Apple leads? , lol. 2007 called.. they want their joke back.. I suppose you still think the model T Ford is the best car available as well.. I've seen religious. zealots with less devotion than ifans.. . As I say.. these comments are hilarious..

You're wrong. They do lead. They just lead in terrible QA for their software! :D

Apple leading is quite funny, considering that each time they have made a bigger phone it is in response to everyone else seeing larger phones already out there and having the desire for Apple to build one. iOS 7 was leading the charge ... the charge of copying ideas that had been in use for awhile in Android and WebOS.

They lead!!! :)

You never use the home button? Ever?! You need a physical button for screen shotting, hard restarts and to enter DFU mode.

I did, for 5 years i've used it! And after changing to a Moto X without a physical home button and a slim bottom bezel I absolutely see no reason whatsoever to have one, and every action you mention can be done with a combo of volume and power buttons, I find your lack of vision disturbing my friend! I hope Apple realizes this soon, having more screen real estate while maintaining a slim bezel is something you will definitely be thankful for and will NOT be able to go back to the big button included bottom bezel you so hardly defend!

well in 'Real Life' Apple did it from 1999 -2012 (starting with the translucent all in one imac and to the iPhone 5, which you correctly pointed out...) so yes, i do expect the iphone 6 to continue that trend of looking different and ahead from the pack.

These mock-ups do not conform to that trend given that it has 0 differentiation to its competitors. which, if accurate, would be disappointing to me.

Technological innovations are not always about outward appearance. Take the Internet for example. Would you disagree that it is possibly the single biggest technological innovation of our age? And yet, the only thing that changes about it year after year is improvements in speed and efficiency. A lot of people may take it for granted and yet, who's complaining that it's not doing anything different yet? Because it serves its main function already.

Likewise, Apple's iPhone serves its main function. It simplified and transformed the interface of smartphones. That doesn't make future improvements in the form factor any less significant. The notebook computer has essentially kept the same form factor for a couple decades. By your logic, the Macbook Air was nothing special.

Any new revolution from Apple will come from something other than the iPhone. It may not even be hardware. I suspect mobile payments above all else.

Finally someone intelligent posts.

I'm comparing a product people are using now to a possible future product. They are okay with the size now, then there is no reason to go crazy about a 5.2mm increase in height.

But I'm not okay with the size now. It's lumpy in my pocket.

It's quite clearly a mock up from martin hajek, he has used the same grunge/smudge texture on his renders on his site, and is a combo of his older designs, he even says the renders on the site are before apple came with touch ID so they did it with the home button. Defo a fake guys.

You mean everyone copied the LG prada or any of the early HTC models with a full touchscreen.. there u go, I fixed it for u.. let's not get the facts in the way of a good story eh..

here we go again...
the iPhone was a leapfrog product.. yes, it didnt invent one particular thing (there were other phones that had a chrome trim, and there were other phones with a big screen, as you'd pointed out).
but none did it with the refined look and feel that the iphone has, alongside its capabilities and combined features (accelerometer, proximity sensor, capacitive multitouch screen, robust, Unix operating system, solid industrial design, glass screen)
Otherwise, the LG prada would have been the phone to beat in 2007. and it wasnt.
Everyone's strategy shifted to catch up and match the iphone after 2007. Because it was, as a product of aggregate qualities, ahead of the pack. there was a picture that's widely circulated, Samsung phones before the iphone, and samsung phones after the iphone, the differences were definitely not subtle. iPhone had a distinct look and feel.

no, the macbook air was very, very special..
how many laptops in 2008 had a smooth, all aluminium (UNIBODY) design that can fit in a yellow manila folder?? none...
how many had a large multitouch trackpad? none...
thats exactly my point, Apple had always been in the forefront of design - often controversially (macbook air didnt have a disc drive, the iMac didnt have a floppy drive). But it always strived, and succeeded at differentiating itself against the competitors.
the iPhone 4 had a crazy retina display...and a massive leap forward in the quality of its industrial design - not to mention the peculiar antenna tech - not adopted by anyone else in the industry.

the iPhone 6 mock-up, well theres nothing different about it when compared to the next 50 android phones that are next to it in the stores.

ps: the internet is not a product created by one company in amongst competitors, it is a standard of communication, i think our discussion is more steered towards one product's design vs. competing products.

Lol. Powder Coat is the last thing Apple would use for a finish. If you're suggesting that, then I'm assuming you have no experience with Powder Coating or metal finishings in general. Powder Coating would be a MASSIVE pain in the ass on small parts like the iPhone to achieve the same results they get now through anodizing.

Besides the anodizing finish they have not being very durable... Why couldn't aluminum and glass be powder coated? I don't know it would be more difficult?

More content doesn't always mean more readable content. Most still pinch to zoom and that wont change with a larger phone. Unless sites are mobile optimized. Tons aren't or look like crap if they are.

I'm not saying people don't pinch and zoom. I'm saying there is more on a screen. Less scrolling. I still zoom in in things on my 27" comouter screen too. That doesn't mean it's not nice to be able to see more of a page without having to scroll around. Again, it's kind of what made the iPad such a popular thing.

Photo look to me to be genuine. I like the look. Hopefully, they will release it before September! Samsung S5 is rumor to be release end of February or beginning of March. With it specs; had to resist buying.

160 million will be sold in the first 2 qtrs. Supply chain genius Cook better realize what the demand will be, because everyone else does. Tens of millions of iPhone users will upgrade to a bigger iPhone in the first month.

----------

The 5s should stick around for a couple years, hopefully. 4" , 4.7", 5.5" and 6" iPhones will be what brings Apple's stock out of the doldrums.

but it wont fit in my skinny jeans.... i cant use it one handed, ... steve says..... hang on its exactly like all the android phones ive been slagging off for the last 3 years.... BUT its got a lovely shiny apple badge on, so guess what guys... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! apple rocks!!!

----------

I think this is the Android Apple phone that Woz wants...

its the android apple phone that a lot of folk want... replace ios with android 4.4 , and you are half way to matching the HTC ONE as a supreme all rounder....

How can they look genuine when they've pretty much been thoroughly debunked?

I dont think they have a problem predicting demand..the problem with the business model that apple has in place is the ability to time_up the production in a way that keeps profits in tact..You cannot make rapid increases in production and claim the same profit share..production and supply has to slowly catch up and you cannot over produce and then scale back after the first quarter or two..

My question is, what will be the price?

Will Apple do as they have so far, and keep the same price for a more feature-laden device?

Or will they keep the 3.5" at its current price, and make the bigger screen model even higher?

(The larger screen Android devices often commanded a $299 subsidized price at their debut, for example.)

Interesting question. I never considered if they would charge a premium for the large screen. I'd hope not but it's probably a possibility.

Indeed, in years to come Apple may even give us Stereo sound on the iPad.
I know this is pushing advancements in technology quite a step, but I'm sure given their design teams they will be able to offer this to customers in perhaps only a few short years time.
