you that I'm never buying one again... and it's strictly due to the cost.

I guess I'm at the age where I've simplified my life enough that I can't take advantage of everything the iPhone can do, so I can't justify the cost like I can with a laptop or desktop.

even though i dont have the iphone x because of the cost, i honestly think the iphone is worth the price over the competition. I love IOS and how fluid it runs and how everything from the ecosystem, to the applications are better optimized and just look cleaner and polished.
On top of it you get free updates for a few years something that you cant get from the competition unless you put a custom rom in it.
im still using my iphone 6s and it runs so smooth something that in my past experience with the competition didnt exist after a year of owning the phone

I think Apple, by now, can afford to reduce all their products costs, thus pass it on to its loyal followers. Instead £1,000/$1000, it should ask for £500/$500.

And you can afford to just pay £100 at the grocers every time you pick up £50 worth of food.
So go ahead & get back to us after you’ve started doing that.

Great point! You made me remember why I liked them i.e. that they came with a case on them already (so to speak).

And I thought that in 2013 we were heading to a future where iPhones became more durable...

Instead, if I ever take my 7 out of its case without there being thick carpet around me, I break out into palpitations.

And anyone who uses their X without a case is showing off how rich they are, given that the X is not going to survive a tumble with all of that steel, glass and battery weighing it down!

Oh and another thing - those 5cs were pretty light, too.

Anyway - roll on this Wednesday and a new series of phones that you’re too scared to look at in case they crack!

Because they have 10,000 patents sleeping somewhere in the basement that they don’t pursue, only use to scare off the competition.
For the market leader it is all about defending market share and milking current business to the max.
Glass backsides while there are 1000s of better materials - Duh
Mediocre battery life - depleting the planet’s lithium reserve despite all the bla about conserving the planet.
Coal, oil and gasheated stores in the EU despite being 100% green.
Mostly white males on the board despite diversity claims.
Duh...Cookette business.

I and my wife owns iPhone X. She has dropped iPhone X on a marble and it has not given any dent or scratch or broken. Just a normal fall. Obviously if it's dropped heavily it will not survive. Also, when you don't use the cover, your subconscious mind is more alert automatically while holding your iPhone.

We use many things in life which are without covers and they are far more expensive than iPhones. It's just in everybody's head that it's a 1000USD smartphone, so use carefully. Sure but it's not the end of the world and carefully used won't harm anything. There are lot of people who use without cases.

"Technically, the XC is an upgrade on the iPhone 8 though: More RAM, higher resolution screen, Face ID, True Depth Sensor Cameras w/ Animojis (gimmicky to me, but to others it's a popular feature), new form factor, etc. "

From the rumors I've read, the XC is basically an iPhone 8 Plus wrapped in an iPhone X form factor. In other words, it'll be edge-to-edge screen with FaceID but it will have iPhone 8 Plus internals (A11 SoC with 3GB RAM)

So you don't want a huge phablet but you're thinking of giving up iPhone. Hate to break it to you but pretty much everything in Android land is phablet-sized. So what are you gonna use?

Other rumors say an A12 processor for the XC. I think Apple includes an A12 processor though.

Fair enough. Each to their own. I know I take massive care with my phones but I’ve dropped each of them and caused damage each time:

3GS (no case) - cosmetic scratches on black backplate
4s (no case) - minor chips on the back glass
5s (no case) - chamfered edges indented, screen smashed & then a year later, a write off when it hit the tarmac due to the internal components taking too much of a hit
7 (apple silicone case) - immaculate so far (it never comes out of its case)

How so, Perry? And what difference does citizenship make? Just curious.
Cheers, Mosey

Normally most people don't know other countries law, I am from Europe so I don't know all about American law, what I do know is those shares are set to be available way before they are released and those people also have to say way before they are selling otherwise it could be seen as insider information/knowledge, it's illegal here and in the States.

For mass consumers.

Yes, for mass consumers, which is who Apple markets and sells to. I happen to be a software developer so my MBP is the center of my work life. But the sheer convenience and power of a smartphone means I don't have to be tethered to my desk nor have the MBP in my lap for most other digital activity. As screens get larger and connectivity gets better the phone is more and more the center of my non-work digital life.

Agreed. It's each to their own and I'm glad you pointed out about 3GS because it's nothing new that iPhones are delicate.

You are 100% wrong that Apple is not exploring foldable iPhones. Go check out www.patentlyapple.com and do a search. You'll see a lot of patents Apple has been granted with respect to foldable iPhones. If you think they're not exploring it you're delusional.
