Indeed. Though, I think it's the other way round. Apple invented the first touch screen smart phone, and Samsung/HTC etc. refined it.

Well, there were touchscreen phones before the iPhone. You don't seem very informed...

Apple just refined existing touchscreen phones, making them usable and desired.

After that, if you think that Samsung did a better job.... Well, I don't share it, but it's an opinion.

Yeah, it's incredibly boring trying to keep what the NSA is doing in the public eye.

Newspapers already do that. They add info and value. Trolls like you just add nothing

Good artists copy, great artists steal. We get it. Apple didnt invent finger print technology.

But here is the thing with all of Apple's innovations. Yes, they've all been done before but have all failed. If it was successful initially it would be the norm now. How many phones on the market have fingerprint technology? ZERO. This is where apple shines. They take failed tech and make it successful. Deal with it. You can't blame apple for making things work. Blame the original inventor for not making it work before releasing it.
Taking failed technology and making it succeed isn't a problem, paying the rightful owners seems to be the problem. Suing people for technology/ideas you've stolen is pure hypocrisy .

If you have to click and hold to use the sensor, how do you invoke Siri from the lockscreen?

I think this is fake. Looking at my old iPhone documentation, I believe this is just an elaborate mockup someone made, just like the fake box. Why no background picture you guys wonder? White for white! Nah, I don't think so... It would have the iconic iOS 7 pic we've all been seeing since June.

The color matched backgrounds for the 5S and 5C ranges have a canvas-like texture to them. Look closer.

Samsung does something really inane like increases the size of their smartphone - innovation!

with NFC nowhere to be seen, but somehow, this will be spun that Apple was not an innovator because more Android devices with fingerprint scanners exist. Sheesh.

umm, I think NFC is here to stay...

Seriously, so what? If they want to trawl through my text messages from my girlfriend telling me to get milk on the way home from work and emails from Amazon, I'm fine with that.

I've nothing to hide, so why should I care?

Unfortunately history proves this statement wrong time and time again.

this makes it look like the button will be capacitive rather than physical which may be why we haven't seen any home button leaks. The silver ring then may just be to outline the position of the sensor area

I can imagine this has dual purpose. To outline the button as it now looks totally flat and to shield the fingerprint sensor as it is a capacitive device that will be sensitive to EM interference.

On an aside note, I'm tired of hearing my fellow Americans say that Apple won't add a feature because it's not big in the US. Get off your high horse, America is not the only country that exists on this planet, and Apple knows that.

America is not the only country that exists.

It's just the only one that matters.

Still not impressed with fingerprint ID. Most iPhone users are not housing the secrets of the universe in their phones. Simple passwords and phone location software will take care of most snoopers who happen to find or steal a stray phone.

I'll take a media slot or connection over this any day of the week. Why does Apple continue to cripple their phones by not allowing alternative media inputs? And don't give me that cloud garbage. It's no where near the flexibility or convenience of physical storage.

Some people are pretty obsessed with the NSA. These comments are awfully boring

It's kind of like kids who just found out Santa Claus isn't real.

The NSA has been doing this kind of domestic spying for decades. Your exciting lives have yet to be interrupted. I suspect they'll continue to be uninterrupted in the future.

NFC payments are massive outside the USA.

Some people here believe that if it's not in the US and/or they haven't seen it themselves in action then no one uses it. And if they see a few iPhones/iPads out and about - then everyone they see uses one and where the heck are all these android phones/tablets/etc - clearly they are still on shelves...

Shame on Otterbox. Showing off iOS7 and the 5C hours before it is released to the public! I guess this is real confirmation now that we get iOS7 today.
