Yeah........ Exactly my point...the 1st iphone looked completely different to the phones of its time
The iMac when first introduced looked completely different. In fact it still does.
The iPod looks completely different
The Apple TV looked completely different to all set top boxes at the time

The iphone "6" now however looks like every other phone out there right now - no differentiation.
If I recall, in your original post, you were saying the iPhone 6 is a copy of Samsung's phones.

Regardless, what do you expect? Everyone else copied Apple's form factor. Of course it looks like everything else out there. And since they pretty much hit upon the ideal form factor, there's nothing left but to keep making it faster, lighter, more durable, more secure, easier to use, and more functional.

If there were a better form factor, someone would have made it by now. Sorry that you feel like you're supposed to be blown away by revolutionary products every year, but that's not how Real Life works. And I don't see how you think it looks like every other phone. I can spot an iPhone 5 a mile away. This design looks nothing like any other device other than Apple's own iPads.

The iphone rumours all point to it being slimmer and a larger screen.

So if it's not as slim as the iPod touch gurantee by iphone 7 or 8 it might be.

Anything less than a full redesign like this would be a let down. Was there not a few renders of what iphone an iOS looked like a few years ago and they proved accurate? Im used they have prototypes?

----------

Can't be. It's still got a SIM card hatch.

I never knew they planned on ditching the SIM card yet. Though that was just a rumour?

Seriously since when did Apple make anything that looks almost exactly like its competitors' design?
Every year since Steve is dead. :apple: R.I.P.

Last year the software got its flat and ugly makeover, this year the hardware is becoming huge and ugly. And the year before the iPad mini adopted a competitors form factor, which no one complains about because it was an improvement.

Well based on the repeating texture pointed out by someone, this can't be real unfortunately. But I still think this would be a very realistic idea of what the iPhone 6 will look like! Maybe the homogenous alu back is a bit going far, there will have to be a window cutout for radio (just like the bottom black stripe on the iPhone, which didn't even have 3G yet).

It's fortunate that these are fake, because the front look so fugly like one of Samsung's.

Ofc I'm just speculating, but if you look at every major redesign, the SIM card has gotten smaller every second year:

2008: Mini SIM
2010: Micro SIM
2012: Nano SIM (designed by Apple themselves btw)
2014: ?

By 2014, when there will probably be a major redesign of the iphone, are they not likely to ditch the physical SIM card altogether? It's based on legacy hardware, and can't be shrinked any further. The whole SIM card structure takes up massive space within the iphone, space that could be utilised in a more Apple-ish way. And remember, we first heard of the E-SIM way back in 2010.

Some reasons for carriers not objecting to this happening:

1. Carriers are starting to sell unlocked phones with contract.
2. Unlimited Calls/SMS/MMS are getting bundled in the contracts.
3. Carriers are starting to realise they can't afford massive subsidies of the iphone in the long term.

Thus, are there any reasons left for carriers to keep insisting on tying the consumer to a physical SIM card?

So looks 100% real to me

- iPad air design, even if a render it's super close to what I would have expected to see

- plastic covers, ive never seen a fake/render with plastic especially with this kind of bubbles

- it could be an iPod touch but the touch ID suggests it must be an iPhone

The only thing I want from a new iPhone is a larger screen and a 16:10 aspect. Hopefully one or both are coming with this leak.

Paint? On an Apple product?

they should be powder coating them instead of this crappy chippy anodized finish.

Also pretty sure you can powder coat glass(Correct me if I'm wrong) covering glass in the parts it needs to see through.

Very consistent

Looks real to me, the handling of the back design with rounded edges is very consistent with the current design of both the iPad Air and iPad Mini. Apple keeps a very cohesive design and feel between all their IOS devices.

I had a feeling these were fake the moment I clapped eyes on them.

Why? The design language is the same as the 5, 5S. History has shown that with each major number change, 4, 5, etc the design also changes. The 4 and 4S has the steel band sandwiched between two pieces of glass, the 5 and 5S had the unibody with tapered edge. However the phone in the photos has the same look as the current phones (unibody with tapered edge).

SO, Id be expecting the iPhone 6 to have a NEW chassis design.

Curious what type of new form factor you are expecting? If this design takes cues from the iPod touch/iPad mini it will be different than the 5/5S. For one thing, no glass bands on top and bottom and more rounded edges whereas the 5/5S kept the squared off boxy design that the 4/4S had.

No, design-wise it is hideous. The disproportion between the top and bottom bezel is something that goes against the balanced design that Apple is known for. It is something that you see in a lot of Android phones, and it drives me nuts.

Also, what do you expect than fine tuning the iPhone design. They hit the nail on the head in 2007, so all they've been doing is minor improvements. It is the best selling line of smartphones in the world, why radically change the design when you have a fantastic one, as well as one that has been the template of two (well one highly successful) product lines?

How come there are no pics of the back of that gold phone? If it's the real thing wouldn't someone have gotten a shot of the Apple logo and iPhone name on the back?

Also on Sonny Dickson's website he has NO photos of this gold phone, only three photos of the silver case. So the photos including that gold phone didn't originate with him.

I think it's well established that the gold one / front image is a fake/render.

Question remains whether the back case is genuine. Arguments against include font and lack of antenna piece. Personally, I think it might just be real. Looking at the different images of the back case, there seems to be subtle changes in the bubbles on the plastic etc. Why would he go to that trouble to do that digitally but commit such a blooper on the front render. Anyway... I stand by my last post.

Surely you don't believe people do most of their productivity and media consumption straight from the grid. You load apps, and web pages. The note information you can fit on a page, the better. It used to be that, zoomed out, on an iPhone you couldn't really read the web page. Not so anymore, at least not where it used to be. Imagine an easier browsing experience, if nothing else. Sort of why the iPad is as successful as it is today I think.

Every device small than an iPad mini would still cause most people to pinch and zoom. People even do it on iPads ironically.

The web browsing experience on a 4.7 inch phone is going to be nearly identical to what it is now. That's my point. Anything really really useful you need a much larger screen like an iPad.
