Doesn't the competition already have 3GB Ram ?
2GB Ram is 2013 news.
Great! It looks exactly the same. And I don't mean that in a good way.
Thank you for the feedback! That was genuinely informative. As far as committing crimes go, I don't plan on it of course. The problem lies in the language of the Patriot Act. The guidelines to what they can consider part of a terror investigation are very loose. If there is even a slight chance that anything I access on the internet warrants a closer look at my data I'm certainly not about to gift wrap it for them! My money will go to what I feel to be the safest option. If I'm forced to have a Touch ID just for a few other incremental hardware updates, I would be just as happy with the current gen. It will probably be cheaper by that time anyway!
I would have thought there are sufficient clues in those photos for Apple to identify the location and get their own version of SEAL Team 6 mobilised to plug the leak.
So you're suggesting that Apple should make the iPad look different for the sake of it looking different? Dear lord...
Make thinner display, bigger battery. The same overall thickness as the current air, I would be happy.
And hopefully gone will be the days of dust under the glass.
Upgrade the damn ram already, constant page and app refreshes, crashes just stupid
It's 2014 and apple is selling tablets with 1GB RAM, idiotic. I love the iPad Air but the limited ram is really holding this thing back

This might be a silly question given Apple's track record, but do you suppose there is a chance that TouchID would be an optional function on the new iPad? I feel like that would be a great way to offer a price break for those who don't want this feature like myself.
I know it's a great security feature and all, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am giving up my finger print to a company so high on the NSA's priority list. Even if it is just stored as data, if anyone can access it, it's probably them...

It's a known fact that not even apple can access your fingerprint even if they wanted to, so you can put the tinfoil hat away for another day.
Thanks for the well thought out argument. I don't think I can argue with your supreme intellect and amazing writing style.
I'm sorry but it's true.
In order to get the fingerprint data (meaning the mathematical representation of that fingerprint), they'd need to:
Literally dismantle the phone
Shave off layers of the A7 to get to the pinouts leading to the touchID and secure enclave (already rendering the device inoperable as the touchID works in conjunction with the enclave and A7 to even function
Somehow connect to those pinouts
Decode the information
Reassemble it using the key (which is unique to each A7/TouchID combo)
Just the act of physically trying to access the data makes it impossible to grab.
Ps. Why are you so bothered about 'organisations' having your fingerprint? Unless you're planning to commit a serious crime any time soon whereby they'd need to track you down, a fingerprint is useless information. So I guess, don't do crimes?
My mastery of the English language is such that an emoticon is all I need to convey a thought.
Please people, don't be naive. We are way past what's in 1984 and you guys buy right into it. Apple is a known member of PRISM, even though they deny it. They are liars, as we know. Trusting corporations (judging by the love Apple here) and your governments is the beginning of civilization's downfall.
Oh, all the information we are willing to give in the name of convenience. After all, punching in 4 digits into a device takes forever. We need it faster. Faster, still.
