This probably be the standard model and then there will hopefully be the AW X model. Just like how they did iPhone 8 Series and iPhone X. 🤔
No, because iPhone X represented the high-end that later was segmented into Pro and Pro Max. iPhones 8 and 8 Plus became the mid-tier that morphed into XR. From Xr to 11-13. And finally from 13 to 14/14 Plus and then 15/15 Plus.
Y'all are doing some wishful thinking assuming Watch X is going to be a big upgrade all around:
Since segmenting Watch into three tiers, Watch SE, Series 8-9, and Ultra, Apple is treating the mid-tier $399 Series Watch exactly like it treats the mid-tier iPhones, iPads Air, and MacBooks Air:
Slimmer, sleeker and more colorful designs and finishes compared to the high-end options, with good enough specs and features to meet most buyers needs.
But the mid-tier options will never get as frequent or valuable spec upgrades as the high-end options.
Apple Watch Ultra is the MacBook Pro/iPhone Pro Max/AirPods Pro 2 of the Apple Watch line-up.
Apple Watch X or Series 10 will get a new chassis and a good bit of the improvements and specs that were introduced with Ultra and Ultra 2. But its not going to trump Ultra on value/$ when considering display, battery life, etc.
Think of the changes from mid-tier iPhone 12/13/14 to mid-tier iPhone 15 -Those are the level of improvements and changes (or lack thereof) you can expect from Series 7/8/9 to Series 10.
The big specs and changes from one model to the next is only ever going to happen for Apple Watch Ultra. Ultra 3 or 4 is going to be a massive improvement over the previous model.
