The ipad mini allows normal functionality while resting ones thumb on the screen. It can distinguish a resting thumb from a pointing finger.

Give it a try. However it only works with the mini at the moment, but I suspect Apple will add this hidden gem to the new thinner bezelled ipad 5

I will take your word for it. I've got an ancient G2 and even with that honking old-timey bezel I still get unintended taps from time to time. Hooray for technological solutions to fat thumbs.

ipad isn't "cool" anymore. How about rather than focusing on black/white ipad, try making it hologram ipad.

The software (iOS) takes care of detecting accidental taps ... With the iPad mini I had the same worry first, but it works great, I never had any accidental taps or false alarms for real taps. I wouldn't expect the bigger form factor of the iPad 5 to be an issue.

I just tested this and it works on the home screen but not the games I tested. All of them did not differentiate between resting on edges and touches. This will be a real problem for a smaller bezel unless they figure something out.

I adjusted the image so that the size of the home button and corner radiuses match those of an iPad / iPad mini.

The screen does turn out the be exactly 9.7" after.

Did you see the Apple homescreen with the 50 billionth download "Thanks"?
That iPad sure looked exactly the same size as the one in your pic. Please take a look when you have time and tell me what you think.

That's definitely just the current iPad mini.
Even if you don't consider the hand size (since it could be a very big hand) you can guess it by the corner radius relative to the overall size.

Alright, I figured you would know.

Thanks,
Matt

I guess iBooks doesn't count because I'm constantly flipping pages by accident.
