This is not a schematic, this is a mechanical drawing. A schematic is an electrical diagram.

-jcr

I am as much into semantics as anyone, and while it probably isn't quite right to call this drawing a schematic, any type of simplified representation can be called schematic. An electrical diagram is one kind, but not the only kind. For example, the famous map of the London Underground is a schematic map.

*wishful thinking*: if Apple could bring back the headphone jack, I'd preorder in a jiffy.

Nah. I would rather have them fucused on a new technologies and not on antice ones.
Seriously, people are strange!!!

Still looks like crap!

So you are judging how nice a person looks just by looking at the X-RAY skeleton? Nice!!

I think Apple should bring back the 3.5 mm Jack and cancel those highly successful AirPods that are doing very well. /S.

Off Topic: I will tell you this, even when after all the heat of deleting the jack, the AirPods are a huge hit and I absolutely love my pair, even with the delay, these have done very well in my opinion. I think Apple has a bright future with AirPods and has plenty a room for improvements.

Have Beats headphones or AirPods improved in sound.....No.

I own both for connivence where they shine, SQ sucks. When apple actually does something about SQ you have a point. Each year wired devices with superior dacs get better and better while apple does zero improving the SQ of thier headphones.

I love my AirPods , brilliant for gym. When I get home and want to listen to music I use my Sony Dap with wired headphones, In comparison any of my wireless headphones sound like absolute junk. Problem is my Sony Dap has been improved with a new model, sounding even better...apple wireless headphones.....wireless headphone makert in general is about money and profits and not sound quality.

Sorry not a fan of going backwards and not improving.

People are seriously strange that ignore the number one feature of a headphone, sound.......

Guess it's like the people going on and on about electric cars being the future....that's nice....give me an internal combustion engine any day, much better car. Though at least it give tesla credit ....thier cars improve each year.

Question , do yours always charge ? I've run into the situation on a number of times when I get them out for gym, one is not charged. They are the best headphones I've ever owned for gym, and tried so many, gold!! Which reminds me, better check now they are both charged...

I am not an audiophile so I don't know and I don’t really care that much, however to me they sound better then the earpods. And for me that is an improvement. I love the convenience. I love how I can just take them out of the box, put them in my ears and forget they are there. Not worry about untangling stupid wires, adjust wires down my chin, worry about one or the other falling out of my ear when they get pulled by the wire when I run or do workout..... I really can't stop talking about how much better they are for me. I gave the AKG Galaxy 8 earbuds to my cousin. Just can't go back to wired ones, regardless how good they may sound.

I've had zero issues with charging my AirPods. I charge both simultaneously and I have them ready to go at 100% when I need them.

Also, your above post about the sound quality. I think it's important remember that Apple wasn't necessarily striving for superior sound quality with the AirPods. More so, they were seeking the convenience factor with the charging capabilities and how seamless they are to pair with the iPhone when you're ready to use them instantaneously. Apple will improve on the sound quality overtime and the water resistance features, but for the current capabilities, the mobility and charging with the W1 chip was Apple's main goal with these.

Completely Agree with you on continent they are. I have a number of sets of wireless, and they all gather dust now, my go to is the AirPods. Though for me they sound exactly the same as EarPods, about to hit the gym and they been the best purchase in that regard, probably my favourite apple purchase in the last 2 years.

AKG headphones, so you got an s8? thoughts?

Cool, off to see Apple i think.

Look, apple is after profits first and foremost, and if that means connivence sells....that is what they will target. Frankly Apple will never strive to improve SQ.....they never have, though it does not mean their devices have not improved in SQ overtime. As you said they will go after wireless, battery etc....

There are chumps like myself though that made the mistake of going down the audiophile path.....which a lot of it is in ones head to be honest, and in that world, wireless SQ is crap :( though.....lets be honest we are suck a minority. For most ..... they don't care about wired v wireless SQ differences, most will use the headphones that come with phones and think they are great. Its like being a Mac pro owner... (i am) you moan, no-one cares :p

We don't know yet as it hasn't been announced. I'd say wireless charging at all is an advantage for some, but personally I don't find it as a huge selling point.

The only "plus" I can think of is not having to plug the current tiny charging cable. However, the advantages of the current system are many: I can charge a phone from any available USB port (in a car, from a computer, etc.) Also, if my charging cable gets lost or damaged, I can easily & unexpensively replace it with another one. The wireless charging setup is gonna get inevitably more bulky, as we would need some sort of a cradle/mat to charge it on and it will bring the cost of a charger (and the phone) up. So if any of you guys makes it to the Apple keynote announcing this new "revolutionary" feature, please "Booo!" it from me. ;)

I have disliked Samsung as a company on the past, used 2 of their previous Galaxy phones and had horrible experience. But this one is much different since last one I used, galaxy 5. I have had zero issues with my S8 (5.8”) since I bough it a week ago. The battery have been excellent compare to my iPhone 6s that can't get me through the day. This one very easy takes me through the day with a spare % on the evening. Software doesn't seem as bloated as previously and the wider options you get from OS is nice. I still prefer the smoothness of iOS which to me still feels more solid and secure system, but from the hardware side at the moment Galaxy 8 is unparalleled. It is large screen but does feel quite comfortable to use (bit slippery though) The display is a killer, just hope Apple will have the some gorgeous screen on the new high end iPhone this year. I have no doubt it will be fantastic phone when it comes out on September.

Yep, use my air pods everyday for gym and when taking the dog for a walk. Then when I’m at home for louder music I use my beats solo3. Best of both worlds. I will never touch wired headphones again. Nothing worse than annoying wires. Sound wise it is enough for my needs granted others might want it louder.

I'm definitely not an audiophile. But I certainly appreciate good sound quality, I think the AirPods are sufficient, but certainly not superior for sound. Although, the other capabilities easily override the sound quality. For me.

Am I the only one who has been forever annoyed by the extreme oval cutout for the dual lens camera. So out of place. It is fine to have two cameras, but could they please at least attempt something like this shown below , or if possible fit two cameras into the smallest circular cutout possible to contain both. Just looks awful, and is so far from Apple's previous design standards.

Then... the nightmare
iphone-7-plus-dual-camera.jpg

When compared to this it is just an atrocity
iphone-5-camera-new.jpg

You don't think it will ruin the design if the cams were in a square box, when the phone has round corners? :p

Cheers . I looked at the 7 plus though just so minor update from my 6S so looking at the s8. Geez it does look look. Guess I can order direct from Samsung, they have a nice return policy

It depends on how much you use them. I take them on my commute to work which is 2 hours each way. I have to charge them every 3-4 days.

If I'm not at work and just using them at home then I only need to charge them about once a week as I'm using them less.

And theses things fundamentally improve the functionality and user experience just how? Why don't they change the chamfer radius....that will really impress people !!

I would wager that it's not for wireless charging but a touch ID area - if Apple are having grief trying to get the button behind the screen, and Samsung are getting heckled for the location of their ID button, maybe it makes sense just to have a larger capacitive area on the back of the phone to get rid of the need to hunt - maybe even allowing a swipe gesture to activate it. Personally, I'd take that over wireless charging any day...
