ARM, ARM, ARM. Coming to a Mac near you soon.

Would certainly explain the next Macs being "the most significant upgrade ever undertaken by Apple".

Can I ask , what tasks on the 6S are slow currently ?

Since the iPhone 5, I have not noticed a performance boast each upgrade, sure they benchmarks improved , but daily usage, almost identical .

I'd take a new look phone over Almost identical performance. Instead of almost identical design and identical performance

I upgraded from an iPhone 5S to the iPhone 6S and saw significant improvement in browsing, opening apps, camera response etc. but year - to raise the bar from here might be more a question about future proofing than solving a problem right here, right now

Whenever the next iPad Pro is released I hope there are some big software announcements from Adobe to go along with the improved hardware.

Some impressive numbers there!! Nice performance bump, question is, will there be a noticeable differnce in Daily use
I am certain that I will enjoy a "noticeable difference" when compared to my 5S. It's getting used to the "noticeable difference" of the Plus size that concerns me; bye-bye one handed use.

So we had 1 GB RAM for centuries...

I've told you a million times to stop exaggerating. LOL

Seriously, I would be alarmed and disappointed if Apple put 3GB in the Plus and only 2GB in the 4.7". The camera differences I can sort of understand, as it can be attributed to real estate. But if the SE has shown Apple anything it's that people want cutting edge features and don't necessarily want larger size.

And for you, Sir or Madam, we have the SE.

Jeez, not this uninformed argument again.

Name a mobile Intel chip currently shipping that is more powerful than the top end i7-4980HQ 2.8GHz in the 15" rMBP. The only one I can think of is i7-5950HQ and even that isn't much more powerful by even a mild margin. Practically identical in performance to be honest.

The Xeon E3-1545M isn't any better.

So come on: what chips should Apple be shipping?

If I'm understanding you correctly... Apple is still using the 4th generation i7-4980HQ in the 15" rMBP.

And Intel has since released the 5th generation i7-5950HQ... but Apple decided not to use it.

So I'm not seeing how Apple is stuck waiting on Intel.

My guess is that the only reason they put 3GB in the 7 Plus is the dual camera. Combing the data of both cameras to one picture probably needs a lot of ressources. I'm expecting 2GB in the 4.7" unfortunately

Hmmm, these chips are quickly catching up to desktop CPU power in every iteration. They'd definitely give mobile i5s a run for their money. And these are chips without fan cooling, running in mobile devices. If Microsoft released a version of Windows 10 that would run on the ARM instruction set...

I honestly think Apple do have ARM Macs in the backburner. Certainly not contemplating a release in the next 5 years, but more than likely a 'what if' scenario. Hypothetically, if they had control over the chip pipeline, development, and design macOS to really scream on these chips -- who knows.
Microsoft did. No one wanted it so they withdrew it.

Apple is positioning the iPad as a PC notebook replacement.

If only Apple gave us a desktop OS on the phone/tablet. That is what I am waiting for. Tim statement and commercial that the iPad can replace a computer is not real until the OS gets there. The hardware is close enough I think.
I think the goal is one computer you carry around and plug in. Instead of laptop with plug in your reduce the footprint to a phone that plugs in and use keyboard when sit down and bigger monitor. Right now the phone could power every computer before around 2008 so in a few years it will be a reasonable option for everyone. Will not be as fast as a desktop but we compromise for laptops and this would be some more compromise that will work for a sizable portion of people. We will always need real computers but for many people this will work pretty well.

What is there to gain from those CPUS? Basically nothing.

God 3gb of ram the score isn't even representative of how quick this is going to be. 3gb on iOS  these things are gonna be a pleasure to use

Apple's chip architecture is second-to-none. Most tasks run on single-core anyway.
Until you starts to do real multitasking that the iPhones can't do to begin with.

On Samsung's high end smartphones, you can run like 4 apps at the same time. And for that, you absolutely need more than just 2 CPU-cores lol.

Come back later when iOS actually can do some of the cool things the Galaxy Note 7 can do for example and tell me if 2 CPU-cores are fun to use?

Serious question. What the hell are people doing with their phones where the iPhone 6 is not powerful enough? Is this a spec bump just for the sake of a spec bump?

No, it's so Tim can use words like "fastest" and "best" at the iPhone 7 Keynote speech and demonstrate how the new iPhone can render screenloads of emoticons in record time. Faster than any Android phone.

All that speed boost probably came from twice the ram

LOL. Again with "real" multitasking.

Just wondering, what 4 apps do you have running at the same time?

The claim was made that Apple is stuck waiting on Intel. And that Intel misses Apple's release schedule.

But if Intel releases new chips... and Apple doesn't use them... that kinda punches holes in those earlier claims.
